Stephen Collins: Fired from Ted 2 Amidst Child Molestation Allegations

Stephen Collins is yet to speak out regarding rumors that he molested three girls under the age of 12 many years ago. But the producers of Ted 2 have made their feelings well known in regard to these ugly allegations: Collins has been cut from the upcoming comedy, which is slated for a June 26, 2015 release. The veteran actor, best known for his role as a pastor on 7th Heaven, had already filmed his small role in the film. But Seth MacFarlane and company will not be using it, sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly. Stephen Collins Admits to Child Molestation As previously detailed, TMZ has obtained a recording (above) of Collins in a 2012 therapy session with estranged wife Faye Grant. Assuming the voice on the tape belongs to Collins, the star openly admits to inappropriate contact with multiple children ; he says he once placed the hand of an 11-year old girl on his penis and that he was “partially” erect at the time. Collins also says he exposed himself to at least two other girls around the same age, one of whom he contacted “12-15 years ago” to make “amends.” It sounds on the recording as if Grant was aware of these incidents prior to the therapy session. There are multiple references to a “list” that Collins presumably made for his wife, detailing his sordid indiscretions. Under California law, it is legal to illicitly tape someone you suspect of having committed a violent felony. According to various reports, two detectives from the NYPD Special Victims Unit flew to Los Angeles last week to interview Grant, with a police officer confirming to TMZ that there’s an active investigation in the works. It centers on three unnamed victims and Collins having “inappropriate sexual contact” with them as minors. 11 TV & Movie Casts Who Have Come Back Together 1. Collins is on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild. He has most recently appeared in such hits shows as Revolution, The Fosters, Falling Skies and, ironically,  Scandal .

Stephen Collins Resigns from National Board of the Screen Actors Guild

Stephen Collins has withdrawn from the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild. The former 7th Heaven star is making headlines for all the (very) wrong reasons today, as a tape has surfaced of Collins talking to his estranged wife and their therapist in 2012. We’ve featured the recording below and, unless this is not the voice of Stephen Collins, there’s little to be mistaken in it: he seems to admit to THREE different instances of sexual molestation. Stephen Collins Admits to Child Molestation The incident referenced most often involves a then-11-year old relative of Collins’ first wife. In the audio, Collins says he placed the girl’s hand over his penis and that he had a “partial” erection at the time. The aforementioned 11-year old is now an adult and tells TMZ that she would sometimes stay with the actor and his ex-wife when she was young. She alleges that Collins would often enter the guest room in nothing but a towel and expose himself to her. She also says he would touch and rub her. The names of all three victims are being withheld at the moment, as the NYPD confirms an investigation is ongoing into the authenticity of this tape and the admissions seemingly contained within it. A pair of detectives were dispatched to Los Angeles last Wednesday to interview Faye Grant, Collins’ estrange wife and the woman who made this damning recording. She was aware of the molestation allegations surrounding her husband at the time the tape was made, as both sides refer to a “list” during their talk with the therapist. This appears to be a list of young women with whom Collins acted inappropriately. Under California law, the recording  would be permissible in court if Collins is brought up on felony charges. In that state, it’s legal to secretly record conversations in an effort to gather evidence if a person is believed to have committed a violent felon – and molesting a child under the age of 14 counts as such. Collins is yet to make a statement in response to these allegations. But his role has been cut from Ted 2 and he also been removed from the Committee for Stress-Free Schools, a project for which he’d been serving as co-director. 11 TV & Movie Casts Who Have Come Back Together 1. ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Opens To Wednesday Record As Torture Controversy Brews

Even as Zero Dark Thirty has come under fire by key Senators criticizing its depiction of torture in the hunt for Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, the film shrugged off the pressure, at least at the box office, in its initial limited roll out Wednesday. [ Related: Golden Globes Unveil 70th Edition Nominees ] The Sony release opted for a specialty-style roll-out Wednesday, opening in limited locations in New York and Los Angeles before it heads wide January 11, not so coincidentally, the day after Oscar nominations are unveiled. The pic, which re-teams Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and writer-producer Mark Boal ( The Hurt Locker ), scored the biggest Wednesday limited opening ever (without a Disney-style stage show), according to Deadline.com . The film starring Jessica Chastain grossed a tremendous $124,848 in one day from just five theaters giving it a stellar mid-week $24,969 average. The numbers outstrip the likes of other Wednesday openers American Beauty which took in $73K with six theaters and Little Miss Sunshine with $66K from 7 runs. The film has been an early darling for critics with prestige organizations including the New York Film Critics Circle, the Chicago Film Critics Association and the National Board of Review giving the two-and-a-half-hour-plus feature its choice for Best Film of 2012. It also received four Golden Globe noms, including Best Motion Picture, Drama though others such as Lincoln , Django Unchained and Les Misérables scored more. Still, Zero Dark Thirty is expected to be a heavy-hitter come Oscar nomination morning. Some, however, have begun to speculate whether the percolating controversy over the film’s perceived suggestions that water-boarding, extreme isolation and other techniques were useful in ultimately locating Bin Laden and how that may affect Academy voters should the story hold staying power in the headlines. A report from A.P. yesterday said that former Vietnam War-era P.O.W. Senator John McCain slammed the film after viewing a screener earlier this week and BBC reports that McCain and two other Senate colleagues made their objections official in a letter to the head of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The letter said the pic is “perpetuating the myth that torture is effective” and that “the fundamental problem is that people who see Zero Dark Thirty will believe that the events it portrays are facts.” It goes on to say, “the film therefore has the potential to shape American public opinion in a disturbing and misleading manner,” and that the “use of torture in the fight against terrorism did severe damage to America’s values and standing that cannot be justified or expunged.” Also signing the letter, which was made public, were Senators Dianne Feinstein and Carl Levin, all of whom are members of the Senate Intelligence committee. Bigelow has said that her film depicts a “variety of controversial practices and intelligence methods.” She and Boal have also indicated their distaste for torture in statements last week. Lesley Manville on Another Year and Why She Doesn’t Care About the Golden Globes

When speaking with Another Year star Lesley Manville, it’s hard to not walk away with the impression that she feels this is her big break. Sure, her career has spanned over 30 years — and Another Year is her sixth film with Academy Award nominated director Mike Leigh — but, as Manville points out, no other performance of hers has ever generated this much buzz in the United States during awards season. An awards season that has already garnered Best Actress accolades from the National Board of Review.

‘It’s a Lot of Pressure’: Jesse Eisenberg Reacts to NBR Win, Awards Season

Thursday afternoon, I met Jesse Eisenberg at a New York City dive bar — coincidentally named “Social” — for a pretty sprawling interview that will publish here next week. As he was en route, he heard the news that he had won the National Board of Review’s Best Actor award for his performance in The Social Network (which also claimed the group’s Best Picture and Best Director prizes). I asked Eisenberg about winning that award and what the awards season — and his real first go around with it — means to him.
