You may think that there’s no way Game of Thrones could top the Oberyn Martell vs. Gregor Clegane battle in terms of jaw-dropping intensity, and you may be right. Then again, we all thought that after season 3’s infamous Red Wedding scene, and look how wrong we were. Game Of Thrones: The Watchers on the Wall Preview GoT has a history of pulling out the big guns for the ninth episode of a given season, and Kit Harington – who plays Jon Snow on the series – says season 4 is no exception and the upcoming throwdown between wildlings and Night’s Watchmen will make the Battle of Blackwater Bay look like a Joffrey vs. Tyrion slap fight. “I think it’s as big as Thrones has gone at the moment,” says Harington. “I think it’s no secret that it’s the most expensive episode they’ve ever made and a lot of that is due to CGI.” We won’t go into spoiler territory by speculating as to where those CGI dollars may have been spent but HBO’s preview of the episode (which you can watch above) showed a brief glimpse of some wildling giants, and their feet alone looked terrifying. “I think it’s as big as TV gets,” says Harington with regard to the much-anticipated scene. So yeah, even if you’re still traumatized from Oberyn’s crushing headache (we don’t blame you), be sure not to miss the penultimate episode of season 4 this Sunday. It should be a doozy. Earlier this month, Snooki shot down Star magazine claims that she was expecting . But she lied, according to E! and the Post , and is totally with child. Eeeek. Snooki has always said she dreamed of being a mom one day. “I want two, a boy and a girl,” she said in 2010. “I’m going to name them Isabella and Frankie.” No word yet on whether it will be Isabella or Frankie arriving this year, but the world’s collective I.Q. may well drop a couple of points. Didn’t see this coming: The Bachelor’s polarizing finalist, Courtney Robertson, was seen trying on wedding dresses at a Mark Zunino bridal store in Beverly Hills. Maybe a dress is just a dress? The “X Factor” judge helped shape the early part of the Canadian pop star’s career when he discovered her at the top of the millennium and signed her to Arista, launching her to pop-star status. Now that Reid is at Epic, he decided it was a good time to get back together with the singer. Lavigne couldn’t be happier that Reid snatched her up. “It’s really exciting for me, because L.A. Reid signed me. He met me when I was 15, and he signed me on the spot. We did my first album together, and it was really successful and then what happens in the record industry, you know, changes are made,” she told MTV News. “We didn’t get to work together, and I was so bummed out, ’cause I never had that connection with anyone ever again, like, my whole career at the record company.” Ever since they were split up, Lavigne and Reid have hoped to reunite. “Every time we’d see each other, [we’d be like] ‘We want to work together again,’ so we’ve been waiting for this day,” she said. “Now he is the president of Epic Records, and I just was able to move over, and so he’s taking over for me and we’re working together again.” Thanks to their reunion, Lavigne is able to focus on what she does best: make music. “We’re also starting music for a new record for 2012,” she said. “So I feel, like, really re-inspired, and I feel like it happened at the right time, ’cause I was really discouraged with record-company stuff on my last album. It was not something I was looking forward to dealing with again. Movie hits half-billion mark in less than two weeks. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Summit “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” looks to dominate the box office for a good long time. After two weeks atop the list of top-grossing movies, the penultimate film in the vampires and werewolves epic has already raked in more than $508 million worldwide. According to The Hollywood Reporter , the movie is the ninth film this year to push past the half-billion mark globally, hitting the mark in just 12 days of release. So far, the movie has grossed $223.4 million in North America and $285 million internationally, for a grand total of $508.4 million. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of this film and a franchise that the fans have continued to support over the past several years,” said Summit Entertainment co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger in a statement. “Thank you to all involved with the films from the actors, filmmakers and Stephenie Meyer to the most important group of all, the global fan base that continues to drive a desire for more Edward, Jacob and Bella.” MTV News asked experts how long this domination can go on, especially since the only competition this weekend is the NC-17-rated full-frontal indie flick “Shame.” “It’ll be close between [‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’] and ‘The Muppets,’ because [‘The Muppets’] has much better word of mouth,” said Boxoffice.com’s Phil Contrino, noting that it was too soon to say which would come out on top. He also predicted that the movie should finish its domestic run in the $300 million range and stay near the top until such holiday blockbusters as “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and “Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol” on December 21. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on November 16, 2012. Box-office experts weigh in on whether ‘Twilight’ series can top blockbuster ‘Harry Potter’ finale. By Kevin P. Sullivan Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Opening weekend has come and gone for the first part of the “Twilight Saga” finale, and “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” bowed to an impressive $139.5 million at the box office , just short of the series-record $142 million for “New Moon” in 2009. But $139.5 million is certainly nothing to shake a stick at, and a number of box-office experts MTV News spoke with agreed that the number represents a serious accomplishment, despite coming up just short. “When the final numbers come in today, ‘Breaking Dawn’ will have the fifth-best opening ever, a record I’m sure every studio wouldn’t mind having,” said Jeff Bock, box-office analyst for Exhibitor Relations . “And even though ‘Breaking Dawn’ will always be in the shadow of ‘New Moon,’ which hit $142 million two years ago when it debuted over the same weekend, ‘Breaking Dawn,’ and the ‘Twilight’ franchise in general, is one of those rare commodities in Hollywood that sustains its audience from film to film.” The question of the drop in revenue from “New Moon” still remains. By normal box-office logic, returns would ramp up in anticipation for the finale, yet the penultimate entry in the series could not top the second. Phil Contrino, editor of Boxoffice.com , said it has to do with the fanbase. “I think a healthy portion of the audience is growing up and forgetting about this franchise. It’s not enough to put a significant dent in the grosses, but there’s definitely an impact,” he said. As “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” approaches, fans of both the “Harry Potter” and “Twilight” series anxiously await to see which finale will come out on top at the box office. Asking the parent’s for permission, finding the engagement ring (unless you’re against diamonds), and planning the proposal, are nervous and anxious, but fulfilling tasks that men know they will accomplish someday.
