12 Most Shocking Game of Thrones Deaths: Where Do the Season 5 Demises Rank?

Every season of Game of Thrones is packed with jaw-dropping violence, and season 5 has been no exception.  Over the years we've seen beheadings, poisonings, death by infected boo-boo (RIP, Khal Drogo ), a man getting shot by an arrow while being burned (pour one out for Mance Rayder ), even the old “molten gold dumped over the head” trick. With all of these memorable demises, it was hard to pick just a few vicious send-offs for our list, but here are the torture sessions and Valyrian steel run-ins that really kept us up nights. Enjoy!   1. Viserys Gets Crowned Viserys was up there with King Joffrey in terms of douchebags we loved to hate. Even so, his death by molten gold is tough to watch. 2. The Death of King Joffrey Joffrey’s death wasn’t particularly gory but it WAS unexpected. And it certainly wasn’t unwelcome. 3. The Red Wedding Possibly the most shocking moment the series has offered up thus far. That GRRM certainly knows how to shock and appall. 4. Oberyn Martell vs. The Mountain Surely, one of the most gruesome deaths in the history of television. We even feel bad for the witnesses. 5. Tyrion Gets His Revenge Tywin and Shae learned a valuable lesson: Don’t mess with the Imp. Unfortunately, it’s too late for them to do anything with that knowledge. 6. Mande Rayder Swekered at His Own Barbecue! Mance Rayder was spared a brutal death on Game of Thrones. He still died, of course…it just wasn’t quite as brutal. View Slideshow

Drew Barrymore: Mother of Dragons Photo Rules the Seven Kingdoms!

With her permanent grin and sunny disposition, Drew Barrymore may not strike as you the most likely Game of Thrones fan, but apparently the mother of two sees something of herself in Emilia Clarke’s badass Khaleesi. Barrymore gave birth to her second daughter  in April and while she passed up the opportunity to name her kids Rhaegal and Viserion (which would’ve been awesome) she made up for it by posting this photo of herself, her adorable kids, and a shirt every mother should own: Yes, Drew even manages a Khaleesi-esque scowl, as though she were facing down the masters of Meereen rather than posing for a hilarious photo.  This pic has earned a spot next to the inspired Game of Thrones-The O.C. mash-up as one of our favorite unexpected GoT pairings of the day. We’re sure tomorrow will bring a new batch of brilliance straight out of Westeros. So far this season, the seven gods of the Internet have already blessed us with Game of Thrones meets Law & Order: Law & Order: Game of Thrones GoT in the land of Super Mario: Game of Thrones-Mario Brothers Credits And, of course, GoT explained by a stoned Snoop Dogg and Seth Rogen: Seth Rogen and Snoop Dogg: Game of Thrones Recap If you still need to catch up before Sunday’s season finale, you can watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic.  And for those who are caught up and in no fear of spoilers, check out our list of GoT’s most shocking deaths in the gallery below. Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams: Dating?!

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling broke up in 2008 and Jake Gyllenhaal has been linked to every starlet to pass through Hollywood in the past 8 years, so neither is any stranger to high-profile relationships. So have Rachel and Gyllenhall teamed up to form the ultimate young-Hollywood power couple? No , says a source close to the couple, but reports from Pittsburgh where Rachel and Jake are filming a movie together seem to suggest otherwise/ First, there’s this photo of the two of them dining out together that was snapped by a fan and posted to Instagram: Yes, they’re co-workers, but how often do you go out for late-night meals with just one co-worker of the opposite sex in whom you have zero romantic interest? Exactly. Then, there are reports that such outings are not uncommon for Jake and Rachel, and the two frequently spend a lot of time together on set before setting off for private evenings alone. The most damning evidence of all, of course, is that these two compulsively date other actors. McAdams split from Michael Sheen  just last year. The former couple met on the set of Midnight in Paris . For his part, Gyllenhaal broke up with Reese Witherspoon in 2009 after two years of dating. Of course, Jake also dated Taylor Swift, but who hasn’t?: 11 Dudes Who Have Dated Taylor Swift 1. Jake Gyllenhaal Jake Gyllenhaal allegedly took Taylor Swift’s v-card, then dumped her via text. 11 Best Donuts In America: RANKED For National Doughnut Day!

If we had a time machine, we’d use it to find the first person who decided to deep fry dough and then call it a doughnut so we could mouthkiss him. Or her. But since the origin of the doughnut is  actually a thing historians argue, with some saying it dates back to 1847 and others claiming they came before 1847 and that 1847 was just the year they showed up with holes, that’d be a trip the likes of which only Bill and Ted could rival.  So why are we talking about doughnuts? Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington: The Battle at the Wall Will be the Show’s Most Epic Scene Yet!

You may think that there’s no way Game of Thrones could top the Oberyn Martell vs. Gregor Clegane battle in terms of jaw-dropping intensity, and you may be right. Then again, we all thought that after season 3’s infamous Red Wedding scene, and look how wrong we were. Game Of Thrones: The Watchers on the Wall Preview GoT has a history of pulling out the big guns for the ninth episode of a given season, and Kit Harington – who plays Jon Snow on the series – says season 4 is no exception and the upcoming throwdown between wildlings and Night’s Watchmen will make the Battle of Blackwater Bay look like a Joffrey vs. Tyrion slap fight. “I think it’s as big as Thrones has gone at the moment,” says Harington. “I think it’s no secret that it’s the most expensive episode they’ve ever made and a lot of that is due to CGI.” We won’t go into spoiler territory by speculating as to where those CGI dollars may have been spent but HBO’s preview of the episode (which you can watch above) showed a brief glimpse of some wildling giants, and their feet alone looked terrifying. “I think it’s as big as TV gets,” says Harington with regard to the much-anticipated scene. So yeah, even if you’re still traumatized from Oberyn’s crushing headache (we don’t blame you), be sure not to miss the penultimate episode of season 4 this Sunday. It should be a doozy. Of course, if you need to catch up, you can watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic. And if you need to desensitize yourself in time for the upcoming insanity, check out our list of Game of Thrones most shocking deaths in the gallery below: 9 Shocking Game of Thrones Deaths 1. Game of Thrones: Officially Most-Watched HBO Show EVER!!!

All hail, Game of Thrones , King of the Andals, first of its name and all-time ratings champion! Yes, the numbers for season 4, episode 8 of Game of Thrones are in, and the wildly popular series has officially surpassed The Sopranos as the most-watched series in HBO’s history. Game of Thrones Characters In Real Life 1. Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen on the hit series Game of Thrones. The show’s fourth season debuts April sixth. No small feat for a show based on a series of door-stop books written in a genre that was previously associated with anti-social nerds and aging cosplay enthusiasts. For its peak episode in 2002 The Sopranos drew in an audience of 18.2 million viewers. GoT beat that number for the first time last week with 18.4 million tuning in. Prior to the acclaimed mob series that launched in 1999, no premium cable program had ever amassed an audience  close to that size. To put things in perspective, the much-ballyhooed Breaking Bad finale of last year drew a meager-by-comparison 10.4 million viewers and that aired on a network that doesn’t require a paid subscription. It’s a well-deserved honor for a show in the midst of what many critics consider its finest season to date. Of course, last week’s increase in viewership may have had something to do with episode eight’s much-anticipated  Oberyn Martell vs. Gregor Clegane battle , but considering the writers left us with a cliffhanger, much of the record-breaking audience may hold on to see if the powers that be will carry out the execution of Tyrion Lannister on this week’s GoT. It’s a possibility that’s already inspired some epic memes:  Whatever happens, the remaining two episodes of season 4 are sure to pack plenty surprises and continue to enjoy unprecedented popularity.  If you’ve shamefully fallen behind in your viewing , you can always watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic, and for your daily dose of horrific carnage be sure to check out our gallery of GoT’s most shocking deaths below: 9 Shocking Game of Thrones Deaths 1.
