Source: Mihajlo Maricic / EyeEm / Getty Family Of Justine Damond Reaches $20 Million Settlement With The City of Minneapolis A settlement has been reached in the tragic Justine Ruszczyk Damond case. According to NBC News , the family of the yoga teacher who was shot dead by a cop agreed to a $20 million settlement with the city of Minneapolis. The settlement occurred only three days after jurors convicted the former police officer, Mohamed Noor, of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the July 15, 2017 killing of Damond, who was a duel citizen of the U.S. and Australia. Back in 2017, Damond, 40, called 911 because she believed she heard a sexual assault happening in an alley near her place. However, when Noor and his partner Matthew Harrity pulled up to Damond’s home, they mistook her as a threat and Noor opened fire on her. Damond was unarmed. Meanwhile, evidence of a sexual assault was not found. Damond’s family filed a $50 million lawsuit against the city, an action that was put on hold depending on the result of the criminal trial. When Noor was convicted, settlement talks immediately began, according to City Council President Lisa Bender. “We know that no amount of money can heal the pain that the Ruszczyk family or any family that has lost a loved one in this way,” Bender said. “It is our continued commitment to work together, with our community, to demand and support change to policing.” On Friday, the city council voted unanimously to approve the settlement. The family has pledged $2 million to a local charity centered around gun violence in Minneapolis. “This is not a victory for anyone, but rather a way for our city to move forward,” Mayor Jacob Frey said. “And I do believe that we will move forward together, united in the shared belief that such a tragedy should never occur in our city.” Meanwhile, Noor, 33, faces up to 15 years in prison. He was taken into custody right after his verdict was read and he’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 7.
Source: Scott Dudelson / Getty Police Show Up To Investigate Bizzy Bone Instagram Live Threats Legendary rapper Bizzy Bone hopped on the Instagram to address his current rap beef with 21 Savage and Offset while wielding a shotgun and police reportedly showed up to investigate. “You think I’m playin’ with you, don’t you?” he says in the video. “I’ll blow your head off. Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something…” During the clip, someone interrupts his rant by saying, “The police is at the door.” Bizzy’s face drops and he appears to mouth the word, “What?” He then picks up the shotgun and ends the livestream. But apparently Bizzy wasn’t done. He later returned to Instagram Live where he continued trashing the younger generation of rappers. Do better, OG. Continue reading →
Source: Mitch Haaseth / Getty Tonight’s episode of How to Get Away With Murder finds Annalise in the thick of her Nate Sr appeal case. It’s not looking too good right now, especially when the court throws a wrench in their plans. They find out that Nate Jr is being called to the stand as a surprise witness, something they weren’t prepared for. The thing is, Nate wrote a letter, when he was a kid, saying that he felt safer with his father behind bars. Nate claims he doesn’t even remember writing the letter and no longer feels that way, but that obviously doesn’t go over well in court, so Annalise and her students have to work in overdrive to figure out how to come out on top. Meanwhile, Bonnie is spiraling because Nate dug up a whole lot of trauma. She heads to Nate’s house to ask why he did what he did. In her mind, he meant to do her dirty, but we know that Nate is a genuinely good guy and he did a very naive thing. He explains that he did what he did because he thought it would help but Bonnie reminds him that he just triggered her all over again. She tried to kill herself over that situation and managed to get past it but now she’s going to have to try to build herself back up again. Nate wants to try to make it better but there’s nothing he can do at this point. Eventually, we find Annalise and Nate together kicking it and discussing the case. Nate said he lied on the stand and that he did actually remember writing the letter. Again, he was a kid when he wrote it, stressed out and angry with his father. When he saw the cops taking his father away he was upset and felt like the cops were the good guys and his dad wasn’t and he wanted to be like the cops. It’s clear that he feels terrible about that decision and he’s stressed about what his testimony did to the case but Annalise reminds him who tf she is! She took her appeals case to the supreme court and won. Do you think she’s going to lose in Philly? Nah! It’s going to be hard because the governor has a vendetta against her for doing this in the first place, and even sends a psychologist who worked with Nate Sr. years ago to testify and to poke holes in the insanity defense. Little did the psych know is that Michaela convinced Asher to dig up some dirt on him and basically, it’s clear that he works for the governor’s office so of course, he’s on the stand saying what’s necessary to stay in his boss’ good graces. His entire testimony gets thrown out because Annalise ain’t playing no games! Then Nate Sr. takes the stand and hold that thought… Bonnie ends up telling her boyfriend, Ronald, everything that happened in her childhood, and about her getting pregnant at 15 and now learning that her son might be alive. After hearing all of that he still wants to be with her and she is a wreck, but he consoles her and they come up with a plan. Hold that thought. The jury finally reaches a verdict and all of Annalise’s fierce fighting (and her students too) pays off. The jury’s verdict is not guilty by reason of insanity. Annalise’s poster case a victory. This. Is. A. Big. Deal. His father will be transferred to a suitable psychiatric facility. Nate Sr. and Nate Jr. have a beautiful moment in the courtroom where they hug it out and exchange forgiveness. Annalise talks to the press about how dope she is, Laurel lets Frank know that she knows he has been stalking Gabe for something a lot deeper than just researching Annalise’s students but we’ll have to wait for the answer. Finally, the episode wraps with Bonnie and Ron going to see her sister and then we cut back to the wedding. Connor looking for Oliver but he finds Asher going down on his mom. Ew! Two more episodes until we find out who died at the wedding. RELATED POSTS ‘HTGAWM’ Recap: If [Redacted] Dies, We Riot ‘HTGAWM’ Recap: Nate Digs Up Another Bone From Bonnie’s Graveyard Of Secrets
Image via Westend61/Getty He Says “She Needs Help” Nine-year-old Jeremiah Harvey is speaking out after he was wrongfully accused of groping a White woman’s butt in a Brooklyn corner store. According to ABC News , the incident happened last week when Teresa Klein called the police on Jeremiah on claims that he touched her. However, the security-camera proved differently. It showed that Jeremiah’s backpack brushed up against Klein’s backside as he passed her in the store. Jeremiah’s hands are clearly in front of him as he passes her in the video. Klein eventually issued an apology, but the Brooklyn neighborhood was not satisfied. Video of Klein calling 911 on Jeremiah was caught on video and went viral, causing Klein to be dubbed “Cornerstore Caroline.” A community meeting was organized this week by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and people, including Jeremiah’s mom, spoke out about the situation. “What happened to us respecting one another, having unity and being neighborly,” said his mom, Someko Bellille. Jeremiah also delivered a message at the meeting. With his mom right beside him, he said, “Friendship is really the key.” But he also didn’t necessarily have forgiveness in his heart. After the meeting, he told ABC New York station WABC, “I don’t forgive this woman, and she needs help.” This Cornerstone Caroline situation is the latest video of White people calling the cops on Black people for the pettiest of reasons. BBQ Becky was arguably the first to gain national attention back in May . The man who took video of Klein calling the cops, Jason Littlejohn, was adamant about the incident going viral. He posted the video to Facebook and by Monday it had over 8 million views. “We’re definitely going to make a movement out here,” Littlejohn said in his Sunday Facebook post. “We’re going to stop people — I will say, people — from dialing 911 unnecessarily. … It’s gotta stop, people. … We will not let this continue to happen.”

Source: Godong / Getty A French priest straight up lost it when he was confronted with a crying baby during a baptism. In a video that was posted to YouTube on Wednesday, the priest first seems to comfort the infant to no effect. Then the priest grabs the baby’s face right before slapping him. And I’m not talking a cutesy slap. It was a slap big enough to cause shock. “Calm down,” the priest can be heard saying in the video, according to WTHR . The family was NOT here for it. Check out the video below, which has already gotten over 2 million views. Whatever spirit took over that priest, we don’t want none of that.
Source: Matt Cardy / Stringer / Getty First, we had #BBQBecky and now we have #PermitPatty, the latest white woman to not mind her business in California. When an 8-year-old girl was selling water bottles outside of her mother’s home in San Francisco, this strange woman decided to call the cops. Why? Because the little girl didn’t have a permit. Even worse, when she realized she could become the next Twitter meme, she attempts to hide from the cameras. So my little cousin was selling water and didn't have a permit so this lady decided to call the cops on an 8 year old. #PermitPatty pic.twitter.com/SiL61pnAgl — Raj (@_ethiopiangold) June 23, 2018 So of course, Twitter is having a field day with her anyway. She’s been given the nickname #PermitPatty and the online roasts have been hilarious. Hit the flip for more.
As you’ve likely heard by now, Farrah Abraham was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly assaulting a male staff member while staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Farrah spent the night in jail but has since been released on bail. Thus far, charges have not been filed but prosecutors have until Friday to do so. Farrah’s 9-year-old daughter, Sophia, was in the hotel at the time of the incident, but she was reportedly asleep in her room and did not bear witness to her mother’s meltdown. In short, no one was seriously injured and for Sophia, it was no more traumatic than any typical day of being Farrah Abraham’s daughter. Thus, it’s safe to make fun of this situation, and folks — there’s so, so much to laugh at here. Shortly after leaving prison, Farrah vomited up one of her most nonsensical word salads to date in a video she submitted to TLC. Like all things Farrah, it must be seen to be believed: Farrah Abraham Talks Arrest: I Was Targeted! “I don’t know who called the cops, why people called the cops … I was focused on my friends and then someone was trying to be involved, another guest,” Farrah said in the clip, before trying to make herself out to be some sort of feminist hero. “I hope no other female finds herself in this position or situation, and I know it’s very hard being a public figure or ‘celebrity,’ if you will.” It’s nice that we’re becoming more ‘woke’ as a society , Farrah seems to be saying, but what about the most marginalized group of all — celebrities! Anyway, for the first time since Farrah was fired from Teen Mom OG , she has the internet’s full attention — and she’s not letting go of it without a fight. Farrah took to Instagram Live today to continue spewing her thoughts about the incident, and it seems she’ll be checking into a lot of Air BnBs in the future. “Hey guys! I wanted to say thank you for all of the well wishes and concern,” Farrah told her followers. “It’s sort of sad sometimes when you’re out and you just can’t have fun and people want to attack you and get you all in that trouble,” she added. “So, I’m blessed by God, and I don’t ever want to be attacked again at a hotel.” In her mind, she presumably conjured the hashtag “2Blessed2BStressed.” The specificity of Farrah’s comment left Farrah fans puzzled. She doesn’t want to be attacked in a hotel again?! Is she done staying in hotels, or is she just gonna wear a beekeeper suit from now on? Farrah didn’t respond to requests for elaboration, but we’re sure she’s working on another lengthy video rant at this very moment.
