Amanda Bynes has agreed to lay low after her agent and manager ordered her to stop being a fixture of the Hollywood nightlife scene. Is a trip to rehab next? As has been widely reported, Bynes was arrested for DUI after she hit a police car, then returned the next night to the same club she went to beforehand. She was then involved in another traffic incident last week. As she keeps on partying (and some say crashing), friends are urging the star to go to rehab. “Amanda has been in a downward spiral for six months. Even though her dad publicly said she doesn’t drink he knows she has a problem,” says a friend. As a source told The New York Post , “She is not the same girl. She just does whatever she wants. Friends are concerned; it’s not the Amanda they know.” “It’s truly sad to witness. She is refusing to go [to rehab].” Says another alleged source close to the situation: “Amanda was just going out without thinking after her DUI arrest. She was spotted texting and driving and just putting herself in really horrible situations.” “Amanda’s agent and manager have ordered her to lay low and avoid clubs. She desperately wanted to go to Coachella last weekend and she has been told not to go the second weekend of the festival, but she is an adult.” “It would just look very bad if she were to go against her advisers and end up going to Coachella. She has promised that she won’t go and she hasn’t been spotted at any nightclubs in almost a week, which is a beginning for her.” In any case, Amanda did agree to lay low … as far as we know. Perhaps the comparisons to another troubled Hollywood starlet finally struck a nerve? “Amanda thinks its extremely unfair that people are calling her the new Lindsay Lohan,” says a source. “Comparisons between the two are just ridiculous as Amanda has never been arrested for drug possession or for stealing anything.” “Yes, she got arrested for a DUI, but that doesn’t mean she is headed down the same road. Amanda doesn’t harbor negative feelings towards Lindsay, she doesn’t even know her, she just thinks it’s sexist that the two are being compared.” “Men in Hollywood that get arrested for DUI don’t face the same scrutiny that women do; that really irks Amanda. ‘I wouldn’t say ‘mature,’ because that sounds boring,’ Ke$ha says about the sound of her next record. By James Montgomery Ke$ha Photo: MTV News Ke$ha’s Animal album was just released in January, but that doesn’t mean she’s not already thinking ahead to her next album, even if it’s royally screwing up her sleep schedule. “I’m always writing and kind of thinking of the next step. I’m still executing this record properly onstage, but the next record is definitely on my mind, and potentially in the works soon,” she told MTV News on Monday at the Casio “Shock the World” party in New York. “I was just in Tokyo and I couldn’t sleep. I woke up at four in the morning, and I had this idea — [for] the whole video and the track and the song and who I wanted to collaborate with — so I spent like seven hours making a really horrible beat on ‘Garage Band’ and singing and rapping into my computer.” Hmmm … that doesn’t sound very country to us. Still, on her new songs, Ke$ha is looking to push the envelope a tad, which means that she’s trying to move away from her hard-partying ways. Sort of. “I write all my own music, so [the album is] going to be honest,” she said. “And I definitely am not just laying around Los Angeles getting drunk with my friends anymore, so it’ll definitely be a little different subject matter, but it will still be fun and honest. I’m not done being crazy.” And while it’s still really early in the process, Ke$ha’s got plenty of ideas floating around for her new album … and she’s already got a pretty solid sense of how the album won’t sound. “I wouldn’t say ‘mature,’ because that sounds boring, that sounds like a jazz record, and that’s not going to happen,” she laughed. “You’ll hear about different things on it. CBS’s Early Show was eager to host Levi Johnston when he was trashing the Palin family last year – 5 segments totaling more than 24 minutes of airtime. But since admitting that some of his attacks were untrue, the morning show has barely noticed, making only two brief mentions of Johnston’s reversal and apology in a July 6 People Magazine interview . On Friday, fill-in co-host Erica Hill offered a scant 42 second discussion of Johnston’s apology in the show’s weekly ‘Early Wrap’ segment. She actually admitted that it had been “highly under-reported.” On Wednesday, amidst 2 minutes and 32 seconds of coverage of Johnston’s re-engagement to Bristol Palin, a total of 25 seconds was given to his apology. During the Wednesday coverage, co-host Harry Smith remarked: “How many times was that young man on this show talking really horrible things about the Palins?” Later, Hill declared that Johnston “said some rather unflattering things,” causing Smith to once again describe how “Levi was on this show a bunch, several times in that era, and did interviews with [fellow Early Show co-host] Maggie [Rodriguez].” Of the five 2009 segments about Johnston, three were exclusive interviews between him and Rodriguez. The first interview aired on April 8, while the second was aired in two parts on October 28 and 29. In addition, the show did September 3 segment on Johnston’s anti-Palin Vanity Fair interview and a November 17 story previewing an interview with him on the CBS entertainment news program ‘The Insider.’ During each of those broadcasts, Johnston’s allegations were hyped as important breaking news. On September 3, Smith declared: “The father of Sarah Palin’s grandchild is talking again. Someone won’t be pleased. We’ll tell you what Levi Johnston is saying.” On October 27, Smith announced: “The father of Sarah Palin’s grandson is here with some stunning allegations about the former Alaska Governor.” Teasing the November 17 segment, Rodriguez proclaimed: “Still to come, Levi Johnston says he is winning the war of words between Sarah Palin and him. We’ll hear from him when we return.” A clip was later played of Johnston: “I just look at her in disgust. It’s almost funny that she’s like 46 years old and she’s battling a 19-year-old and I’m winning and I’m telling the truth. She’s lying and losing.” After airing the second part of her interview with Johnston on October 29, Rodriguez read a response from Sarah Palin that said in part: “CBS should be ashamed for continually providing a forum to propagate lies.” Rodriguez defended herself by claiming “…we raised all those questions about credibility and his motivation for doing this.” Now that Johnston has admitted to making false statements, when will CBS admit its mistake in providing him a media platform.
