Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Inferno’ Role: Adult-Film Stars Weigh In

‘Lindsay will really be able to tap into Linda Lovelace because they might have a lot of things in common,’ Jesse Jane tells MTV News. By Brian Jacks Lindsay Lohan and Linda Lovelace Photo: Getty Images/ Hulton Archive While many movie studios have distanced themselves from Lindsay Lohan, the creative minds behind one project were eagerly working with her. Lohan was set to star in “Inferno,” a film chronicling the life of ’70s porn icon Linda Lovelace, and news that she’s heading to jail has already resulted in the biopic’s director bashing the actress’ 90-day sentence . But what does the billion-dollar porn industry think about Lohan’s embrace of one of their own? Before her sentencing, MTV News spoke to various figures in the adult-entertainment world to get an insider’s view on Lohan’s latest Hollywood exploits. Like Lohan, Lovelace courted controversy and faced an unraveling career, volatile breakups and drug convictions. And according to “Pirates” superstar Jesse Jane, that’s precisely why the troubled actress is right for the role. “The thing is, no one big in Hollywood would play [Lovelace] because it has to do with porn. That’s a taboo thing for actresses,” Jane said. “Lindsay, I think, will really be able to tap into Linda Lovelace because they might have a lot of things in common.” Both Jane and fellow star Chanel Preston agree that the movie will give Lohan the career bump she needs. “If she is able to play Linda well,” Preston said, “then I think people will really respect that she possibly used her own troubles to accurately portray an American icon.” Hollywood has rarely flirted with its steamier colleagues, with the Oscar-nominated “The People vs. Larry Flint” being the chief exception. “Inferno” producers are hoping they can tap into the same vein by telling the tortured tale of Linda Lovelace, whose breakout movie “Deep Throat” catapulted adult films into the mainstream consciousness. Both Jane and Preston agree that the story is ripe for gripping storytelling. ” ‘Deep Throat’ was such a huge movie and probably still the most talked-about [adult film] of all time, and starring in that really made her career,” Jane said of Lovelace. “I love that she was very open about liking porn and didn’t care about what people thought about it or her. That says a lot about her character, and I respect that.” Whether “Inferno” can move forward with Lohan remains in question, but she can count on the support of the adult-film community that she hopes to portray. “Maybe this will give Lindsay an opportunity to play a role that she relates to and hopefully that will, in turn, make for a great movie,” Preston said. Lil Wayne Is ‘Much Funnier’ After Detoxing In Jail, Fat Joe Says

Joe says he spent four hours visiting Wayne at Rikers, ‘just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor.’ By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Shaheem Reid Fat Joe Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne has been in prison for approximately four months now, after being sentenced by a Manhattan judge to one year behind bars for attempted gun possession. But his actual prison term is 10 months, not a calendar year, and if he stays out of trouble (and has no more infractions for possessing an iPod), the Cash Money recording artist could be released from jail as early as November. In the meantime, Wayne has kept busy, blogging on his fan appreciate website, recording a verse for Drake’s “Light Up” and accepting visitors like Diddy . Fat Joe recently ventured to see Wayne in Rikers Island. The Bronx-bred rapper described his frequent collaborator as being in “great spirits” and said he’s operating well while detoxing from the codeine-laced drinks he so often raps about. “Lil Wayne, it’s such a shame,” Joe told MTV News. “He’s in great spirits. I love Lil Wayne; that’s like my little brother. He’s just the coolest dude on Earth. I tell you one thing, him not being high made me realize how much funnier he is. This guy has jokes. We were up in there for four hours, just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor. “He’s a beautiful dude,” Joe continued. “He did what he did. He had a gun on him, but people don’t really know how much of a great father that he is, great of a person he is, a friend, a loyal dude. He’s charismatic. It’s just sad to see him over there like that, but I’m pretty sure he learned his lesson, and he’s gonna be focused.” Once Wayne is released from jail in New York, the rapper will begin serving three years of probation, stemming from a 2008 arrest in Arizona , when authorities discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm aboard the rapper’s tour bus. Do you think Lil Wayne’s music will be different when he’s released from jail? Talk about it in the comments. Drake Recalls Visiting Lil Wayne In Prison

‘There’s a whole world moving out there that he hasn’t seen for so long,’ Drizzy tells MTV News. By Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Sway Calloway Drake Photo: MTV News When Drake visited Lil Wayne last week in Rikers Island, it was an experience like no other. “It was just not the country club,” Drake told MTV News on Tuesday, the day his debut album, Thank Me Later, was released. “It wasn’t his Miami condo. It wasn’t Atlanta. It wasn’t Tree Sound Studios, all the places I’m used to seeing him. It wasn’t Club Liv in Miami. It wasn’t any of them.” Drake has tried to wrap his head around Wayne’s situation in prison. It’s been difficult, but he did grasp some jewels from their visit. “He kept looking to the window,” Drizzy described. “He’d look up at the window almost like he’s looking right through it. It’s frosted, so you can’t see out. I was like, ‘Why does he keep staring through the window? There’s nothing out there.’ To him, there’s a whole world moving out there that he hasn’t seen for so long. He was just like, he told me something I never thought I’d hear him say, which was, ‘You’re the ultimate artist. You’re better than me. You don’t have the tattoos, you don’t cause any trouble. People like you.’ He was like, basically, ‘Look at me and look at you.’ “He was like, ‘Man, listen. You know what I think you’re about to do? You’re about to do 2 million,’ ” Drake recalled, echoing Wayne’s sentiments from last week’s “Nino Brown Story, Pt. 3″ preview . ” ‘You’re about to do 2 million the first week.’ ” Drake thought back to a conversation they previously had, when the Toronto native wanted to get a tattoo; Weezy advised against it. ” ‘Whatever, man, whatever you do, do not get no tattoos never in your life,’ ” Drake recalled Wayne telling him. ” ‘They gonna think you got it because you came around me.’ He said the same thing to me [during the Rikers visit]: ‘Don’t change yourself, please. You got it. I’ve never met a young dude that has it figured out, but you got it. Don’t mess it up. Just be you. Sing! Rap! Be you. Don’t stop smiling.’ That’s what he said.” What do you think about Drake and Wayne’s relationship? Let us know in the comments below! Diddy Paid A Quiet Visit To See Lil Wayne In Prison

‘No one knew [he was here] until it was time for him to leave,’ our Rikers Island source says. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway and Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne has been behind bars for almost two months now, and he’s managed to make headlines as if he never went away. The rapper made waves earlier this week for having headphones, a charger and a watch that doubles as an MP3 player in his jail cell, according to a source at Rikers Island who spoke to MTV News. And last week, Diddy visited the Cash Money Records superstar in jail. But according to the same Rikers source, the Bad Boy mogul made more noise in the papers than at the prison facility. “No one knew [he was here] until it was time for him to leave,” the source told MTV News. “You know, also, a lot of the time people don’t want to seem like they’re stargazers, the officers.” Diddy has yet to comment about his Lil Wayne visit. The rapper has picked up a job while at the Eric M. Taylor correctional facility, but with his recent infraction, he may be stripped of his duties as suicide-prevention aide. Prior to his violation, the Rikers Island source said Lil Wayne has blended in with the rest of the prison population. “It’s just day-to-day business, nothing different than anything else,” the source said of the New Orleans MC’s activities. “You got to understand, this is a different type of atmosphere. It’s not like the prisons where you go upstate, to Sing Sing or places like that. This is a medium-security [population], not maximum security.” Are you awaiting Lil Wayne’s release? Lil Wayne Not Involved In Weekend Brawl, Rikers Island Source Says

Source says Wayne is doing ‘well’ in jail. By Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News From all indications, Lil Wayne is doing fine in prison. He began his sentence on March 8 and arrived at Rikers Island later that day, and last week, his friend and associate Mack Maine posted a message on Twitter saying: “Jus left Rikers Island … Spoke wit Wayne for 2hrs … He’s good. Told me to tell y’all wadup … Special website komin soon … #thank God … LUV.” On Monday (March 29), a source inside Rikers Island who asked that his name not be made public gave MTV News some observations about how Wayne is holding up. “He’s doing well. He’s adapting to the situation,” the source said, adding that Wayne was not involved in a brawl that took place at the facility over the weekend in which 13 officers and three inmates were injured, according to New York’s Daily News . The incident reportedly occurred after inmates refused to be locked in for the night, and did not take place in the area of the facility where Wayne is being held. The source also scotched a rumor that Wayne got into a confrontation with another inmate just days after his sentencing. “That’s a rumor I heard, but nothing substantiated,” the source said, adding that Wayne is usually in protective custody and, for the most part, has been getting a positive reaction from inmates. However, the source said that some inmates seem not to be aware of his situation. “While he’s walking the hallways, he’s told not to communicate with these guys,” the source explained. “So they’re a bit disgruntled because he’s not hollering back.” Wayne was sentenced to a year in prison on gun-possession charges and could be released after serving eight months , assuming good behavior. Who Can Visit Lil Wayne In Jail, And When?

Inmates at Rikers Island can refuse visitors — fans take note! By Jayson Rodriguez New York’s Rikers Island Prison Photo: MTV News Once Lil Wayne has turned himself in to begin his one-year prison sentence in New York, his label, the Miami-based Cash Money outfit, is expected to relocate its operations to the Big Apple both to be closer to its franchise artist and to show him support. That support, one assumes, will include plenty of visits to Wayne on Rikers Island, where the rapper will reside at the Eric M. Taylor Center, according to a corrections officer who spoke with MTV News. According to the New York City Department of Correction Web site , the rapper is afforded a number of visitation options during his incarceration. Each week, inmates are permitted two visits, which can last up to an hour and occur any day of the week except Monday and Tuesday, when the facility is closed to all visits. On those days when visitors are welcomed, hours for visits range from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Within those options lie scheduling blocks dictated by a sliding-scale that is determined by the first letter of a prisoner’s last name. The schedule is available by accessing the DOC Web site. For instance, next week (the week of March 14) inmates whose last names begin with the letters A-L, which would include Lil Wayne (real name: Dwayne Carter), are permitted visitors on Sunday and Wednesday only (on Friday each week all prisoners are permitted visitors). The following week (beginning March 21), inmates whose last names begin with the letters A-L have just Thursday allocated for visitors. During the following week (beginning March 28), Lil Wayne will have Sunday and Wednesday available for visitors. People who wish to visit inmates on Rikers Island don’t have to register ahead of time to schedule trips to the prison. The DOC advises visitors to take public transportation to the compound, although a small amount of parking spaces are available. And while anyone can visit, the inmate must approve the visitation, and the facility’s security personnel have the authority to reject any potential visitor (fans take note). Once visitors arrive at the facility, they are directed to the Central Visit Control Building, where they must complete a registration form and pass through a number of security clearances. Visitors must go through a metal detector and all of their items will be searched. In addition, visitors may also be selected for an ION Scan Test, which checks for the presence of narcotics or explosives. Canine searches may also be performed as well. Once the security posts are cleared, visitors then wait to be transported by shuttle to the specific prison (there are nine different jail houses on Rikers Island) that houses the inmate they came to see. Three visitors at a time are permitted to visit inmates; visits by an attorney, counselor, religious adviser or member of the media do not count toward the imprisoned person’s visits per week. Conjugal visits are not permitted unless the inmate is married to the visitor. During visits, inmates and family or friends can chat, and items can be given to incarcerated individuals; clothes are primarily permissible items. For Wayne, his visits may be the the only time he gets to interact with individuals beyond the guards assigned to protect his safety. A corrections officer, who didn’t wish to be identified because of the classified information he shared, told MTV News late last month that the rapper will be placed in a unit with inmates that meet a certain classification. “He’ll be housed with inmates who are classified in his category, and he’ll be able to be a regular inmate,” the guard said. “He’ll be able to watch television, go into the day room and congregate with people of his classification.”It’s a high-class area where he will be segregated from [the general] population,” the guard added.
