Source: Prince Williams / Getty Kanye West has new music coming and he’s re-activated his Twitter account. One tweet, sent up Saturday, had social media debating all weekend: “I love the way Candace Owens thinks,” typed Ye, sending Twitter and other platforms into a frenzy. I love the way Candace Owens thinks — KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 21, 2018 Owens is a conservative social media personality and holds the title of communications director at Turning Point USA. In June, she is scheduled to speak at TPUSA’s Young Women’s Leadership Conference in Dallas alongside Tomi Lahren and other right-wingers. I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me. I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music. I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community. https://t.co/Uz1nB9K0Oz — Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) April 21, 2018 Owens was extremely grateful for the shout-out, tweeting, “I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me. I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music. I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community.” West’s seven simple words also triggered countless stories, posts and comments about Owens. While West never endorsed “what” Owens thinks, just complimenting “the way” she does seems to have struck some chords. Owens’ political views were widely summed-up as “far-right,” but she called out Perez Hilton , Shaun King , Complex and Twitter for misrepresenting her. When @PerezHilton @TomArnold and @ShaunKing , 3 white men, rush to viciously attack the freedom of two black people who refuse to be pawns to a leftist ideology—it should ring as a wake up call to the world about who the real racists are. None of you white men own my blackness. — Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) April 22, 2018 Owens tweeted, “When @PerezHilton @TomArnold and @ShaunKing, 3 white men, rush to viciously attack the freedom of two black people who refuse to be pawns to a leftist ideology—it should ring as a wake up call to the world about who the real racists are. The left is losing control of their blacks. Ready to be awakened? Watch the truth about my journey off the plantation,” she said before linking to another interview. At the end of the day, I’ve always been conservative. I’m pretty rational. I’m very fact-based. I will always value economics over social issues. I understand that that should take a backseat, honestly. You don’t wanna become a third-world country.” When asked how she would address social issues once economics are handled, she said: “I support gay marriage. I’m not really sure about abortion. I don’t really have a position on that just yet. I think through that a lot.” Owens also went on Fox News Sunday morning to leverage the life-changing mention from Yeezus. She said, “The left wants to strap black people to this idea that they are victims – they want black people to focus on their past rather than their future.” . @RealCandaceO : The left wants to strap black people to this idea that they are victims – they want black people to focus on their past rather than their future pic.twitter.com/IWW0NyF0hU — FOX & friends (@foxandfriends) April 22, 2018 In her current pinned tweet, Owens clarifies that she is not “far-right,” as the Twitter moment circulating describes her. Far right? Allow me to clarify: I believe the black community can do it without hand-outs. I believe the Democrats have strapped us to our past to prevent us from our futures. And I won’t stop fighting until all black Americans see that. I’m not far right—I’m free. pic.twitter.com/wtqCuYPtM2 — Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) April 21, 2018 She wrote, “Far-right? To many, Beyoncé is a prime example of feminism and bridging the gap that a woman can have everything a man has. She’s constantly spoken out on the power of women, of womanhood, and empowering your fellow sisters. She’s shared videos tributed to feminism, and has even signed an open letter calling for gender equality. One thing is for sure, Bey uses her platform to raise awareness that there STILL is an issue in how women are viewed and treated. Undoubtedly, showing a variety of women in the campaign supports the mission idea that women are not monolithic — we’re so diverse and are literally part of every industry, faction, and genre there is. The new line is already available at Topshop , and honestly, you probably will drop all your coins on the line if you’re not careful. Han Myung-Gu/Getty Images for Disney Facebook Group Planning To Sabotage Black Panther Ratings Shut Down A Facebook group started by an alt-right member planning to sabotage “Black Panther” with negative reviews has been shut down. Last week news spread that the maladroit mayo in the Down-With-Disneys-Treatment-of-Franchises-and-its-Fanboys group declared that they’d flood Rotten Tomatoes with low scores for the film. Over 3,000 people agreed to participate. Unfortunately for the desperate deplorables, Facebook’s shut them down because they “violated community standards.” Rotten Tomatoes has also spoken out and added that they don’t support the hate speech the rancid racists were spewing and if they try to downplay the film, they’ll be blocked. “We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment, and we take that responsibility seriously,” wrote RT in a statement. “While we respect our fans’ diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms, and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible.” The film’s director Ryan Coogler previously shook off criticism from the Facebook group and classily said he wants everyone to feel included no matter their politcal views. “For me, I’m looking forward to everybody seeing the film,” Coogler said to The Huffington Post . “I’m really looking forward to sharing the film with audiences regardless of what their political views are … that’s kind of where I [stand on that].” He’s a much kinder person than us. Image via Larry Busacca/Getty Rob Gronkowski’s Home Robbed Following Super Bowl Loss Talk about adding insult to injury … Following their big Super Bowl loss Sunday night, New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered another big loss. According to the Boston Globe , the police were called to Gronks crib upon reports that “multiple safes and guns” were stolen during a burglary. William D. Baker, Foxborough Police Chief, referred to the two losses as a “double whammy” lol: “I don’t know if you ever been the victim of a break-in, but when you are robbed and there is an intrustion into your personal space, it’s unpleasant whether you are Rob Gronkowski or Bill Baker,’’ the chief said. “For him it’s a double whammy coming off the loss.” No one was home at the time of the robbery and no one was hurt. Aw, poor Patriot.
The rollout for Taylor Swift’s upcoming album has not gone as smoothly as the singer had likely hoped. Her first release off “Reputation” was widely panned by critics, who also thought the Look What You Made Me Do video was, frankly, pretty lame. So now the question is this: Did Swift look to change up the negative narrative by acting like her bitter rival, Kim Kardashian? Did she actually get naked for the just-unveiled “… Ready For It” video? That’s what some folks are speculating after watching the footage below, which does appear to depict Taylor in her birthday suit. Taylor Swift Drops Revealing Music Video for “… Ready For It” But only if you look very quickly and not very closely, that is. With some Internet users wondering whether she had chosen to bare it ALL for public consumption, an act that would run contrary to her fairly conservative persona, Swift wrote the following on Instagram yesterday: “It truly warms my heart that so many ppl had so much to say about this bodysuit.” The singer, of course, is being sarcastic. A lot of the comments online from those who believed she really did go nude weren’t exactly positive. As trolls so very often do, they criticized Swift and body-shamed the heck out of her, all while thinking she really did take her clothes off for the video. In reality, she simply wore a bodysuit. To make this point extra clear, Swift shared a number of pictures on social media of her in said bodysuit. She took followers behind the scenes of her shoot for this video, which was inspired by the science-fiction genre and which features many special effects and pretend robots. It’s interesting footage, that’s for sure. And it contains plenty of Easter Eggs for Swifties, such as a reference to boyfriend Joe Alwyn , along with references to past Taylor Swift music videos. To make it apparent once more, however, it does NOT include any shots of Taylor Swift naked. Thankfully, most of Taylor’s loyal fans are well aware of this fact. They have rushed to their hero’s defense on Twitter and other platforms. Wrote one supporter: Do people not understand wtf a bodysuit is? The way the media is spinning this Taylor Swift music video teaser is crazy. And another: That awkward moment when people are trying to shame Taylor Swift for being naked, and it’s just a bodysuit. And a couple more: Swift’s sixth studio album comes out on November 10. Will you buy it?
At the time of his stunning death over the weekend , Bill Paxton was starring in Training Day, a lackluster drama on CBS. Over the course of his impressive career, the actor was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards due to his performance on HBO’s Big Love. To many, however, Paxton will be best remembered for his role in 1996’s Twister, an action movie in which Paxton starred opposite Helen Hunt as a professional storm chaser. It is against this backdrop that hundreds of real-life storm chasers paid tribute to Paxton on Sunday. They spelled out the veteran actor’s initials (“BP”) using GPS coordinates on a map across the “tornado alley” in Kansas and Oklahoma. The “tornado alley” boundaries are not clearly defined, but it spreads across 19 states. According to John Wetter, who works with the National Weather Service, storm chasers have never before spelled out the initials of a non –storm chaser before. But the gesture symbolizes what kind of influence Paxton and Twister had on this profession. “There are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of meteorologists today – myself included – who were impacted by the movie Twister and the role Bill played in that,” Wetter told the Associated Press, adding: “Twister was kind of the first time in a mass media place the meteorologist became cool, if only for a little while.” Paxton passed away on Saturday following complications from heart surgery. It is believed he suffered a stroke. “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker,” his rep said in a statement soon afterward. “Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.” The actor is survived by his wife, Louise Newbury, and two children James and Lydia. He was honored at the 89th Annual Academy Awards during the In Memoriam segment on Sunday night, although not in the video itself because his death took place just 24 hours before the show aired. Said Jennier Aniston, staving off tears, upon introducing the In Memoriam photo gallery and clip snow: Tonight, as we celebrate together, we also take a moment to mourn the many legends we lost this past year. Whether they were a musical prince leading the revolution on a concert stage or a movie princess leading the rebellion in a galaxy far, far away, a force of nature in front of the camera or a force driving it, each and every one was a cherished member of our Hollywood family. As was beloved actor and friend who left us just yesterday, Bill Paxton. All were loved and all will be missed. Amen. After weeks of rumors, we now know Kailyn Lowry is pregnant with her third child. There’s still word on the identity of Kailyn’s baby daddy (though we know it’s not Jo Rivera or Javi Marroquin, the fathers of her first two kids), but Lowry is no longer hiding the pregnancy from fans. The beloved Teen Mom 2 star took to Snapchat yesterday, and made no effort to conceal her burgeoning baby bump: As you can see, the bump is still in its early stages (no word yet on how far along Kailyn is) but the important thing is that she’s no longer keeping it under wraps. The pics uploaded to Snapchat over the weekend show nothing more intriguing than Kailyn engaged in some light home repairs, but they were quickly screen-captured and shared across other platforms as Lowry’s first visual acknowledgement of her third pregnancy. Kailyn has long had a complicated relationship with Teen Mom 2 fans, and the controversy of the past weeks seems to have encapsulated many of her mixed feelings. Fans were speculating that Kailyn was pregnant well before she was prepared to go public with the news. In fact, when she first commented on the rumors, she issued a firm denial in a statement to Radar Online. When Kailyn did share the news with fans, she seemed to do so reluctantly: “I am pregnant,” she wrote on Instagram last week. She added: “Please know that this was a choice I made. I already know some won’t agree, but I’ve been showered with support by the ones I love since I found out.” So it’s not the glimpse of slight bump that fans are excited about. No, it’s the fact that Kailyn is openly and proudly acknowledging the fact that her family will soon be expanding. Lowry was slammed on social media last week by fans expressing their disgust with her for having three children by three different men. It was a sad display, and it seemed to briefly get under the outspoken reality star’s skin, as she was uncharacteristically quiet in response. These days, however, Kailyn seems to be through with letting the haters get her down. And she’s back to displaying the sort of bold self-confidence that made fans fall in love with her in the first place. Amazing how much can be conveyed in a few simple Snapchat selfies. Eugenia Cooney, a 22-year-old YouTube vlogger, is under serious fire for what people are considering “promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.” Cooney is alarmingly thin – terrifyingly, upsettingly skinny – and though a Change.org petition had over 15k signatures on it, there a few things wrong here. First, Cooney may or may not be anorexic . If she is, that is, unfortunately her problem, and not our problem to judge her. Second, what if Cooney is dying from some kind of terrible disease , but she’s, instead, decided to keep it to herself? Third, if we banned all of the “unhealthy behavior” on YouTube and other platforms, there’d be no overweight people on the internet, no smokers, no drinkers, no drug-takers … the list goes on and on. The petition on Change.org reads, “Eugenia Cooney is a big YouTuber. THOUSANDS of people notice she clearly has an eating disorder by her physical features.” “These THOUSANDS of people tell her to get help. Eugenia doesn’t get help for herself because people with eating disorders do not look at their bodies the way healthier people do,” it continued. “This effect of her diet is not only giving her a high chance of death, but will also encourage her young viewers to look up to Eugenia and follow in her footsteps.” “Please sign this petition to help save lives,” it read. “I deeply care about this loving girl who has potential to be a real role model and [has] potential to be healthy.” “I know other people out there [agree] that Eugenia needs help. Many people die from an eating disorder every day,” the petition read grimly. “It could be Eugenia or one of her followers.” The petition’s author claimed that the petition wasn’t designed to “hurt” or “bring down” Cooney, but to “save her.” The first petition, titled, “Temporarily ban Eugenia Cooney Off of YouTube” was pulled down, but prior to its demise, had over 15k supporters. A new petition was created, and this new one now has close to 400 at the time of this writing. Yeah, Cooney is thin. She really is unhealthy-looking. We get it. Eugenia tweeted, “I’m really sorry to the people who want me banned of of YouTube.” “I’m really not trying to do anything wrong,” she said. She wasn’t done there, though. “I just don’t really think it is right to try to get people banned off of YouTube unless they’ve done something really bad.” Cooney also doesn’t think she needs any help, though, to be fair. In a YouTube video, she talked about her weight, and said, “I’m just kind of naturally like that, I guess.” “There isn’t really a reason.” Girl, just be well. And people, stop making assumptions about something that may or may not be correct, all right? View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Have Struggled with Eating Disorders
