Bodak Union: Stephen Colbert Campaigns For Cardi B To Give State Of The Union Rebuttal

Source: Splash News / Splash News The Late Night Host Believes She Has The Chops It was only a matter of time before Cardi B ‘s political rants gained the support of the masses, sparking a revolutionary movement that will impeach Trump and destroy white supremacy everywhere. Well, that has happened quite yet. But at least Cardi has Stephen Colbert ‘s vote. The late night talk show host is campaigning for Cardi to deliver her own address after Donald Trump ‘s State of the Union address. On Wednesday night, Colbert tweeted, “I am starting a petition for the Democrats to let @iamcardib give the rebuttal to the SOTU. Sign it by retweeting this!” I am starting a petition for the Democrats to let @iamcardib give the rebuttal to the SOTU. Sign it by retweeting this! — Stephen Colbert (@StephenAtHome) January 24, 2019   According to Newsweek, Trump tweeted on Wednesday that he’ll postpone his State of the Union address until after the partial government shutdown is over. However, it seems Colbert is planning ahead. His tweet supporting Cardi has already received over 22,000 retweets as of Thursday morning. The not-too-shabby numbers have the potential to grow if the Cardi stans do their thing. Granted, we doubt the Dems have the balls to let a real one like Cardi represent them. But hey, this could be the start of an amazing skit featuring Cardi on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.  Cardi has already shown she has the chops to go against political naysayers. On Tuesday, Cardi clapped back at conservative TV host Stephanie Hammill when she tried to shame Cardi’s twerking in her “Twerk” music video with City Girls.  “In the Era of #meToo how exactly does this empower women,” Hammill tweeted. “Leftists, @iamcardib , feel free to chime in. THX ..” Cardi responded to the caucasity tenacity by tweeting, “It says to women that I can wear and not wear what ever I want. do w.e I want and that NO still means NO. So Stephanie chime in..If I twerk and be half naked does that mean I deserve to get raped and molested ? I want to know what a conservative woman like you thinks.” It says to women that I can wear and not wear what ever I want. do w.e I want and that NO still means NO. Cardi also gave her political views when she completely slammed Trump on Instagram for his government shutdown: “I just wanna remind you that it’s been a little bit over three weeks. Trump is now ordering … federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid. This s**t is really fu**ing serious, bro. This s**t is crazy. Our country is in a hellhole now — all for a fu**ing wall.” The early seeds of a Cardi revolution or nah? Retweet Colbert if you’re for the cause.   Continue reading

They describe their list as follows: “Our annual survey of the year’s most influential creative figures is testament to how turbulent times can be a powerful muse. Among the honorees are entertainers who delivered catharsis, a chef who feeds hurricane victims and the creative team whose idea became a symbol of female empowerment. We hope they inspire you to create abundantly in the year to come.” For 2017, people on the list include Rihanna , Terry Crews , Cardi B , Stephen Colbert , Jordan Peele , Kehinde Wiley ,  Melissa McCarthy , Donald Glover , and many many more. As aforementioned, Terry Crews tops the list–but not only that, he also designed the cover of the issue. Many probably weren’t aware that the already super successful actor and former NFL player is also a talented graphic artist, but he showcases his said hidden talent with his rendition of Mount Rushmore. One of my favorite things about the @adage Creativity 50 issue? The cover was illustrated by none other than @terrycrews himself. pic.twitter.com/N2UA1jNxIx — brian braiker (@slarkpope) December 18, 2017 The list is an eclectic gathering of people who all exemplify a wide array of talents. Streetwear brand giants like Lev Tanju , the founder of Palace,   join more seasoned creators like Supreme’s founder James Jebbia . There are directors, actors, musicians, book publishers, showrunners, chefs and everyone in between. Though there are a good number of people already in the spotlight highlighted by the list, it’s also refreshing to see those behind the scenes be honored for their contributions.

Gregg Allman Dies; Rock Legend Was 69

Gregg Allman, the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known as the longtime frontman of The Allman Brothers Band, has passed away at the age of 69. Sources close to his family say Allman died peacefully at his home in Savannah. No cause of death was given, but a statement on his official website notes that Allman had been battling a number of serious ailments in recent years. “Gregg struggled with many health issues over the past several years,” the statement reads. “During that time, Gregg considered being on the road playing music with his brothers and solo band for his beloved fans, essential medicine for his soul. Playing music lifted him up and kept him going during the toughest of times.” Gregg formed the Allman brothers band with his brother, Duane Allman, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 1971 at the age of 24. Together, the brothers penned such Southern rock classics as “Midnight Rider,” “Whipping Post,” and “Melissa.” For many, the band’s distinct blend of bluesy roots rock and jam band psychedelia became one of the defining sounds of the late ’60s and early ’70s. Musically active until his final days, Allman’s influence as a singer, songwriter, and paragon of counterculture cool cannot be overstated. At the height of his fame, Allman was almost as well-known for his hedonistic lifestyle and high-profile romances as for his trailblazing music. Stories of Allman’s hard-partying ways contributed to his status as a living legend, but never eclipsed his music. (Asked by Stephen Colbert if the story of a private flight crew spelling out “Welcome, Allman Brothers Band” in cocaine was true, Gregg replied, “They abbreviated ‘Brothers.'”) Allman was married and divorced six times and became a tabloid staple during his highly-publicized split from music icon Cher in 1975. Within minutes of the news of his death, Allman’s name became the number one trending topic on Twitter, with tributes pouring in from family, friends, and a legion of devoted friend. “Words are impossible,” tweeted a clearly grief-stricken Cher. “I have lost a dear friend and the world has lost a brilliant pioneer in music,” wrote Allman’s friend and longtime manager, Michael Lehman.  “He was a kind and gentle soul with the best laugh I ever heard. His love for his family and bandmates was passionate as was the love he had for his extraordinary fans. Gregg was an incredible partner and an even better friend. We will all miss him.” Allman is survived by five children, including musicians Devon and Elijah Blue. We send our heartfelt condolences to those close to this iconic musician. May he rest in peace. And may the following celebrities also rest in peace, all of whom also passed away in 2017. Donald Trump Slams Stephen Colbert: I Saved His Career!

When Stephen Colbert began hosting his own show back in 2005, he was playing a character. The “Stephen Colbert” of The Colbert Report was a puffed-up, right-wing, bile-spewing egomaniac who embodied everything loathsome about American politics.  When Colbert left both the show and the character behind to fill David Letterman’s CBS time slot back in 2014, fans worried that no one else would be able to so deftly highlight the absurdity of political extremism in 21st Century America. Little did we know the 2016 election held in store. These days, your daily dose of “what in the actual f–k?!” is brought to you by the president himself, Cheeto Face McTeensyHands. It feels like if you tune out even momentarily you miss another jaw-dropping example of Donald Trump proving he’s woefully unqualified not only for the presidency, but for any position that requires regular participation in polite society. This week’s lowlight was Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey , a move so blatantly corrupt that even the Richard Nixon Presidential Library has been getting its shots in. But of all the people taking shots at Trump, it seems it’s Colbert who’s most effectively gotten under the president’s Day-Glo skin. Back on May 4, Colbert joked about the very friendly relationship between Trump and Vladimir Putin , and it seems Trump has spent the past week crafting his response. As usual, he choose “unhinged ravings of a lunatic” as his medium: “There’s nothing funny about what he says,” Trump told Time magazine today. “And what he says is filthy. And you have kids watching. And it only builds up my base. It only helps me, people like him. The guy was dying.” That’s around the time when a remotely sane person would stop talking, but this id the President of the United States we’re talking about! “By the way they were going to take him off television, then he started attacking me and he started doing better. But his show was dying,” Trump went on. “I’ve done his show. … But when I did his show, which by the way was very highly rated. It was high highest rating. The highest rating he’s ever had.” Yes, apparently Donald Trump has delicate the sensibilities of a Southern belle and he just faints dead away at the utterance of the mildest profanity. So next time Melania wants him to shut the hell up, she just play a tape of Donald’s conversation with Billy Bush . View Slideshow: 12 Donald Trump Tweets That Outline His Plans as President
