Plus, Cee Lo needs that gwap to pay his lawyer fees. According to Rolling Out reports: This week “The Voice” wrapped up season five by crowning their winner, Tessanne Chin. Just days after crowning their victor, “The Voice” announced that they will be bringing back Usher and Shakira, who will join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton starting Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, when “The Voice” returns to NBC. When Shakira announced that she was leaving after her short stay during season five, she attributed it to her busy schedule … “It was a hard decision for me to make, because I’m really fond of the coaches, the people in production and everybody around me,” she told E! News. ” I really enjoyed The Voice, but I also have a musical career and I’m a mother now and my poor baby’s so tired flying such long distances. He already has more miles than any pilot. So I think I have to give him a little break, and we’ll see what happens in the future.” There has been no word from either Green or Aguilera’s camp on how they are taking their replacement … again. “The Voice” returns early 2014, with a two-night premiere on Monday, Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 25 on NBC. The Top 12 finalists have been announced on The Voice. Monday, Team Usher and Team Adam squared off. Tuesday, it was Team Blake and Team Shakira. Four members per team, vying for three spots. Who earned them after America selected two from each squad, and the coaches each selected one more to advance to the Top 12 show next Monday? Let’s find out! Right off the bat, Carson Daly announced there were inconsistencies in the voting, and that votes via text and online were not included in the voting results. However, “removing votes did not affect the outcome.” Mmmkay. The Voice results for the Top 16 performers were as follows: Team Blake : Holly Tucker and Danielle Bradbery were the top two vote-getters. And for the sake of switching things up, Blake saved the Swon Brothers. Team Shakira : Sasha Allen and Kris Thomas advanced, and “based on what I can contribute to this person,” Shakira chose to save Garrett Gardner. Team Usher : Michelle Chamuel and Vedo, were voted through by America. The coach then took Josiah Hawley along with him to the next round. Team Adam : Judith Hill and Amber Carrington got the most votes. Sarah Simmons got the nod in what was clearly a very tough call for her coach. The Battle Rounds are complete, as The Voice’s coaches finalized their teams for the knockout rounds on Tuesday with some terrific final duets. The coaches how have eight singers apiece headed into next week’s Knockout Round. Kicking things off last night? Cathia and Mary Miranda … Cathia vs. Mary Miranda – The Voice Battle Round In a bold move, Shakira pitted Bronx native Cathia, an aspiring Latina pop star, against Cuban-born Mary using her own song, “Antes Des Las Seis.” Usher, the only coach who had an available steal, used it to nab Cathia after Mary emerged triumphant. Elsewhere on the final night of Battles … Duncan Kamakana vs. Sarah Simmons – The Voice Battle Round Adam Levine paired Sarah Simmons with Duncan Kamakana on Lady Antebellum’s “Wanted You More,” with Lady A’s own Hillary Scott as assistant coach. Sarah ended up winning the battle and widespread praise. Brandon Roush vs. Shawna P. – The Voice Battle Round The evening also pitted the oldest competitor, Shawna P., 45, against one of the youngest, Brandon Roush, 19. They sang “Piece of My Heart.” This time, experience won out. Shakira picked Shawna. Justin vs. Morgan Twins, Amy vs. Agina & Michelle vs. Chelsea – The Voice Finally, Adam chose Amy Whitcomb over Agina Alvarez; Blake chose Justin Rivers over the Morgan Twins; and Usher picked Michelle Chamuel over Chelsea M. Rihanna appeared to be speaking from the heart – and about her breakup with Chris Brown – during her concert last night at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The subject of heartbreak certainly seemed to be on her mind, the same day as rumors of her split with Chris began to circulate across the Interwebs. “How many of you are in love? How many of you hate love? How many of you don’t f–king understand it? I’m in that group,” Rihanna said on stage. She then launched into “What Now,” which features the lyrics: “I’ve been ignoring this big lump in my throat / I shouldn’t be crying, tears were for the weaker days / I’m stronger, now what, so I say / But something’s missing.” Deep, deep stuff right there people. Thought-provoking. Despite her apparent in-concert soul-searching, Rihanna was still all smiles during the show, even encouraging the crowd to get rowdier at times. “Los Angeles, what the f––k?,” she said at one point. “I live here now, so I know y’all can get ratchet.” And they did, leading to an epic night for Rihanna , who recently spoke of her happiness at having a fresh start with Brown … so much for that evidently. In any case, rumors that he was cheating with Keisha Kimball appear to be false, and it doesn’t look like she was two-timing him either. It just fizzled. For the time being. How long before they reconcile, again?
