So Where’s the Buzz About Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley’s TIFF Drama Last Night?

According an official count just released by the Toronto International Film Festival, this year’s event spawned nearly two dozen U.S. distribution deals for selections including Super , Rabbit Hole , Cave of Forgotten Dreams , The Conspirator and Beautiful Boy — with more to come in the days and weeks ahead. But one high-profile title in particular — currently idling on Miramax’s shelf — has yielded exactly no industry buzz and a surprising dearth of discussion since its first screening nearly a week ago.

Miramax Not Actually Purchased Just Yet

Uh-oh. According to Variety , Disney’s hopeful — and thought to be written in ink — sale of Miramax has hit a major pothole. Weinsteins Won’t Reclaim Miramax

Harvey and Bob Weinstein have been working steadily over the last few months to regain their old haunt Miramax from Disney, but the LAT says the deal has fallen apart. Among the sticking points: the Weinsteins’ final bid, $625 million, wasn’t quite as high as Disney wanted. Ugh, now the brothers will have to use that money to actually release the films they have on the shelf. They hate having to do that! [ LAT ]
