Katherine Jackson Appeals Decision In Michael Jackson’s Wrongful Death Trial

Katherine just won’t give up. Katherine Jackson Appeals Decision In Wrongful Death Case Trying to appeal this case and dealing with Conrad Murray’s release may prove too much for Katherine. According to Spin: Katherine Jackson is seeking an appeal in the wrongful death trial that declared concert promoter AEG not liable in the early demise of her son, Michael Jackson. The initial charge was that the company had hired Dr. Conrad Murray — recently released after serving two years behind bars for involuntary manslaughter — with the knowledge that the physician was incompetent. After a long and complicated trial, a jury decided AEG did nothing wrong. They declared that Murray was perfectly fit to do his job, though we’re still not convinced he’s a good candidate for a reality television show. While Jackson certainly died by the man’s negligent hand (this having been proven in a court of law), and certain higher-ups at AEG displayed some disgusting behavior in dealing with the King of Pop (pushing Jackson despite his flagging health, referring to him as “the freak”), the matter appeared to be settled. Katherine Jackson’s latest move is being alternately criticized as a money-grab and praised as an attempt to seek justice. Regardless, there was $40 billion on the table on the last go-around Do you agree that AEG needs to pay up? EPA

Study: Smoking May Make Nipples Fall Off Fake Boobs

A new study suggests that women who have had breast implants should really think about not smoking. Why? Well, in addition to the many, well-documented health risks … Your nipples may TURN BLACK AND FALL OFF. Anthony Youn, M.D., a plastic surgeon in Detroit, is the author of In Stitches , a humorous memoir about growing up Asian-American and becoming a doctor. There’s nothing amusing about this, however. In an excerpt he shared with CNN, he relayed a horryfying problem among women with breast enhancements: “I cringe every time I see a patient for a breast lift who’s a smoker,” the physician reflects . “I’m deathly afraid that despite my warnings, she will smoke before or after surgery and cause her nipples to turn black and fall off. Yes. Smokers who undergo breast lifts may soon have zero nipples. “I’ve seen it before,” he says. Oh, and don’t smoke when pregnant either. Bad for the kid.

Conrad Murray Juror on Guilty Verdict: D’uh!

Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter on Monday, as jurors decreed this physician played a deciding factor in the death of Michael Jackson. It wasn’t challenging for Murray’s peers to arrive at this conclusion, either, one of them told TMZ yesterday. Dr. Conrad Murray Verdict Reading “It was a concrete decision,” a juror said , adding that all members of the panel were in agreement not long after closing arguments. While many following the case figured Murray’s interview with LAPD detectives likely led to his conviction, this juror pointed to the overall body of evidence as proof the doctor acted dangerously and irresponsibly. It wasn’t one item, it was all of them combined. There was never any doubt, the source concluded. Now, he/she is simply happy to return to a “normal life,” a luxury Murray will never enjoy again.

Dr. Conrad Murray to Serve House Arrest if Convicted in Michael Jackson Manslaughter Case?

Perhaps it’s a little too early to start talking about what happens if Dr. Conrad Murray gets convicted of felony involuntary manslaughter – he has yet to present his defense – but it does not look good for the physician right now. Between the Michael Jackson autopsy photo , the 911 call and most of all, the various holes in his defense , he’ll have to pull off a miracle to be acquitted. So what happens when and if he gets convicted? As for how much time Murray would serve, officials tell TMZ that Murray would be jailed for half the actual sentence. So four years as opposed to two. Moreover, because of severe overcrowding, inmates are eligible for house arrest, based on their prior criminal history, and their risk to the community. Murray has a clean record and, as one law enforcement official put it, “it’s not like he’s going to walk around with a bottle of Propofol and kill people.” So if the jail is filled to the max, the Sheriff could quickly put him on house arrest – if not right away, shortly into his sentence – ankle monitor style. Again, this is all premature. The jury could still find him not guilty on all counts. But right now, we could bet heavily against that possibility occurring. [Photo: WENN.com]

Dr. Conrad Murray to Ditch Part of Defense Theory?

Dr. Conrad Murray’s lawyer announced that the physician is dropping the argument that Michael Jackson accidentally killed himself by ingesting Propofol orally. What they’re not doing is dropping the argument that he self-administered the anesthetic in general. In fact, the defense still will claim that MJ killed himself . Murray’s attorneys say they have concluded Jackson could not have chugged Propofol , however, and will now argue only that he injected it intravenously. According to TMZ, attorney Michael Flanagan said in court today that a new study by the defense showed swallowing Propofol would not produce fatal results. The Associated Press initially reported that Murray’s lawyers ditched the idea that MJ self-administered the fatal dose in any way, but that is not accurate. Lead lawyer Ed Chernoff can and very likely will argue that MJ injected a fatal dose after awakening and becoming frustrated with Murray out of the room. Of course, that’s still a claim they may struggle to sell a jury on, and medical experts say that even if it happened, Murray would be responsible regardless . Not looking good for the doc so far, but his defense has yet to present its case. They’re going to need to pull a legal rabbit out of their hat on this one. Dr. Conrad Murray’s Defense: Michael Jackson Killed Himself

Prosecutors in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case alluded to the defense Dr. Conrad Murray is likely to use in court – that the singer killed himself. Not on purpose of course, but according to the legal team of the physician on trial for his death, Jackson killed himself with a fatal dose of Propofol. L.A. County Deputy D.A. David Walgren says it’s “clear the defense is operating under the theory that the victim, Michael Jackson, killed himself.” REASONABLE DOUBT? Is Murray’s theory enough to beat the rap? Murray claims he left Michael’s bedroom the day he died (June 25, 2009) to go to the bathroom. MJ awoke and, in a moment of frustration, injected a massive dose of the anesthetic Murray was administering to treat his insomnia. Walgren said of the Dr. Conrad Murray and his lawyers in court, “They don’t want to say it, but that’s the direction in which they are going.” In fact, they don’t want to say anything . At the preliminary hearing, the defense plans on staying silent and letting the D.A. reveal its hand. The defense believes there’s no way this is not going to trial, and as such, will wait to see the prosecution outline its case before it decides how to proceed, using both the above theory and claims that other doctors over-medicated Michael .

Michael Jackson Doctor To Claim Singer Killed Himself

Prosecutor thinks Dr. Conrad Murray’s lawyers will say Jackson self-administered lethal dose of propofol. By Gil Kaufman Michael Jackson Photo: Sony/ AEG More than 19 months after Michael Jackson’s shocking death at the age of 50, the only person charged in the case, the singer’s former personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, is due in court next week. And, according to a Reuters report, Murray’s lawyers plan to defend Murray against a charge of involuntary manslaughter by claiming that the pop icon killed himself when he self-administered a large dose of propofol, a surgical anesthetic Jackson used as a sleep aid to combat chronic insomnia. Murray has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and has admitted to giving Jackson propofol. Murray’s lawyers have said the physician did not administer any drugs that “should have” caused Jackson’s death. The investigation into his death was lengthy, lasting more than eight months, after which Los Angeles prosecutors charged that Murray gave the King of Pop a lethal combination of propofol and other painkillers and sedatives in the hours before the singer was found dead in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted. Reuters reported that in a Wednesday court session to discuss evidence in the case against Murray, Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney David Walgren said he thinks that the doctor’s attorneys appear to be preparing a defense claiming that Jackson self-administered the lethal dose while Murray was out of the room. Murray’s attorney would not respond to questions about Walgren’s statements. Murray’s trial is slated to begin on January 4 with a preliminary hearing that will determine if there is enough evidence to proceed to a full trial. Prosecutors and defense attorneys said they expect the preliminary hearing to take around two weeks. Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson
