RODRIGO ARANGUA/AFP/Getty Images Friends And Family Are Left In Shock A woman in Panama City met a tragic end when she tried to take a selfie on a balcony. According to Metro , 44-year-old Sandra Manuela Da Costa Macedo was trying to take a selfie on the 27th-floor balcony of a building last Friday. Police sources say a gust of wind must have knocked Macedo off balance and she fell to her death with her selfie stick still in hand. Nearby, construction workers filmed the whole incident, worried that Macedo would fall during her photo session. You can check out the distressing video they filmed here . Macedo, who is said to be a teacher and mom of two, had just moved to Panama City from Portugal. Friends and acquaintances posted tributes to her online when news hit of her tragic death. Erick Alzate, a witness who lives on the same block the incident took place, gave more insight into the tragedy. “She had been taking selfies for a couple of minutes and construction workers on a block opposite were shouting to her to be careful,” said Alzate. “She decided to sit on the railing for the last selfie and that’s when she went over the edge.” Many of the reactions on social media ranged from condolences to disappointment, according to Metro . One person wrote, “Rest in peace. Such a stupid way to die,” while a Jose Guillermo wrote, “Peace for her soul and strength for her family.” Maria del Carmen wrote, “Such a tragedy that such a beautiful lady like you loses their life this way. My sincere condolences for your loved ones.” After Macedo’s tragic incident, Panama’s Fire Service posted a warning on its official Twitter page which said, “Don’t risk your life for a selfie. It’s more important to lose a minute in life than your life in a minute.”

He will answer to charges of DUI , resisting arrest and driving with an expired license on that date. Man Steals Clock From Police Station Via UPI reports: Police in Florida said a man arrested for possessing a stolen shopping cart allegedly tried to take a clock from the police station wall. Panama City police said they were called to the Hathaway Bridge around 3 a.m. Tuesday and they arrived to find Dennis Baugham, 51, and Michael Marquez, 34, fighting near the bridge, WJHG-TV, Panama City, reported Thursday. Investigators said the men were found to be in possession of a shopping cart taken from a store a few miles from the scene and other suspected stolen items including a tent, camping stove and camping fuel. The men were taken to the Panama City Police Station, where officers said Marquez swiped a clock from the wall of an interview room and tried to hide it in his backpack. Baugham and Marquez were both charged with possession of the stolen shopping cart and Marquez was charged with an additional count of petty theft. The men were taken to the Bay County Jail. Usher Losing 25 Pounds In Order To Play Sugar Ray Leonard In New Film Via HuffingtonPost Grammy-winning singer Usher believes his dancing skills will help him in his upcoming role as Sugar Ray Leonard in “Hands of Stone,” a new boxing film about the great brawler Roberto Duran. Usher said he has been preparing to play Leonard – a fighter with fast hands, smooth feet and a wide smile – for more than a year and still needs to lose nearly 25 pounds before shooting begins in October. The movie is based on Duran, a world champion in four weight divisions over a career that spanned five decades. Duran, whose nickname was “Hands of Stone,” rose from the slums of Panama to defeat an unbeaten Leonard in 1980 and claim the WBC welterweight title, only to lose the rematch several months later in the infamous “no mas” fight. Usher said he was honored to play Leonard in the film. “You couldn’t find a more stylized boxer than Sugar Ray Leonard,” Usher said by telephone. “He was an incredible motion guy, the way he moved around the ring, and I think my dancing will make it easier for me to pick up his moves. I’ve been working on familiarizing myself with the ring, sparring and just understanding how to move in the ring.” The role will mean dropping some weight. Usher said he’s currently about 172 pounds but will need to get down to about 150. Says the Atlanta pop star about his challenging role: “It’s an incredible story to be told,” he said. “The metaphor of determination and struggle is one we can all relate to.” “He had such incredible discipline, and he was flashy and classy at the same time,” said Usher, who’s been studying videos from Leonard’s boxing days. “I want to be as passionate and dedicated in preparing for this role as he was every time he stepped into the ring.” “I’m up for the challenge, and I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I think my overall feeling is one of anticipation. It seems like this is a real passion project. I’ve never heard of this Natalia Baccino before, and I’ve barely heard of DSS Magazine , but I’m liking what I’m seeing from both here. Apparently Natalia is a model from Panama, and judging from these pictures, I think she’s got what it takes to make it big in North America. And because I’m such a nice guy, I’d be happy to marry Natalia to help make that dream come true. Of course, we’d have to make it look convincing… But hey, some sacrifices are worth it.
Results show Mitt Romney winning the 2012 Nevada caucuses by a sizable margin, giving him his third victory in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. With 71 percent of precincts reporting, Romney has 47 percent to Newt Gingrich’s 23 percent and Ron Paul’s 19 percent, with Rick Santorum at 11 percent. In his victory speech from Las Vegas, Romney made clear that he’s looking ahead to the general election, focusing his remarks on President Obama. “Four years ago candidate Obama came to Nevada promising to help,” he said. “Mr. President, Nevada has had enough of your kind of help,” he said. “We’re not going to settle for a president who tells us it could be worse,” he added , trying to downplay recent job gains and the drop in unemployment. A victory in Nevada leaves Romney primed for what should be a strong month for him: Six more states vote in February, and he won four of them in 2008. Still, the race is far from over. Not including Nevada’s delegates, which will be awarded proportionally, Romney has just 80 of the 1,144 needed at this point. If someone were to start pulling off some upset wins – not out of the question in this fluid cycle – on or before Super Tuesday (March 6), we could have a race. Via CNN: Former dictator Manuel Noriega left France for Panama on Sunday, nearly 22 years after U.S. forces forcibly removed him from office. The 77-year-old is expected to arrive in Panama City on Sunday after a stop in Spain. Panamanian officials want him to face justice in the killing of Hugo Spadafora, his political opponent. Noriega was convicted in absentia in Spadafora’s kidnapping and killing in 1985. He has been in France since 2010 after two decades in an American prison. For almost two decades, Noriega was a major player in a country of critical regional importance to the United States because of its location on the Panama Canal. The key strategic and economic waterway between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on the narrow isthmus links the Americas. While in U.S. custody, he suffered from prostate cancer and a stroke. The U.S. government has portrayed Noriega as the ultimate crooked cop — a man who was paid millions by the Medellin drug cartel in Colombia to protect cocaine and money shipments. He was convicted of drug trafficking and other crimes in the United States. Noriega was indicted in the United States on charges of racketeering, laundering drug money and drug trafficking. He was accused of having links to Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar’s notorious Medellin cartel and, in the process, amassing a multimillion-dollar fortune. Amid growing unrest in Panama, U.S. President George H.W. Bush ordered the invasion of Panama in December 1989, saying his rule posed a threat to U.S. lives and property. Noriega fled his offices and tried to seek sanctuary in the Vatican Embassy in Panama City. He surrendered in January 1990 and was quickly escorted to the United States for civilian trial.
