Miley Cyrus’ makeout session with Victoria’s Secret model Stella Maxwell got a lot of attention earlier this week … which was clearly what they wanted. They obviously strive to be seen and talked about, but was this just for the sake of flaunting their hot romance, or viral marketing for their new video?! Sexy pics of Miley Cyrus and Stella Maxwell making out were snapped on a break from the set of a music video for Mike Will’s song, “Drinks On Us.” Miley fans remember her dating Mike Will – also known as Mike Will Made It – in 2013 and 2014 … or at least hanging out with him here and there. In any case, Miley, Stella, Mike Will, Future, French Montana and Rae Sremmurd are all in the video, so seeing the girls making out on and off set? We’re not saying it’s staged to hype up the video, but we can’t say it isn’t. Of course, Miley reportedly started dating Stella weeks prior to this. Ever since she and Patrick Schwarzenegger broke it off, they’ve been seen together quite often, and undoubtedly looking like a couple at times. Stella recently attended a Miley concert and posted a video of herself singing along to Miley’s NSFW song lyrics, so these two are into each other. The only question is whether it’s platonic or more than that, and given that Maxwell has a history with male celebs AND a Victoria’s Secret model? We have absolutely no idea. Our guess is there’s a gray area and some very blurred lines involved here when it comes to the friend zone and what’s real, vs. what’s for show. Either way … HOT!!!! By now you’ve probably heard more than a few wacky rumors regarding Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce . There’s been the run-of-the-mill Ben drinks and gambles too much stuff, but there are also some more out-there theories for the tin foil hat crowd. For example, have you heard the one about how Matt Damon drove Jen and Ben apart ? Yup, that’s something people are actually saying. There’s been so much absurd chatter surrounding the end of this marriage that we can’t even pass it all along. (Trust us, most of it isn’t worth your time.) But every once in a while, a gem comes along that’s simply too good to ignore, such as the ridiculous claim made today by the (n)ever-reliable UK tabloid the Sun. Apparently, an insider tells the Sun that Ben has remained friends with Jennifer Lopez in the years since they dated, and Jen 2 (Garner) was initially cool with it. But after Affleck was spotted getting flirty with Lopez at the Oscars , Garner did some digging and discovered that the exes had been spending more time together than she realized. Needless to say, Garner was pissed, and the ensuing argument led to the silent treatment, which was followed by divorce. The Sun even goes so far as to claim that the Bennifer 2.0 breakup is just the first step in Affleck and Lopez getting back together. “Everyone is talking about J-Lo and Ben and saying it’s inevitable they will get together again at some point,” says the insider. “We call them the Richard Burton and Liz Taylor of Hollywood.” Wouldn’t Richard Burton and Liz Taylor be the Richard Burton and Liz Taylor of Hollywood? Anyway, we highly doubt a Lopez-Affleck reunion is in the cards (if for not other reason than J-Lo is already in a serious relationship). So we guess you’ll just have to get your early-2000s nostalgia fix somewhere else. Maybe Hot Topic is having a sale on trucker hats or something. The feature documentary had a limited roll out in Texas and other locations in mid-July, but after expanding to additional screens in the lead-up to the Republican convention, it has reaped more than $10.5 million to date at the box office. (The doc is second only, so far, to Katy Perry: Part of Me , which has earned in excess of $25.3 million domestically, as the top non-fiction film of the year.) Those box-office numbers could get a boost now that the anti-Obama doc has scored a high-power endorsement from conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch. The embattled News Corp. chairman gave 2016: Obama’s America his thumbs up via Twitter, even as questions arise about the veracity of the film’s assertions. Murdoch said via a Tweet : Just saw 2016. Truly scary if no answer. Every voter should see and decide for self what future they want for America. Obama’s America is based on Dinesh D’Souza’s 2010 New York Times -best selling book The Roots of Obama’s Rage . D’Souza and John Sullivan co-directed and co-wrote the film, and the filmmakers said that Murdoch asked for a screener of the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter . In part, the film scrutinizes Obama’s Kenyan-born father and his alleged anti-colonialist views. (What is now Kenya gained independence from Great Britain in 1964). The elder Obama’s views, according to D’Souza, explain why President Obama rejects “American Exceptionalism” and why the author-filmmaker believes he is aiming to “re-shape America” by reducing the U.S.’s overall global reach and influence. According to the AP, 2016: Obama’s America also asserts the president’s views were reinforced by his upbringing in Hawaii, which was effectively annexed by the U.S. after the overthrow of its monarchy in the 1890s. Obama’s father left his family when Barack was just 2 years old and visited only once when the future president was was 10, the AP reports , but D’Souza’s film argues that this absence actually reinforced the son’s ties to his father, who died in a car accident when Obama fils was in college. D’Souza interviews NYU psychologist Paul Vitz who studies the impact of absent fathers. Vitz says the void meant that “he has the tension between the Americanism and his Africanism. He himself is an intersection of major political forces in his own psychology.” 2016 also delves into a host of issues ranging from the Federal Deficit to Obama’s supposed “weirdly sympathetic” leanings to Muslim jihadists. While the debt has grown by $16 trillion under Obama, the film fails to mention the 2008 global financial crisis that preceded it under his predecessor, George W. Bush. And it does not mention his order to kill Osama Bin Laden in May 2011. [ Have you seen 2016: Obama’s America? Tell us what you think… ] [Sources: A.P. , THR ]
The Telluride Film Festival offers a bright spotlight, showcasing a small selection of films over Labor Day weekend just as summer movies give way to a more serious season of cinema. Later this year, moviegoers will be talking about Bill Murray as Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Marion Cotillard as a woman who loses her legs to a killer whale and even a small town story starring Zac Efron as an aspiring NASCAR racer and Dennis Quaid as his father, an Iowa farmer. Those three films – Roger Michell’s Hyde Park on Hudson , Jacques Audiard ‘s Rust and Bone and Ramin Bahrani’s At Any Price – lead a roster of acclaimed and anticipated new movies that will screen at this weekend’s tony Telluride Film Festival. Telluride’s annual lineup is famously revealed just as attendees arrive in the Colorado mountain town for the four-day event. Even so Gary Meyer, one of the heads of the festival, privately previewed the lineup for a few journalists earlier this week and then swore them to secrecy. Telluride attendees consider movies sacred. Spoilers are frowned upon. “So, what do you think?” Meyer asked as he detailed the lineup for the 39th annual festival. “It was pretty much down to the wire,” he added about this year’s roster. He also teased that he and festival directors Tom Luddy and Julie Huntsinger have a surprise screening up their sleeves. It will screen in a still to be named slot some time between tomorrow and Labor Day. So now it can be revealed that even as it screens in the Venice Fest this weekend the anticipated American indie At Any Price will be unveiled in Telluride before heading to the Toronto International Film Festival next week. Filmmaker Ramin Bahrani has created a family drama that also explores globalization and Big Agriculture. In addition to Quaid and Efron, the film stars Heather Graham and Kim Dickens. Bahrani is expected to fly in from Venice in time for this weekend’s showings of the film here in Colorado. Also making the trek from Italy to Telluride will be French filmmaker Xavier Giannoli. His latest is described by the Telluride festival as a Kafkaesque tale. In Gianoli’s latest, Superstar , top name French actor Kad Merad plays the everyman. One day he wakes and heads to work only to discover that he’s famous. He has no idea why people are asking for his autograph and snapping his photo with their mobile phones while he rides to work on the Paris Metro. The comedy also stars Cecile de France who gained domestic attention for her turn in last year’s Dardenne Brothers drama, The Kid With A Bike . Roger Michell’s Hyde Park on Hudson was a safe bet for Telluride lineup prognosticators. It stars local Laura Linney, a festival fixture. In the film she stars alongside Bill Murray, appearing as FDR’s younger, distant cousin, Margaret Suckley. Linney’s character guides guests – in this case the King and Queen of England in 1939 – at Roosevelt’s residence in rural New York State and also falls for FDR. The new film will next head to the Toronto Film Festival. Sally Potter’s Ginger and Rosa will make the same journey. It stars Elle Fanning and Alice Englert as best friends in the 60s growing up and experiencing the anxieties and excitement of the era. The cast is rounded out by Timothy Spall, Oliver Platt, Annette Bening, Alessandro Nivola and Christina Hendricks. Also on tap are Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha starring Greta Gerwig and Michael Winterbottom’s Everyday with Shirley Henderson. Both will also go from Telluride to the Toronto fest next week. Telluride will pay tribute to a pair of European actors this weekend. Marion Cotillard will be honored and appear here alongside her latest, Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone from this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Also acclaimed at the French fest this year was Mads Mikkelsen. He turned heads for his starring role in Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt and has also been on the fest circuit in Nikolaj Arcel’s A Royal Affair . Both films will screen in Telluride this weekend as festival salutes the Danish leading man. About three dozen new feature films will screen at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend, complemented by classic and retrospective entries, as well as short films, film oddities and even some Looney Tunes cartoons in honor of the 100th anniversary of director Chuck Jones’ birth. The 39th Telluride Film Festival Premieres Lineup : The Act of Killing (Joshua Oppenheimer, Denmark, 2012) Amour (Michael Haneke, Austria, 2012) At Any Price (Ramin Bahrani, US, 2012) The Attack (Ziad Doueiri, Lebanon/France, 2012) Barbara (Christian Petzold, Germany, 2012) Breaking the Frame (Marielle Nitoslawska, Canada, 2012) Carriere 250 Meters (Juan Carlos Rulfo, Mexico, 2012) Celluloid Man: A Film on P.K. When Lindsay Lohan signed on to play Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick it was tough to know what to expect. Now that three new photos from the tele-biopic have landed, we have our answer: Behold, LiLo dressed up as Liz Taylor circa 1960 on the set of Cleopatra , LiLo as Liz Taylor marrying Richard Burton in 1964, and DEAR GOD, LILO AS LIZ TAYLOR WITH GIANT POOFY ’80S HAIR AND SHOULDER PADS. Guys, poofy ’80s hair was not part of the deal. It’s the Joan Collinsesque car shot that I find most mesmerizing: Art imitating real paparazzi-hounded life, that downturned gaze, the angst emanating from that pout, that giant helmet of hair in orbit around her head. November 3 can’t come fast enough, though that does give you two months to stockpile all the booze and popcorn and Aqua Net you’ll need to plan those Liz & Dick viewing parties… [Lifetime via Vulture ]
Lindsay Lohan is officially back doing what she does best. The actress might have been getting into character as Elizabeth Taylor , but what would the Hollywood icon think of this display on the set of Lifetime’s Liz & Dick? The oft-troubled train wreck was anything but elegant as she struggled to keep her breasts inside a low-cut halter dress while shooting scenes with Grant Bowler: Trying to channel old Hollywood glamour on the set of the much-anticipated biopic, LiLo fell short, though she did show off two reasons why she landed the part. The film, which documents the rocky on-again off-again relationship between Taylor and two-time husband Richard Burton is off to a rocky start in its own right. Lindsay, 25, squeezed into a retro 1960s-style sundress, but as she and Bowler argued during this particular scene, the actress’ chest busted out for all to see. Check out more Lindsay Lohan pics after the jump for a closer angle: Wow. We really need to see this movie all of a sudden . [Photos: Pacific Coast News]
‘I hope to give her fans something to treasure,’ Cissy Houston says about her book on Whitney. By Gil Kaufman Cissy Houston and Whitney Houston Photo: Getty Images Whitney Houston’s mother, gospel great Cissy Houston, is prepping a memoir on her famous daughter that promises to tell the “unabridged and unbelievable” story of Whitney’s career. According to the The Associated Press , the as-yet untitled book is scheduled to come out in February, one year after the Grammy-winning singer died of accidental drowning in her Beverly Hills hotel bathtub on the eve of the Grammys at age 48. “When I lost my daughter Nippy (Whitney Houston’s nickname), the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman,” Cissy Houston said in a statement released by the book’s publisher. “In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.” Publisher HarperCollins promised that Cissy Houston would write with “candor honesty and respect,” in chronicling her daughter’s career heights, as well as Whitney’s legendary drug problems, tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown and her own grief. “She will tell the unabridged and unbelievable story of her daughter’s life as well as her own, addressing Whitney’s brightest and darkest moments while helping fans around the world understand the complexities of this extraordinary star who died much too soon,” the publisher said. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to Newark, New Jersey’s New Hope Baptist Church, the house of worship where Whitney grew up singing in the choir, as well as the church where her funeral was held. “Ultimately, Cissy will go behind the headlines to show the true, human side of this strong, successful yet complicated musical icon, capturing the dramatic depths and soaring range of an extraordinary woman, along with the pain and heartbreak of a grieving mother as she struggles with impossible loss,” according to the publisher. Before Houston’s book hits shelves, a documentary focusing on the 48 hours leading up to this year’s Grammy Awards will premiere on June 11 at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The 26-minute movie will look at how the show dealt with Houston’s death and include interviews with host LL Cool J, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen and Jennifer Hudson. Actress is photographed on the set of the Elizabeth Taylor biopic with her co-star Grant Bowler. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan as Liz Taylor in ‘Liz & Dick’ Photo: Richard McClaren/Lifetime Lindsay Lohan certainly looks happy getting her Elizabeth Taylor on in a new still from her biopic, “Liz & Dick.” She’s all done up like the Hollywood legend in the first official photo from the film, complete with a black bob, smoky eye makeup and lipstick. The black-and-white still also features her Richard Burton, “True Blood” actor Grant Bowler, kissing the smiling actress’ neck. E! News reports that the photo was shot on May 29 at Lifetime Studios. The source added that they released the photo in black and white because they wanted to give it a “classic” look. In addition to the official first look, there have been several paparazzi shots of Lohan on set that have hit the Internet. On Monday, a photo of Lohan wearing a leopard-print bathing suit and sunglasses while hanging out a boat was released on People.com . That same day, another photo of the star channeling Taylor hit TMZ . In it, she’s wearing an emerald green and ivory colored gown, smoking a cigarette. The site reports that Lohan isn’t wearing a wig in the film, but instead had her hair cut and colored to mimic the screen legend’s own signature look. On Tuesday, Lohan and Bowler were photographed on a boat in what appeared to be a heated scene, where he was physically tossing her about (resulting in a bit of a wardrobe malfunction for Lohan). The Daily Mail reports that the scene will re-create the couple’s splashy vacation in Naples in 1965. The story will focus on the steamy — and contentious — love affair between Taylor and Burton. The pair defined and redefined the rules for modern celebrity life as their torrid love affair often made the kind of the kind of headlines that would rival Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor,” Lohan said in the statement. “She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.” Do you think Lindsay Lohan will make a good Elizabeth Taylor? Leave your comment below! Related Artists Lindsay Lohan
For as long as this Lindsay Lohan -starring Liz & Dick has been swirling around in the ether, it’s been difficult to nail down exactly what sort of project it might turn out to be; it is a Lifetime movie, after all, even if it’s one concerned with the Hollywood glamor surrounding Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and their legendary, tempestuous romance. So the caliber of Lohan’s co-star, it seemed, might give us a better idea of what to expect. And it looks like LiLo and Lifetime have finally found their Dick, all the way from the steamy climes of Bon Temps, Louisiana. According to E! News , New Zealand actor Grant Bowler — popularly known as Cooter from True Blood — has landed the role of Burton to Lohan’s Taylor. Producer Larry Thompson spoke with E! about casting Bowler: “We had seen him [Bowler] on tape and liked him but wanted to confirm the chemistry between the two. But this morning we had Lindsay and Grant come into a room at Lifetime and the chemistry exploded. It was just Fourth of July firecrackers going off in the room. We knew from the chemistry that Liz and Dick live again.” Because there’s no better way to sell a made-for-TV movie starring a troubled starlet and a TV actor than with salacious details, Thompson continued. “Chemistry means movie magic for sex. This movie will definitely have as much sex as Lifetime will allow.” But wait! Tell us about the chemistry read, Larry! “They read three separate scenes from the movie. Their chairs were initially a bit apart but each scene they brought chairs closer. Arms brushed together. The scene didn’t require kissing.” Now I feel gross. Maybe some curtains aren’t meant to be peeled back. But hey, more power to the new Liz & Dick. Filming is set to begin June 4. Meanwhile, previously in the Liz & Dick casting saga: [via E! News ]
Lindsay Lohan has just signed on to play Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie, much to the chagrin of Rosie O’Donnell . The actress is thrilled about the opportunity. In fact, she’s felt a kinship with the late Hollywood legend before. In 2006, at age 19, Lindsay posed as Taylor, who passed away in 2011, for Interview magazine in photos taken by Karl Lagerfeld – including a cover shot. Take a look at the striking resemblance below … The shots are powerful, with Lohan managing to capture much of Taylor’s vulnerability and beauty, traits that helped win her the role in the Lifetime film. Of course, this was before Lindsay Lohan’s plastic surgery and/or hard-partying ways altered her appearance drastically. But that’s neither here nor there. It has not been revealed who will star opposite Lohan as Richard Burton in Liz & Dick , but the 25-year-old actress is heavily insured and raring to go.
