Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger: Married!

Hope you’re prepared to get in a good cry this evening, because one is coming your way real fast. Patton Oswalt has married Meredith Salenger! Patton announced the news first, sharing that sincerely adorable photo above on Twitter of the happy couple along with his daughter, Alice. “What’d you guys do yesterday?” he asked. Ha ha, see, because it’s a chill caption for what was obviously a big event? Don’t worry though, because Meredith came through with some details. She shared the same photo on her Instagram account, and in her caption she wrote “True love. True happiness . Forever and Always. The Oswalts.” She revealed that the ceremony and the reception took place at Jim Henson Studios in L.A., and that “the uber talented and most geniunely marvelous woman” Martha Plimpton acted as the officiant. Martha Plimpton. Was the officiant. It already sounds like the best wedding ever, right?! As if this whole thing wasn’t sweet enough already, Meredith made sure to share several photos of her new stepdaughter — the daughter Patton had with his late wife, Michelel McNamara. In one she called her a “pretty girl,” and in a photo of Alice with Patton she simply wrote “My family.” Perhaps the sweetest of all though was a photo of Alice by herself — for that caption, she wrote “This little girl is MINE!!!!!!!!”, along with the hashtags “happiest auntie is now happiest MOM,” “I love Alice,” and “freckled face muppet.” Or wait, what actually could be sweeter than even that was the way people reacted to the whole wedding — with so much positivity! Patton and Meredith both received a whole, whole lot of hate when they announced their engagement back in July because people thought he’d moved on too quickly after his wife’s passing. Michelle McNamara died in April of 2016 , so there were just 15 months between her death and the proposal. It’s not really fair to judge him for moving on though, especially if we’ve never been in a similar situation. After getting all that backlash , Meredith wrote a sweet little note on Instagram, explaining that “Everyone has been so lovely to us… all of Patton’s family… ALL of Michelle’s siblings and friends and family… a few trolls have strong opinions.” “But I think for Patton, having met and found love after over a year of intense therapy and openly grieving and dealing with his pain… I am grateful to be the one who helps him climb out of the depths of grief and find some joy again.” “And most of all,” she added, “Alice is happy and feels loved. I have waited 47 years to find true love.” She also wrote that “Creating our family unit while honoring the brilliant gift Michelle has given me will be my life’s goal and happiness.” “I am deeply in love with both Patton and Alice and very much looking forward to a beautful happy life having adventures together.” Just from that, it seemed obvious that these two people deeply loved one another, and all this wedding loveliness? Patton Oswalt on Wife’s Death: I Think She Overdosed

Patton Oswalt may never get over the passing of his wife …  … And quite frankly, we might not ever get over Oswalt not ever getting over his wife’s death.  In a new interview, Oswalt broke his silence about his wife, Michelle McNamara’s, death , and the details about her passing are extremely upsetting.  Patton told The NY Times that he’ll “never be 100% again,” and that his suspicions of his wife’s death are mostly directed toward an overdose.  Though the coroner has not yet revealed the official cause of death, Patton believes his wife did, indeed, die of a drug overdose.   “I have a feeling it might have been an overdose,” he said, and claimed that McNamara had taken Xanax before going to bed.  “That’s what the paramedics there were saying while I was screaming and throwing up.”  Are you screaming and throwing up yet, or just crying, like us?  Oswalt said that at 9:40 AM the next day, he left a cup of coffee on his wife’s nightstand, as she was still asleep and lightly snoring.  He claimed he returned to the room just before 1 PM, and found McNamara unresponsive , and after he called 911, said that paramedics pronounced her dead when they arrived.  Oswalt said that he was so emotionally and mentally distraught, that he thought he was dreaming.  “I was literally blinking, trying to get out of this,” he said.  The worst was yet to come, however: telling his daughter, Alice.  Oswalt admitted that he’d turned to drinking in the months since his wife’s passing.  “I found out the hard way these past few months that alcohol really doesn’t help,” he admitted.  “Depression is more seductive,” he said.  “Its tool is: ‘Wouldn’t it be way more comfortable to stay inside and not deal with people?’ ” he asked.  “Grief is an attack on life,” Patton continued.  “It’s not a seducer. It’s an ambush or worse.”  “It stands right out there and says ‘The minute you try something, I’m waiting for you.’ ”   If that isn’t completely heartbreaking and day-ruining – life ruining, in Patton’s case – then we don’t really know what is.  We’re at a loss for words, but appreciate that even through his pain, Oswalt can express himself so beautifully.  Heavens. RIP, Michelle McNamara .  View Slideshow: 22 Celebrities Who Died from an Overdose

We’ve finally come to the most important development from a fun night in The Big Apple: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston engaging in a dance-off. Oh, yes, this really did happen. According to the Internet, the singer and the actor actually arrived together at the official after-party at Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel in Manhattan shortly after midnight. No, we’ll stop you right there: they are not dating. But they were having a ton of fun, getting up at one point and then getting down as a pair to T.I.’s smash 2004 hit “Bring Em Out.” This enchanting video was shared by jeweler and Valentino brand ambassador Carlos Souza. It starts with the celebs bumping along to the beat-heavy first few notes of the track, with Swift twirling and shimmying… while Hiddleston simply breaks it down on the floor. A bunch of people eventually crowd around because… how can they not? It’s a Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston dance-off! Ashley Sawyer: Catfish Star’s Possible Cause of Death Revealed

Last night, the world was shocked to learn of the death of Ashley Sawyer , the star of one of the more memorable episodes of MTV’s Catfish . The news was confirmed to the public in a social media post from the network: “MTV is deeply saddened to learn that Ashley Sawyer has passed away,” the statement read. “Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.” No cause of death was given at the time, but now Radar Online is reporting that Sawyer’s passing appears to have been drug related . According to a statement from the Hoover (Alabama) Police Department’s public information officer, Chuck McDonald, EMTs responded to a 911 call just after midnight on Monday to find Sawyer unconscious in her apartment. “Arriving officers found a white female unconscious with bystanders/witnesses performing CPR,” McDonald revealed. “Officers attempted to revive the female with the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), to no avail.” McDonald didn’t speculate on the cause, but an autopsy report indicates that Sawyer’s death “may be related to a drug overdose, possibly heroin.” Police sources confirm that Sawyer received a dose of Narcan, which is typically administered only in cases of narcotic overdose. The 23-year-old was reportedly pronounced dead on the scene. Sawyer’s episode is remembered by Catfish fans for the revelation that she and online friend Michael Fortunato were both “catfishing” one another by misrepresenting their identities online. Tragically, Fortunato died of a pulmonary embolism at the age of 26 just one month after the episode aired. Sawyer appeared on a recent catch-up episode and revealed that she had been staying in a sober-living facility after struggling with substance abuse for several years. “Shocked and saddened by the death of Ashley Sawyer,” Catfish co-host Max Joseph tweeted yesterday, “So sweet and kind. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family.” View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Passed Away in 2016: Gone, But Not Forgotten

Patton Oswalt Remembers Michelle McNamara in Moving Essay

Ever since his wife, Michelle McNamara, died in her sleep at the age of 46 last month, Patton Oswalt has been uncharacteristically quiet. The beloved comedian and actor tweeted a loving tribute to McNamara one week after her death, writing: “She wrote lines that stung & hummed. 13 years in her presence was happily humbling. #RIPMichelleMcNamara.” He included a link to make donations to in McNamara’s honor to 826LA, an organization that assists students with their writing skills. Fans of Oswalt’s know that he and his McNamara – a writer who operated the website True Crime Diary – shared a common love of words. The comic is as well-known for his eloquence as for his cunning wit, so it was no surprise when he paid more long-form tribute to his beloved wife of 11 years in a way that honored both her work and her devotion to her husband and daughter. He accomplished that today, in an essay for Time magazine that is both moving and full of surprising revelations about a life well-lived: After recounting her tireless work for the website that made hers a familiar name in certain online circles, Oswalt recalls McNamara’s earlier days and lesser-known achievements: “Those are facts but not her entire story,” he writes. “Her life also involved social work in Belfast and Oakland, and screenwriting in Los Angeles, and teaching creative writing at Minnesota State, and motherhood and marriage and glorious, lost years on the outskirts of the early 90s Chicago music scene, where she also worked for a young Michelle Obama. “One day Michelle Obama’s husband came into the office to speak to the staff. He was impressive and funny. Another encounter, another memory in a life spent fascinated with people and relationships and the unknown. “The reaction to her passing, the people who are shocked at her senseless absence, is a testament to how she steered her life with joyous, wicked curiosity. Cops and comedians call—speechless or sending curt regards. “Her family is devastated but can’t help remember all of the times she made them laugh or comforted them, and they smile and laugh themselves. She hasn’t left a void. She’s left a blast crater.” You can read Oswalt’s entire tribute to McNamara  at Time magazine’s website now. Jennifer Morrison and Naya Rivera: Naked in Allure!

It’s a good day to be a warm-blooded male. With Tamara Ecclestone nude Playboy photos making their way around the Internet, Allure has released a couple images from its Look Better Naked issue – and they feature Jennifer Morrison and Naya Rivera, both looks pretty darn good naked! First, check out the Once Upon a Time actress in her birthday suit: Up next, Rivera proves that she can do a lot more than just sing and act. The Glee star can shed her clothing and tease guys around the world with the best of ’em! Amanda Seyfriend actually covers this edition of Allure , but says her publicist would not allow her to strip down for it. Fortunately, she sort of made up for it by giving one seriously dirty answer when asked what advice her vocal coach for Les Misérables passed along. Seyfriend tells the magazine she was told to imagine “deep-throating a penis, get that feeling in the back of your throat, and then sing. That¹s where your larynx is.” Well, okay then! This issue will hit newsstands on April 22.

Patton Oswalt Facebook Post Inspires Nation in Wake of Boston Bombing

In the wake of Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing that killed at least three and injured 130 more, a nation turns its weary eyes to … Patton Oswalt? Believe it or not, yes. The 44-year-old comedian penned a Facebook response that struck a chord with fans and people who’ve never heard of him. It has been Liked nearly 250,000 times in less than a day. Oswalt writes that while violence like the Boston Marathon tragedy exemplifies the worst of our civilization, it’s easy to lose track of the big picture. That big picture, he says, is of a nation and human race that is fundamentally good, and would not be here otherwise, and which will always triumph. It’s actually pretty inspirational. Read it after the jump: Boston. Fucking horrible. I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, “Well, I’ve had it with humanity.” But I was wrong. I don’t know what’s going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths. But here’s what I DO know. If it’s one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we’re lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they’re pointed towards darkness. But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We’d have eaten ourselves alive long ago. So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, “The good outnumber you, and we always will.” Words to live by, no?
