Arrests: Minnesota Vikings Cornerback Chris Cook Popped For Domestic Violence

A football player acting violent? No way! Where they do that at? Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook was arrested early Saturday on domestic battery charges, and the team said Cook, who has started the past three games, will not play this weekend against the Green Bay Packers. Cook, 24, was arrested without incident after someone called 911 around 2 a.m. to report hearing people across the street yelling and screaming, Eden Prairie police spokeswoman Katie Beal said. The second-year pro was booked on two charges, including one count of domestic assault, and was being held without bail Saturday at Hennepin County jail, according to online records. Prosecutors have 48 hours in which to charge Cook, who has a court hearing scheduled for Monday morning. Bob Hagan, the Vikings’ spokesman, said Cook has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against unbeaten Green Bay. Earlier, the team issued a statement saying it didn’t plan to comment about the arrest until it could learn more about what happened. “We take this matter very seriously and are still gathering all the details of the incident,” the Vikings said. Earlier this year, Cook was accused of pulling a gun on a neighbor in his home state of Virginia. A judge found him not guilty of a misdemeanor count of brandishing a firearm, saying there was insufficient evidence to convict him. Sounds like this cat needs to get his act together. Source

You Won’t Believe What This 16-Year-Old Kid And This Woman Twice His Age Got Popped For

SMH: A woman who acknowledged performing sex acts on a 2-year-old child while a man in the United Kingdom watched live via a web-cam has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Julie Carr, 33, of Mars Hill, Maine, was sentenced Monday, a year after confessing that she sent videos to the man. U.S. District Judge John Woodcock said he had dealt with many child pornography cases and ‘yours is the worst case I’ve ever seen.’ The Bangor Daily News said he told Carr that, ‘it is incumbent upon me to protect … the people who can’t protect themselves.’ Police in the West Midlands region of England discovered the videos, which were recorded by Nicholas Wilde, in June 2009 while investigating another child pornography case. The videos were traced to Maine, and Carr was arrested two days later. She said Wilde ‘conned’ her into doing it, according to court documents. Wilde was arrested on June 11 2009 after sending child sex abuse images to a 16-year-old girl he met in an internet chat room. The girl and her mother contacted the police and Wilde was traced and subsequently arrested by officers from the child exploitation unit at West Midlands Police. The teenager of Holmbridge Grove, Sheffield admitted 10 charges of making, possessing or distributing indecent images of children and also possessing extreme pornography. Wilde also admitted two charges of incitement to commit sexual assault of a child under 13 – offences that led to the arrest of Carr. Carr was arrested following a probe involving the American Child Exploitation Unit, the Online Protection Centre and the United States Embassy. At his sentencing, the court heard that detectives seized a computer and a memory stick from his bedroom, uncovering a collection of photographs at the most serious end of the child pornography scale involving children as young as 18-months-old. The memory stick also contained footage of a woman in Maine, who later turned out to be Carr, abusing a young child. Jailing Wilde for four years and eight months, Judge Hilary Watson said of the exchange with Carr: ‘It was entirely for your benefit, at your direction, for the sexual gratification of Nicholas Wilde.’ The judge added his youth was ‘very worrying’, saying: ‘You have your whole life ahead of you and the potential to re-offend is very great.’ Makes you wonder how this monster only got four years, doesn’t it. Julie Carr, though, is without a doubt the f*cked up mother of the day. Source

Quote Of The Day: Adrian Peterson Compares NFL Labor Situation To Modern Day Slavery

The NFL labor situation is “modern-day slavery,” according to Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson. The running back’s explosive comments were quoted in a Yahoo! Sports story last Friday, the same day the NFL Players Association decertified and the NFL owners subsequently locked out the players. Peterson vented his anger about the owners refusing to open their financial books. “It’s like . . . well, show us. We want more information, and they want to (expletive), going around, saying this and that, just open it up and give us the information we want,” Peterson told Yahoo! Sports shortly before the NFLPA’s decertification last Friday. “. . . If they have nothing to hide, just give us the information. Why not? Obviously, there’s a lot to hide — these guys are professionals, and they’re maximizing what they do. But they know that if all this information comes out, the information the players want, it’ll be right out there for everyone to see. It’s a rip-off — not just for the players, but for the people who work at the concession stands and at the stadiums.” But Peterson didn’t stop there. Many NFL players feel that they aren’t being treated as business partners, but Peterson chose a different term for the treatment. “It’s modern-day slavery, you know?” Peterson said. “People kind of laugh at that, but there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too. With all the money . . . the owners are trying to get a different percentage, and bring in more money.” Yahoo! writer Doug Farrar apparently removed Peterson’s comments for a time shortly after they were published. The quote already had spread across the Internet, however. Yahoo! included an editor’s note Tuesday that said it was reaching out to Peterson for context to his comments. “I don’t think he meant it in the way it’s going to come across, but the word itself is a problem,” Farrar said via his Twitter account. Peterson, who was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Vikings, will enter the 2011 season — if there is one — in the final year of his rookie deal, a source confirmed. Discuss… (And ladies, that pic was a special treat for you!!!) Source

Old Man Favre Finally Calls It Quits. No, Really.

At least that’s almost what it sounded like he was saying in a post-game press conference yesterday. NFL legend Brett Favre looks to have played the final game of his record-breaking career. The injured star quarterback sat it out as his current team, the Minnesota Vikings, were beaten 20-13 by Detroit to end their poor season, then gave every indication that he was retiring for the third time. “It’s been a wonderful experience for me,” Favre told the official NFL website. “This year did not work out the way we would have hoped, but that’s football. I don’t regret coming back.” But the 41-year-old knows there will be doubters after he made the same announcements in 2008 and 2009 before negotiating lucrative multi-million dollar contracts to play further seasons in the NFL. “I don’t know for me if it’s ever easy,” Favre admitted. “I’m sure throughout this year, the comment has been made that, ‘We’ll wait and see in August or September’ and that’s fine. It’s time. I’m OK with it.” It’s been a difficult season for Favre, who is the the NFL’s all-time career record holder in wins, passing yards and touchdown passes. He was fined $50,000 for failing to cooperate with an NFL investigation into improper text messages he allegedly sent to a former game-day hostess while he played for the New York Jets in 2008. On the field, he finished with the lowest quarterback rating of his career (69.9) as the Vikings finished bottom of the NFC North, missing three of their last four games with injury. Favre has been a three-time MVP during his 19 seasons in the NFL, 16 with the Green Bay Packers. He helped the Packers to the Super Bowl in 1997. Great. Mazel Tov. Now we have both Michael Jordan AND Brett Favre to remind us that sometimes living legends should just walk away. Take head, Lebron and Kobe. Source
