‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Extra-Long Trailer Drops

New eight-minute clip for David Fincher’s December 21 thriller pulls together complicated narrative. By Kevin P. Sullivan Rooney Mara in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” Photo: Columbia Pictures Trailers can ruin an entire movie. Two-minutes clips stringing together a film’s funniest moments or biggest thrills can suck the life out of a soon-to-be-released flick. Knowing that, it’s hard to imagine a director cutting together eight whole minutes of his upcoming movie and yet managing to leave the audience feeling as if they haven’t seen everything. David Fincher has done that with the latest, extra-long trailer for his upcoming murder mystery “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” The clip, which first premiered in front of select screenings of “Straw Dogs” back in September, is now available for everyone to watch through iTunes. The trailer follows closely to the four-minute trailer that hit the Net recently, but expands on almost every element contained in that trailer. What the clip does is essentially puts all the pieces of the complicated narrative onto the board in a streamlined version, setting up both the story lines around Daniel Craig ‘s Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara ‘s Lisbeth Salander, and how they come together. It stays with scenes from previous trailers for a longer amount of time, giving the audience a better feel for what to expect when the movie opens on December 21. In addition to expanding upon the story elements and characters we’ve already seen, the trailer offers the first look at Joely Richardson ‘s character, Anita Vanger. The preview also makes extensive use of the highly anticipated score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who are reteaming with Fincher after their critically praised collaboration on the director’s last film, “The Social Network.” Watch the extended trailer for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” on iTunes. Adele And Nicki Minaj Are Odds-On Grammy Faves

London oddsmakers also like fellow Brits Mumford & Sons in the major categories. By James Montgomery Adele Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage The nominees for the 54th annual Grammy Awards were just announced Wednesday night, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start speculating about who’s going to take home the hardware when the awards are handed out in February. 2012 Grammy Nominations, By The Numbers

From Taylor Swift’s major-category shutout to the army of collaborators on Kanye’s ‘All of the Lights,’ we take a closer look at this year’s nods. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: Flanigan/ Getty Images The big headline out of Wednesday night’s “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” event was that Kanye West came away with the night’s gaudiest number at seven nods. He bested heavily tipped Grammy bait Adele , who scored six, tying her with veteran rockers Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars , with Lil Wayne and party-starting DJ Skrillex just behind at five. Yes, there were some surprises, such as Justin Vernon’s sedate folkie solo project Bon Iver snagging four nominations and British tweed revivalists Mumford & Sons rolling up an equal amount. But it’s some of the other facts and figures we were more interested in. So enjoy the 2011 Grammy nominations, by the numbers: 0 : Number of major nominations scored by Taylor Swift for her smash Speak Now album. She did pull down three nods for Best Country Album and Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Mean.” 4 : Grammy nominations for the coaches from NBC reality singing show “The Voice,” Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine. 0 : Grammy nods for the judges (Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger) on “American Idol” and “The X Factor.” 6 : Age Rihanna was in 1994 when the first Foo Fighters album was released. RiRi is up against the veteran rockers in the Album of the Year category, where Dave Grohl (42) and company are the elder statesmen in a race where none of the competition cross the three-decade mark: Bruno Mars (26), Adele (23) and Lady Gaga (25). Lady Gaga Doubles Up At Grammy Nominations Special

Gaga opens and closes the show, with an assist from country duo Sugarland. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga opens the “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” Photo: Lester Cohen/ WireImage Anyone who has ever seen Lady Gaga is aware that she knows how to work a look. And on Wednesday’s (November 30) “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!,” she worked two of them, both about as different as could be. As she announced earlier, Gaga served as both the opening and closing act during the telecast, and, of course, those two roles required two totally different sides of the Mother Monster. She started things off with a steampunk -y version of “Marry the Night,” opening the song on a stage littered with smoking pipes and scattered bits of scrap metal. Her face done up like a skeleton (or perhaps Zombie Boy ?), wearing a black cloak, she solemnly sang the song’s opening lines, as a group of gothed-up dancers cavorted around her. Take a closer look at this year’s Grammy nominees through photos! As the beat kicked in, she shed her cloak (revealing a sport coat, matching underwear set and, of course, thigh-high boots) and hit the harmonies hard, while guitars wailed and those dancers posed and popped. Then the whole thing gave way to a particularly fierce dance segment, which brought the performance to a close and earned a standing ovation from the industry-heavy crowd (David Guetta seemed particularly pumped, it should be noted). And after the nominations were revealed, Gaga was back to wrap things up, and she did so in true Grammy style, joined onstage by country duo Sugarland for a husky, musky version of “Yo

Herman “Big Daddy” Cain Says He Will Be The GOP Nominee Because Black People Will Vote For Him

Who’s voting for Big Herm??? In a new Iowa mailer, Herman Cain says he believes he will be the 2012 GOP nominee because he’s a descendant of slaves who can garner a large share of the black vote, he didn’t inherit a dime, he has traveled the globe for years, and he’s a believer in Jesus Christ. “The news media and the Republican establishment are stunned!” says the first line of the seven-page mailer. “I am now the front runner in the race for the Republican Presidential campaign and the highly regarded Rasmussen poll shows me defeating President Obama.” But then he asks Iowans to tell him which of the other candidates they’re supporting, saying “there are lots of good folks in the race.” A “poll” asks people to check a box for a candidate among a list of nine in alphabetical order, including Gary Johnson. Cain lists several points on why he thinks he will win the nomination, including that “as a descendent of slaves I can lead the Republican party to victory by garnering a large share of the black vote, something that has not been done since Dwight Eisenhower garnered 41 percent of the black vote in 1956.” Time will tell if Herman Cain becomes the GOP Nominee, but do you agree with his logic here??? Even after he called black people brainwashed?? Source

Xander Dane Jones born to ‘Mad Men’ actress Tuesday. By Kara Warner January Jones Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images January Jones gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Xander Dane Jones on Tuesday. “Mom and baby are doing great,” Jones’ rep told Us Weekly. The “X-Men: First Class” and “Mad Men” actress admitted recently that choosing a baby name was harder than she thought it would be, especially given the fact that she chose not to know the sex of the baby beforehand. “I’m having a hard time,” she revealed to KRQ radio-show hosts Johnjay and Rich. “I’m looking for boy and girl names, obviously, because it’s going to be a surprise for me,” Jones said. “I love Cary Grant, I like Marilyn Monroe. That seems kind of like a celebrity thing to do, those weird names. I’m not really into that. I don’t want to be too clich

Chris Brown’s VMA-Nominated ‘Look At Me Now’: Frame By Frame

‘Seeing them together performing was so cool live,’ director Colin Tilley says of clip featuring Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne. By Jocelyn Vena Chris Brown in the “Look at Me Now” video Photo: Jive Chris Brown’s eye-catching clip for “Look at Me Now” is up for two Video Music Awards this year. It’s battling it out for Best Collaboration thanks to assists by Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, as well as Best Hip-Hop Video . The video’s neon-colored visuals came courtesy of director Colin Tilley, who has worked with Brown on five other music videos. When MTV News sat down with Tilley to take us through the clip frame by frame in anticipation of Sunday’s 2011 Video Music Awards, he explained that the video, much like the song, was a collaboration that was as fun to watch on set as it is for fans to watch the finished product. The visuals include lots of graffiti artwork, some of which was created by Brown himself. “Chris actually did a lot of pieces, like custom pieces, before we even did the video,” Tilley recalled. “We came in there a day early and he did some really cool custom pieces.” The one non-graffiti piece that really stands out in the video is the cage that Brown hangs out in. It went through some changes before it became the tricked-out version that appears in the video. “The birdcage, it started off more like a ‘Thunderdome’-type thing, but once we got the gold cage and we put the speakers and the gold mask, it just kind of created this really awesome thing,” he said. “This dance routine was crazy,” he continued about the next scene. “When I was cutting the video, I was having a hard time trying to get as much dance as possible … it was so good from start to finish. It was well-choreographed.” The real focus of the video is the stars themselves, who impressed Tilley. “We have Busta, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown together, all on top of an ambulance, with just so much stuff going on around them,” he said. “The ambulance’s roof actually caved in after the shoot was over.” Busta and Brown had a certain magic in their scenes. “Seeing them together performing was so cool live,” he said. “Busta Rhymes, seeing him perform this for the first time, I was shocked — he literally does not breathe [as he raps].” “Lil Wayne, of course, we had him perform in front of the DeLorean,” Tilley added. “We just put all these other things around him portraying that energy … when he steps on set, his energy is so crazy.” All in all, the video was really about these three guys coming together and getting crazy in the clip. “It was an amazing collaboration,” he said. “They were all really cool. They were down to make something amazing, and seeing them work together was really cool. I think everything was so on point with us.” The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Chris Colfer and Lea Michele React to Glee Ousting

Chris Colfer woke up today to contrasting news: he’s an Emmy nominee … and he’s on his way out of the show that earned him that title. Expressing shock over the latter, the young star spoke to TV Line about the latter development and said the following of Ryan Murphy’s decision to graduate those who will be playing seniors on season three of Glee : “It’s definitely not my choice. But I completely understand that it works for the integrity of the show. One of the things that I love about Glee is, despite characters breaking into song in the middle of the hallway, it was very real to me. It always seemed like a very real high school environment. And I think by having some characters graduate, they’ll continue having that element.” Michele, meanwhile, has also Tweeted a response to the news. A force on Broadway before she arrived on Fox, the actress will have plenty of opportunities ahead and wrote: “We always knew we’d graduate in real time. It’s all part of the plan and it’s all good! It’s going to make Season 3 amazing!!! To Gleeks everywhere, you’re in my heart now and forever. Love u all!!! This is just the beginning!!” Will you keep watching Glee after Michele, Colfer and Cory Monteith leave? [Photo: WENN.com]
