By Kara Warner Jackson Rathbone Photo: Mark Sullivan/ WireImage/ Getty Images “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone has been a very busy man over the last few years, juggling his rising career as an actor, as well as working to establish himself as a musician with his band 100 Monkeys. It turns out that the 27-year-old is going to be even busier in the coming months when he and burlesque dancer girlfriend Sheila Hafsadi welcome a child into the world. That’s right, Jackson Rathbone is going to be a dad. According to Us Weekly , the couple will become first-time parents later this year. Rathbone’s rep told the magazine that he and Hafsadi are “thrilled and excited to be expecting their first child.” Rathbone and Hafsadi, 24, who is said to be five months pregnant, reportedly met at one of his band’s performances and have already been busy preparing for the baby. A source told the magazine that the actor/musician recently traded in not one, but two of his vehicles for a hybrid SUV in order to have more room for a growing family. In addition to the anticipation and excitement that surrounds the arrival of a new baby, Rathbone will have a jam-packed 2012 with the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” in November, along with the potential release of several diverse film projects: “Cowgirls ‘N Angels,” “Zombie Hamlet,” the dramedy musical “DaZe: Vol. Too – NonSeNse” and “Live At The Foxes Den.” Speaking of what fans still have to look forward to from his character Jasper Cullen in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” Rathbone told MTV News there is a particularly poignant moment in the final film that he can’t wait to see on the big screen. “There’s a very fulfilling moment for myself as an actor and as a fan of the books and of the film series that you get to see, in the end, really how much these characters love one another and how much they function as a family,” Rathbone said of the franchise’s final film. “Even though they are kind of an odd family of vampires. Vegetarian vampires, at that. They’re an odd bunch.” Send your well-wishes for Rathbone in the comments below! Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’
Although it pains him, actor chooses between Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to take home the Golden Popcorn. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News Having a hard time trying to figure out who you’d like to win at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? “Breaking Dawn” star Jackson Rathbone is weighing in on his picks for Sunday’s big show, and he’s sticking with his Cullen brother Robert Pattinson to win it all. Rathbone is even staunchly Team Edward when it comes to Best Kiss, in which Kristen Stewart is up for getting it on with Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. “How do you decide which is the better kiss: Kris’ kiss with Rob or Kris’ kiss with [Lautner’s] Jacob? Taylor or Rob I guess is what it breaks down to,” he told MTV News earlier this week. “I’m gonna have to side with my brother and go with Rob there.” Rathbone even dove into why Bella and Edward’s kiss really resonated with him. “What is it about that kiss?” he pondered. “You know, to me, it was … a long time coming [and] that understanding between two lovers, and I think there’s a lot of pent-up sexual aggression there, being young and a vampire.” Not only does Rathbone have to pick between Pattinson and Lautner for Best Kiss; the pair are also splitting votes for Best Male Performance, going up against Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1”), Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) and Zac Efron (“Charlie St. Cloud”). Of course, those three guys don’t even count for Rathbone — it’s all about his “Eclipse” buds. “Best Male Performance? Rob or Taylor, once again this boils down to [them],” he said. “I love both guys … but I’m gonna have to once again side with my family and go Robert Pattinson.” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? Jackson Rathbone picks up his guitar and plucks through lines from Justin Timberlake, Emma Stone and more. By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News If this whole “Twilight” thing doesn’t work out, Jackson Rathbone could have a great career translating movie dialogue into catchy little jingles for big awards shows. What better way to introduce a new category at the MTV Movie Awards than with song? And who better to turn one of the categories into a hummable tune than the multitalented Rathbone? When the 26-year-old actor isn’t occupied with all the thrilling engagements and obligations involved with being part of the massive “Twilight” franchise, he can be found rocking with his band 100 Monkeys . The man widely known as Jasper Hale in “The Twilight Saga” is a multi-instrumentalist capable of shredding on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, mandolins, trumpets and harmonicas. During a break from shooting a new movie called “Live at the Foxes Den,” in which he plays a guy who quits a major law firm to become a singer, Rathbone was kind enough to strap on an instrument and put all the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Best Line from a Movie nominees to song. Watch as Rathbone sings (and strums along with) some of the most memorable dialogue of the past year from blockbusters and Oscar contenders, including lines from Jessie Eisenberg in “The Social Network”; Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield in “The Social Network”; Tom Hardy in “Inception”; Amanda Bynes and Emma Stone in “Easy A”; and little Alexys Nycole Sanchez in “Grown Ups.” Check out the video and then be sure to vote for your favorite line . Jamie Campbell Bower Photo: Tony Barson/ Getty Images “Mortal Instruments” actress Lily Collins has finally met her magical match in “Camelot” star Jamie Campbell Bower . Deadline Hollywood broke the news that Bower has been cast as demon-slaying Shadowhunter Jace Wayland in the big-screen adaptation of the first “Mortal Instruments” novel, “City of Bones.” Fans immediately took to Twitter to voice their reactions, with many concerned that the 22-year-old “Breaking Dawn” actor just didn’t look the way they imagined the character — described as a well-built, angelic-faced warrior. Yet, for Cassandra Clare, who’s penned four novels in the supernatural “Mortal Instruments” series, Bower couldn’t have been a better fit for the part. “His acting of the role is perfectly spot on,” she told MTV News of the audition footage producers sent her. In fact, Clare was so moved by the performance that she broke into tears. “I literally started crying because that was my Jace and Clary on the screen,” she said. Clare understands this sort of rabid (and often contentious) fan fervor, which has become par for the course for any YA novel getting the big-screen treatment. “I think this is sort of inevitable,” she said. “This is what happened with ‘The Hunger Games’ casting. This is what happened with ‘Twilight’ casting. I’m old enough to remember this is what happened with the ‘Harry Potter’ casting. The reaction is always worried because people feel very passionately about the books, and they just don’t want to see something that is going to mess it up for them.” And just as the naysaying died down after Jennifer Lawrence debuted her Katniss makeover for “Hunger Games” on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, Clare has a hunch that unconvinced fans will soon see things as she does. “I think in the same way that Jennifer Lawrence has transformed herself into Katniss, I think he will have no problem transforming himself into Jace,” she said. “One of the things about being an actor is that you’re a chameleon and you transform yourself. And actors have done amazing jobs transforming themselves in the past, and Jamie is really enthusiastic about the role.” Read our entire interview with “Mortal Instruments” author Cassandra Clare . ‘It really wraps up the story in such a beautiful way,’ the ‘Twilight’ star tells MTV News. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News There’s plenty of “Twilight” goodness to look forward to at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards , but what Jackson Rathbone is most looking forward to is the sneak peek of “Breaking Dawn” that his castmates Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will present during the big show. Rathbone shared his enthusiasm for the final two “Twilight Saga” films when we caught up with him on the set of his new film “Live at the Foxes Den,” describing the finale as “the culmination of this saga, and it really wraps up the story in such a beautiful way. We had the amazing [director] Bill Condon on, and I was very, very excited to play Jasper once again in these films and kind of step up.” Fans who have read the book know Jasper and his lady Alice (Ashley Greene) have a very significant role in the “Breaking Dawn” plot arc, but Rathbone said he was more excited to show off Jasper’s love and devotion to his family in the next two movies than he was for his beefed-up role. “There’s an amazing moment in ‘Breaking Dawn’ – I can’t say which movie, though. I’m sorry, I’m not technically allowed. But there’s a very fulfilling moment for myself as an actor and as a fan of the books and of the film series that you get to see, in the end, really how much these characters love one another and how much they function as a family, even though they are kind of an odd family of vampires. Vegetarian vampires, at that. They’re an odd bunch,” Rathbone said with a laugh. “But, I mean, the way they love and feel about each other and the way they protect and support one another I think is beautiful, so I think we’re going to get to see that happen in ‘Breaking Dawn.’ ” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? The ‘Eclipse’ star made extra cash spinning as DJ Joyride when he wasn’t pulling pranks. By Jocelyn Vena Jackson Rathbone on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News Jackson Rathbone probably doesn’t worry too much about making ends meet these days, what with two summer blockbusters — “Eclipse” and “The Last Airbender” — hitting theaters next week. But the actor didn’t always have deep pockets. “When I was 17, I was always trying to find ways to make money,” he says in a new episode of “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday. “When I was back home for the holidays, especially for the summer, I would DJ weddings, birthday parties, all types of events. I was DJ Joyride. I don’t know why — sounded cool at the time,” he laughed. When Rathbone wasn’t earning dough spinning tunes, he and his pals were busy pulling major pranks at school. “We did a lot of prank wars,” Rathbone remembered. “We were kind of the prank-war gods so to speak,” his friend Ben added. But the prank-war gods had the tables turned on them in one particularly memorable instance. “We came back to our [high school dorm] room and we saw a ransom note in place of our trophy piece, which was a plastic model goose,” Ben explained. “The goose is one of those prized possessions you get and you don’t know why,” Rathbone continued. “You’ve got it, but it’s just something that you like and we discovered that our friend stole our goose.” This audacious bit of thievery sent Rathbone and his crew of prankster pals into full-on battle mode. “To get him back, we asked the girl that he liked to write him a note saying to meet him at the beach at a certain time,” Rathbone confessed. “He goes down to the beach. We all jump out of the bushes, hog-tie him, rip his shirt off, write ‘goose thief’ on his chest and make him walk to the dorm in his boxers, hands tied behind his back for all the world to see what a goose thief gets.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Jackson Rathbone, Keri Hilson and Johnny Weir — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.
