Simon Monjack, who died Sunday in the Hollywood home he once shared with wife Brittany Murphy, had a heart condition and was due to have bypass surgery. This according a rep for Murphy’s mother, who also lost Brittany in December. “I can tell you he was excited about what the future held in terms of the legacy of Brittany Murphy,” publicist Roger Neal told reporters. “He looked fine to me.” Neal said he last saw Simon Monjack on Saturday, and used the opportunity to set the record straight: “As far as we know he passed away of natural causes.” Monjack was 40, not 39 as was previously reported, he said. Also, there is no indication that he died of an accidental drug overdose, as some reports suggest. “He did have a heart condition [and] due for bypass heart surgery. What’s been on TMZ I don’t believe is correct at all; anything that they have intimated is not correct,” Neal said. “He was a man full of life and a man excited about the future .” R.I.P. Brittany and Simon married in 2007 . The accidental overdose theory was floated by the celebrity gossip site yesterday, just hours after Sharon Murphy discovered him unconscious in his bedroom. Sadly and eerily, Sharon was the one who found her own daughter’s lifeless body five months ago and made the dreaded 911 call to the paramedics afterward. “It is a very sad day for Ms. Murphy,” Neal said. “In less than six months she suffered a double loss. We are asking that the media be as respectful as possible.” “She’s devastated. She’s very strong. I don’t know how you handle something like that. She is resting. Sharon loved Simon as a son. They were a close family.” The rep said Simon Monjack dreamed of carrying on his wife’s legacy. “Brittany’s dream, as was Simon’s, was to help children who want to learn to do ballet, sing, etcetera, who couldn’t afford it. [He] would raise money for it.”

How did Brittany Murphy’s husband suddenly die just months after the actress herself succumbed to cardiac arrest at her Los Angeles home at age 32? Law enforcement sources say there are signs that an accidental overdose of prescription drugs may have left Simon Monjack dead at home last night. There is no official word yet, but a well-placed source says, “There were a number of pill bottles on the nightstand in the bedroom; some were empty.” This is clearly and eerily similar to the death of Monjack’s wife, Brittany Murphy , in December, after which an array of prescription drugs were found. On the nightstand of the same bedroom where Monjack died, no less. Many of the drugs on Simon Monjack’s nightstand were the same as the ones found after Brittany died, too. But the actress’ death was ruled natural. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack . One law enforcement source says that the two causes of death that seem most plausible right now are both “natural” and “accidental drug overdose.” Monjack suffered a heart attack during a November incident when he had a medical emergency aboard an airplane and paramedics met him at LAX. Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, discovered Monjack’s body. Sharon was also the one who found her daughter, Brittany, unconscious in December. Those close to Monjack never recovered from the death of his wife. Sources say he was often unshaven and had gained considerable weight since. He repeatedly and very publicly decried reports that hinted his widow died of a drug overdose and described living every day without her as painful. The 39-year-old made a fortune trading currency but his wealth brought him little comfort. A source who knew Simon Monjack well told Radar Online: “In past months he didn’t feel well. He never told me exactly why but he was having physical problems as well as being emotionally devastated.

American actress and singer Brittany Murphy died at age 32 last December 2009 due to pneumonia, an iron deficiency and multiple drug intoxication but just five months after her husband Simon Monjack, English writer-director-producer, was found dead last Sunday night in their home in Hollywood. Sharon Murphy called 911 when she discovered Monjack around 9:30 being unresponsive. Monjack was then pronounced dead. According to Sgt. Louie Lozano, Monjack died of natural causes. “We concluded there no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved,” said Sgt. Alex Ortiz, another police spokesman. Linda Monjack, mother of Simon, told PEOPLE that her son was “unwell, and the doctors are carrying out tests. On whether he has a heart problem it is not really for me to say, you must ask him, but yes, there have been health problems in the past.
