Cali Teens Under Investigation After “Black People Are Trash” Snapchat Vids Go Viral

(Photo Illustration by Thomas Trutschel/Photothek via Getty Images) Elk Grove, CA Community Responds To Student’s Racist Snapchat Rants With so much going on over the holidays, we missed this crazy story of a California teen who spread her hateful thoughts on Snapchat , only to have the videos go on viral, forcing her to change her number and go into hiding. Racist Snapchat Video From CA High School Student: ‘Black people are trash; they need to die’ https://t.co/Rw3yhgp1q7 — robertmckinney (@robertm47487300) December 31, 2017 The Elk Grove School District released a statement last week in regards to the video, which features two girls who were identified as Pleasant Grove High School Students: During winter break, school and district officials investigated and met with the parents of the students who created the widely publicized, disturbing and racially intolerant video ultimately posted on social media. Below is the letter from Superintendent Christopher R. Hoffman sent to Elk Grove Unified School District families and staff to provide them with an update. The letter reads, in part: A concerned Elk Grove community member, followed by numerous concerned community members, reported to school officials that a racially intolerant video allegedly involving two Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) students had surfaced on social media. Due to the disturbing content of the video and subsequent public comment that identified the students as Pleasant Grove High School students, the report was immediately investigated and the families of the students in the video were located and contacted. All reports of bullying, discriminatory, intolerant and/or hateful speech are taken very seriously and school and district officials have been made aware of the situation. The comments made in the video are not supported by EGUSD in any way. This type of expression is hurtful and risks negative impacts to EGUSD’s educational environment and school community. School officials are currently working with the families and the students who made the video to help them understand the gravity of this situation and the consequences of discriminatory and racially insensitive expression. School officials will continue their investigation into this matter and will also prepare to ensure that social and emotional support will be provided for students when all students and staff return to school from winter break. Furthermore, plans to mitigate any fallout or disruption on campus will be put in place so as to maintain a safe, supportive and productive learning environment. Some of the comments made in the video include: “Black people are trash – they need to die…” and “when the police were killing all those Black people, I was so happy.” Only one girl is seen on video making remarks while her friend watches and laughs at the racist comments. Apparently this isn’t an isolated incident for the community: Do you believe the school district has taken adequate action? What college will accept this ignorant child as a student? Hit the flip to watch the offensive clips

White Privilege: University Of North Dakota Students Go Unpunished For “Free Speech” Display Of Blackface On Snapchat

Add University of North Dakota to the list of colleges to never send your black sons and daughters to EVER… According to Star Tribune reports : University of North Dakota officials announced late Wednesday that they concluded an investigation into two racially charged Snapchat photos and that they have decided not to punish the students involved. “After a full review of the information, the Code of Student Life and the laws pertaining to each incident, and after consulting with general counsel, [the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities] has concluded that neither incident constitutes a violation of the UND Code of Student Life,” the school wrote in a statement. The outcome was “driven by the Constitutional protection of free speech,” but officials wouldn’t disclose details of their findings. SMH… Free Speech? And not a violation of the UND Code of Student Life? So we guess there are no rules in the Code of Student Life about not being a racist bigots who treat innocent people with zero regard. Both incidents happened on Snapchat in September, just days apart. The first involved three students who allegedly locked a black student out of a dorm and took a picture on her phone with the caption, “locked the black b**ch out.” And the second showed four students posing in blackface with the caption “Black lives matter.” “As part of the conversation with student leaders, we talked about the concept of zero tolerance,” UND President Mark Kennedy said in a statement released following the investigation. “While I appreciate the desire for such a policy, it is unachievable under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.” Kennedy said that he was aware that students and other members of the community were hurt by the incidents and that he personally was “appalled” by the photos. At least somebody is appalled at that school. We don’t understand how the damn school President can be APPALLED and want a zero tolerance policy. Pretty sure plenty of other schools don’t let Free Speech get in the way of acting a damn fool. Snapchat

Alabama Sorority Girl Kicked Out After Sending Racist Snapchat

The Internet exploded this week over an image sent over the popular social media app Snapchat by a sorority member at the University of Alabama. She quickly became the most miserable person in the state not named Nick Saban. The image is allegedly of three college girls taking a selfie and reads “Chi O got NO n—-s!!!!!” followed by a few typical college girl emojis. Check it out: Initially, people posited that the Snapchat may have been doctored with the racist image, but the official Chi Omega Facebook put out a statement saying: “Chi Omega is aware of the image that has been circulating via social media and is in communication with The University of Alabama administration.” Amid rising controversy, the group said, “What was expressed is absolutely reprehensible and completely inconsistent with Chi Omega ‘s values and policies.” “Chi Omega took swift disciplinary action in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. The woman who took the photo is no longer a member of the chapter.” “Chi Omega embraces women from all walks of life, who come together to form a network of friends with high standards and similar values.” “The Chi Omega chapter at the University of Alabama pledged a diverse group of young women, which included several new members who self-identified as minorities.” The University of Alabama’s school newspaper, The Crimson White, picked up the story and reported Chi Omega had accepted two black women into the sorority. In addition, several others who identify as a racial minority were admitted. Judy Bonner, the University’s president, sent out a school-wide email saying: “We are all extremely disappointed when any student uses language that is disrespectful or offensive to any segment of the UA community.” Disappointment is putting it mildly. 13 Idiots Who Got Fired Because of Social Media 1. @CarlyCrunkBear Carly “@CarlyCrunkBear” McKinney, whose handle says it all really, was a 10th grade math teacher who often posted images like this on Twitter. Her employers were not happy and placed her on administrative leave. Her students thought she was pretty awesome, and protested to get her back. To no avail. She was fired in the end.
