LMFAO Hope They Have The Movie Awards ‘Anthem’

Kid Cudi, Chemical Brothers, Figurine and College/ Electric Youth also up for Best Music at Sunday’s show. By Kevin P. Sullivan LMFAO Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The right song can make a normal scene in a movie one that goes down as a classic, and pairing a scene with the perfect backing tune can shed new light on a song you thought you knew. So for the MTV Movie Awards , we honor the music that met the perfect movie and made the magic happen. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote and make sure your favorite takes the stage this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET to collect the Golden Popcorn. Here’s our rundown of the Best Music nominees: College and Electric Youth’s “A Real Hero,” “Drive” If “Drive” had been just a straightforward crime thriller like a synopsis might suggest, it would have amounted to nothing more than an average genre entry with a pretty face attached. Instead, director Nicolas Winding Refn infused every inch of this new cult classic with ’80s nostalgia, including an electro-fueled soundtrack, led by the College/ Electric Youth collaboration “A Real Hero.” The pick could seem odd at first, but as soon as it kicks in and all other sound fades away, everything just clicks. Figurine’s “Impossible,” “Like Crazy” Young lovers inevitably come to adopt songs as meaningful and important to the memory of their relationship. Appropriately, last year’s “Like Crazy” featured a killer soundtrack, suitable for the impossibly cute first love. “Impossible” comes up during one of the more difficult moments in the film, when our ocean-crossed lovers are apart and old memories keep new ones from taking. It added a layer of reality and depth to a scene that felt straight out of real life. Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” (Steve Aoki dance remix), “Project X” When it comes to throwing the world’s greatest house party, a badass playlist lands at the top of the to-do list, right below “invite people.” Just a quick glimpse at the clip proves that there’s nothing quite like this Kid Cudi/ Steve Aoki jam to party till the sun comes up or the cops kick everyone out. LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” “21 Jump Street” Now if you’re more in the mood for party music to get stabbed in the back to, LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” may be more up your alley. The song turned out to be the perfect accent to Schmidt and Jenko’s first big house party as fake high-schoolers, and it showed that you shouldn’t let something like a pesky knife wound ruin your rager. The Chemical Brothers’ “The Devil Is in the Details,” “Hanna” Similar to “Drive,” “Hanna” uses fairy-tale motifs and a frighteningly memorable score from the Chemical Brothers to elevate what would have otherwise been a rather typical Bourne rip-off. The music adds a whole other level of danger and makes the tale of a tween-age master assassin all the more sinister and disturbing. LMFAO Make No Apologies In ‘Sorry For Party Rocking’ Video

RedFoo and Sky Blu throw epic house party in cartoon-like clip featuring David Hasselhoff. By Jocelyn Vena LMFAO Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images First they had us shufflin’. Then they introduced us to the wiggle. And for their latest video , for the club-thumping track “Sorry for Party Rocking,” the guys of LMFAO are throwing the ultimate cartoon-like house party. The clip, which premiered Monday night, opens with an older couple (played by LMFAO’s Sky Blu and RedFoo) arguing over the ruckus of a nearby house party, hosted by LMFAO’s very own Sky and Red. When the older gentleman makes his way over to the party to complain, he gets the door slammed in his face. Inside the party, the guys and their colorful crew are wearing their animal-print and neon-colored clothes, dancing and drinking the night away. When they refuse to shut down the party, the older man calls the police. But instead of shutting it down, they join the madness. So does everyone else: from pizza delivery guys and sexy nurses to truck drivers and David Hasselhoff (who appeared with the guys onstage during their 2011 American Music Awards performance). And, while the older man is trying to shut the party down, he finds his wife inside enjoying the festivities. Who could not be charmed by a house party thrown by Red and Sky? As the video begins to come to a close, RedFoo falls over from all the good times. When he is whisked away by an ambulance, he drops his phone, which is later picked up by someone who begins to party rock to “Anthem.” Christopher “Kid” Reid (from Kid’N’Play , who know a thing or two about house parties) arrives at the scene as the party seems to be winding down to complain about all the noise. In the final seconds, the video very quickly references the hospital scene that opens the group’s very memorable “Party Rock Anthem” video , where they fought off a zombie-like dancing epidemic. Perhaps this party had something to do with the origins of the plague in that video. Directed by Mickey Finnegan (who directed “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It” as well as clips for Cee Lo Green and Soulja Boy), the whole video takes place in a world made up of cardboard cutouts and animations, making it a surreal escape. The video includes smooth dances moves from former “America’s Best Dance Crew” dance crews Quest Crew and the Beat Freaks. What do you think of LMFAO’s new video? Leave your comment below! LMFAO Envisioned ‘Party Rock Anthem’ As Song Of The Summer

‘It was a vision, a dream carried out,’ RedFoo says of song’s popularity. By Jocelyn Vena LMFAO Photo: MTV News It’s been a good summer for party anthems thanks to jams from Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Pitbull , to name a few. But only LMFAO were committed enough to name their summer jam “Party Rock Anthem.” The funky track launched onto the scene back in January, but really didn’t pick up steam until the weather started to turn balmy, and now it’s basically everywhere. Written by LMFAO duo SkyBlu and RedFoo (along with Jamahl Listenbee, Peter Schroeder) and featuring production work from RedFoo and GoonRock (who is also on the track, along with British singer Lauren Bennett), the lead single off of Sorry For Party Rocking is a synthed-out ode to having a good time. Adding to its party credentials, the song samples Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” and Eric Prydz’s “Call on Me.” As “Party Rock Anthem” faces off against the likes of “I Wanna Go” and “Edge of Glory” in our latest Song of the Summer poll , we wondered if LMFAO had any idea in the studio that the track would take off the way it has. “Yeah, it was in the coordinates, so to speak, if you’re gonna say ‘take off,’ ” RedFoo told MTV News. “We knew that there would possibly be some turbulence; we rose above it. We elevated above it and navigated to that position. … We had our sonar. It was a vision, a dream carried out.” Vote now in our Song of the Summer poll! SkyBlu quipped, “Houston, we didn’t have problem. We have success and nothing less than the best. Peace to the rest.” The VMA-nominated “Party Rock” video , which features some killer choreography and zombies, has also become a viral smash. SkyBlu guessed that “like 150 mil” had seen it. “No, it’s like 180 [million] or something crazy and I’m just guessing,” RedFoo said, and he was pretty close to the over 184 million streams it had as of press time. But the guys aren’t resting on their laurels. They recently appeared in the video for Lil Jon’s track “Drink,” off his album Party Animal , and they just shot the video for “Sexy and I Know It” in Los Angeles. Keep on shuffling, boys! LMFAO’s Sky Blu Was Other Man In Mitt Romney’s Plane Fight

Party rocker says the former Massachusetts governor started the scuffle. By Gil Kaufman LMFAO’s Sky Blu (file) Photo: Steven Lawton/ FilmMagic To date, the only party the members of LMFAO appear to support is the one that starts with shots and ends with being passed out on the floor in a heap of spandex neon tights and bikini tops. But group member Sky Blu made news on Monday for getting into a scuffle with former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. When news first broke that Romney had gotten in a fight on a plane, the identity of the other man wasn’t revealed. On Thursday, however, TMZ reported that it was none other than Sky (born Skyler Gordy), half of the “Party Rock” duo. According to the site, Blu claims that despite initial reports that he became “physically violent” first after Romney asked him to put his seat up, it was the former Massachusetts governor who started things. After hanging with MTV News’ Sway in Vancouver at the Winter Olympics over the weekend, LMFAO boarded a flight to Los Angeles. And according to Blu’s account of the incident in a video posted on TMZ , he was tired, put his new “Party Rock” jacket over his face and leaned his coach seat back while the plane was still on the ground. That’s when Romney began yelling at him to put the seat upright. “I’m trying to just adjust myself so I can go to sleep,” Blu said. “I just hear this guy, he’s, ‘Sir, sir, put your seat up!’ I thought it was a flight attendant at first … and he says again, ‘Sir, put your seat up!’ A little louder and more angry towards me.” If Romney had asked nicely, Blu said he might have put his seat up, but since he was so rude … Well, next thing you know, Blu said Romney reached out and put his hand on his shoulder and asked him again to put his seat up. Blu said he knocked Romney’s hand away, thinking nothing of it. “His wife screams. … They’re getting loud, so then the flight attendant comes over, and I try to get louder than them to plead my case. ‘No, the man assaulted me! I was protecting myself!’ I might have thrown a few cuss words in there.” In the video, air marshals are seen escorting Blu off the plane. He said they diffused the situation and though the police detained him for a minute, he was not arrested but given a ticket for the next flight out. “I have no hard feelings toward him,” Blu said. “I’m sure he’s a good dude.” And while Blu, an avowed Democrat, said he would not vote for Romney, he admitted he might get a drink with the Mormon politician … if he drinks. Spokespeople for LMFAO and Romney could not be reached for comment at press time. Related Videos This Week’s Biggest News Related Artists Lmfao
