Anthrax Scare At Dancing With The Stars

An envelope containing white powder was sent to the Dancing With The Stars offices in CBS Television City in Los Angeles. The offices were evacuated as a precoation and authorities were called in. The white powder was determined to be talcum powder and the workers were allowed to return to their offices. Authorities have not yet revealed who the letter was addressed to, but it’s widely assumed to have been sent to controversy lightning rod Bristol Palin; after all, who would really go to the trouble to start a vendetta against the chubby kid from That’s So Raven ? Alec Baldwin Endorses Wegmans Plus 5 More Strange Celebrity Advertisements

This new series of commercials for the grocery store chain Wegmans begins like any other low-budget, locally produced ad you might see on daytime television…until Alec Baldwin pops up, hanging out with the employees and singing the praises of the chain’s deals with unbridled enthusiasm. And they are brilliant. But Baldwin is not the first celebrity to show up in a baffling advertisement. Today, Movieline takes a look at the Wegmans spots, then fondly remembers five other advertisements where the celebrity appearances make almost zero sense.

Try to Guess Who’s Actually Alive in the Trailer for Dead Awake

It’s always disappointing when a trailer gives away the plot for the entire movie, but the trailer for Dead Awake shows that sometimes the alternative is just as bad. From what I could figure out: Nick Stahl’s girlfriend (Amy Smart) died ten years ago in a car accident. Only, Stahl is trying to convince a detective that it wasn’t an accident. But it turns out the detective he’s been talking to is also dead. Oh, and Stahl is dead too, but he doesn’t know it. Only Rose McGowan knows. Then Stahl’s girlfriend is alive again, or at least around. Or was that a flashback? Somebody help.

Michael Bay Isn’t Made Entirely of Money

“Why did I cut the stunt, because the building wanted a $40,000 location fee. I told my producer we are not paying that – Why? Because I like to stay on budget, and I also don’t like to get ripped off. So there’s the truth. And yes, we are still under budget today.” Moral of the story: The surest ways to elicit a reaction from Michael Bay are to accuse him of having blown his Transformers 3 budget or compare him to Hitler . Go ahead, try it ! [ MichaelBay.com ]

Lea Michele Wants You to Know She Has Lots of Interviews Scheduled

An added bonus to the rampant success of Glee — besides the fact that the show found a way to make Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” tolerable; thanks Darren Criss! — is all the behind-the-scenes gossip that revolves around the Fox smash hit. Is the entire cast having sex with each other, Caligula-style? Did Naya Rivera trash Mark Salling’s car when they broke up? Is Lea Michele the diva-terror everyone claims? Well, about that last one…

An American in Paris: 9 Lessons From Moviegoing in the City of Light

Despite the fact that I do not speak French, I moved to Paris a little over two months ago to stay with my girlfriend while she earns a Master’s degree in the language. I started taking classes of my own last month, and remain nowhere near mastering it myself. In the meantime, my main refuge for the English language and American culture has been the movie theater. I’ve since learned that even going to the movies here requires some cultural adaptation. And so, in grand Movieline tradition , I present nine lessons learned thus far about seeing movies in the City of Light.

An Eclectic Cast Plays Russian Roulette in the 13 Trailer

Watching the trailer for this American remake of the nifty minimalist French thriller 13 Tzameti is a bit frustrating. It looks remarkably similar to the original film, and the fact that Géla Babluani directed both versions only adds to my suspicion that this remake is unnecessary and probably kind of dull. But then there’s the cast. And the fact that watching Mickey Rourke, 50 Cent, Sam Riley and Jason Statham play Russian Roulette under Michael Shannon’s supervision may actually be enough to get me to watch the same movie again.
