Ricky Gervais has created quite a bit of controversy over his reaction to the reaction of other people in the face of this week’s Oklahoma tornado. The comedian – who dared to mock Justin Bieber last month – retweeted an MTV News message Tuesday that read: “Beyonce, Rihanna & Katy Perry send prayers to #Oklahoma #PrayForOklahoma.” He wrote along with it: “I feel like an idiot now… I only sent money.” Gervais then included the following hashtag/message on his account: “You can support #Moore response by txting REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10, or online at redcross.org #ActuallyDoSomethingForOklahoma.” The comedian, a well-known atheist, drew criticism for making fun of those who were praying for the victims, but he was undeterred, Tweeting again yesterday: “Praying for something but not doing anything to make it happen has the same effect as writing to Santa & not letting mummy read the letter.” Gervais concluded that “the best way to help the disaster victims” was through monetary donations. Jason Collins became the first openly homosexual athlete in major American team sports when he came out as gay in Sports Illustrated last month. To hear Charles Barkley tell it, the operative word is “openly.” Charles Barkley on Jason Collins The response to Collins’ decision has been overwhelmingly positive, but the concept of playing with a gay player is still a major talking point in sports. Barkley said on The Dan Patrick Show that he has played with 3-4 gay men during his 16-year career, and those are just the players he knows about. The NBA Hall of Famer did not reveal the athletes in question. During the interview, Barkley noted that Collins himself has been on six teams, and that everyone who has played in the NBA has had a gay teammate. “I think it’s a huge deal,” Barkley added of Collins’ decision to come out on Monday night during TNT’s Inside The NBA . “I’m really excited for Jason.” What’s your reaction to Collins’ announcement? The parody Twitter account that bore Amour director Michael Haneke’s name actually got a few things right about the Austrian director. On Thursday, Benjamin Lee, the Shortlist.com Deputy Editor who, earlier this week, revealed himself to be the prankster behind the memorably loopy @Michael_Haneke parody Twitter feed, wrote about learning that the real Haneke is more of a “goofball” than he expected. And a cat lover, too. Benjamin Lee On The Real Vs. Fake Michael Haneke Twitter Account In a column for the British newspaper, The Guardian , Lee explained that he had started the Twitter account as a “purposely lowbrow” response to the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s “chilly, occasionally pretentious demeanour” and his contempt for the mainstream. Part of the fake Haneke’s shtick included repeated references to his “stinky cat,” which Lee explained, ” was a recurring joke made to distance the two Hanekes even more, not being able to imagine the director of The White Ribbon making so many references to his cat’s flatulence.” Lee has since learned that the two Hanekes are a bit closer than he imagined. While watching Yves Montmayeur’s documentary about Haneke, Michael H. – Profession: Director, he wrote that he was shocked to discover that Haneke actually is “the proud owner of more than one cat, a fact that few people know.” He also noted: “In the documentary, however, Haneke comes off as refreshingly candid. He has a charming sense of humour. Not that I had thought him humourless (there are darkly comic moments in The Piano Teacher and Funny Games ), but I hadn’t expected him to be a goofball. For example, when assembled with the Time of the Wolf cast, he pulls the classic bunny ears prank behind one of the child actors. Not what you might expect from the man who believes that all movies should assault the viewer.” Haneke’s Reaction To The Twitter Parody Lee also admitted that he was looking to get a rise out of the filmmaker: When I started tweeting as Haneke, I was intrigued by what his reaction would be. I was expecting apathy and possibly contempt but he expressed intrigue and, yes, a small amount of contempt. “I tried to read some of the posts but my English isn’t good enough to allow me that,” he said in an interview . “I’m really not interested in what he’s writing, but I’m fascinated by the fact that 25,000 people have subscribed to this feed of nonsense!” I fear that my affectionate spoofing has helped to prove his thoughts on the mainstream to be horribly accurate. But at least I’ve shone a light on those unsung cats of his LOL. I wonder what the real Haneke makes of this now. At the very least, he should let the world know whether his cats are flatulent. For about a month now I have had a plan to work A LOT of overtime in order to buy my 12 year old little sister’s friend a Justin Bieber concert ticket. My sister and I have had our tickets for almost 5 months and her little friend, Danielle, REALLY wanted to go so I decided that, no matter what, I was going to find a way for her to go to this concert with us. I told her I had a surprise for her and that it was “Top Secret” and we teased her for awhile until today (4 days before the concert) and let me tell you, this reaction & the smile on her face at the end of this video made all the long hours, very few days off, and very exhausted nights SO worth it!!! Three Massachusetts men and a 14-year-old boy were reportedly arrested Saturday night in connection with a violent brawl … at a baby shower. Bottles and punches were thrown and furniture was smashed. Police say 24-year-old Patrick Cardoso Lopes; 24-year-old Paulo Pires Depina; and 22-year-old Aderito Lopes Deandrade, all of Brockton, were arrested . They are scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer. The 14-year-old’s name was not released because of his age. Police say they responded to a function hall in Stoughton at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday and found as many as 200 people involved in the fight. One sparked, apparently, by uninvited guests. The fight, involving women, went on in front of children. Sgt. Daniel McGowan called the scene a “nightmare.” Another word might be “cluster*%k.”

Among the highlights of last night’s Golden Globe Awards, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig presented the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. But while everyone at home and everyone in attendance laughed uproariously at their attempt to praise the nominees – for movies they apparently never watched – Jones looked more angry than entertained.
