According to NY Daily News: Authorities believe the Fort Hood gunman was involved in a verbal beef with another soldier before he opened fire with a .45-caliber pistol, killing three and wounding 16. There is a “strong possibility” that mentally unstable Army soldier Ivan Lopez argued with one or more soldiers prior to the Wednesday afternoon bloodshed, Lt. Gen. Mark Milley said at a Thursday news conference. Lopez ended the rampage by taking his own life after a military police officer squeezed off a shot at him, according to Milley. A Lopez pal in their native Puerto Rico told the newspaper El Nuevo Dia that the shooter was feuding with another soldier on the Texas military outpost. SMH. “It seems he had an argument with someone back at base,” the friend told the newspaper. “Seems that he had been robbed or something.” Lopez reportedly bought his weapon on March 1 at the Guns Galore store in Killeen, Texas According to El Nuevo Dio, Lopez was devastated by his mother’s death last year and furious at the Army for its initial refusal to let him attend her funeral. “I don’t have the details on that right now,” Milley said at the news conference. But he said authorities had “very strong evidence” of Lopez’s increasingly unstable mental condition in the weeks leading up to the triple homicide. The alleged shooter in today’s tragic Connecticut school shooting was identified by NBC News as Ryan Lanza, 24, who reportedly also killed his father in Hoboken, N.J. However, reports now conflict as to whether this is truly the case; several sources believe his brother, 20-year-old Adam Lanza , was actually the shooter. WNBC says Lanza then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., an hour east of N.Y. City, where his mother was the kindergarten teacher. There, Lanza was said to have been responsible for the Connecticut school shooting that claimed 26 lives – 18 of them children – before he killed himself. The gunman opened fire after wanting through the front office, then walked to his mother’s classroom and opened fire, killing her and other students. Lt. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police would not confirm the shooter’s identity, only saying that “the shooter is deceased inside the building.” Vance said the incident began after a 911 call from the school to Newtown Police at 9:41 a.m. The police immediately called State police and other local law enforcement for mutual aid. Vance said that when his officers arrived at the school, they made “immediate entry.” Vance would not give specific numbers on how many children and how many staff are dead and walked away when asked if that was the only shooter. There are reports that there is a person in custody but that has not been confirmed; Vance said there would be another press conference shortly. CNN first identified the killer as Ryan Lanza, but the New York Post claims Adam Lanza was responsible and that Ryan is being questioned by police, but not a suspect. Story developing …

Aurora Dark Knight Shooter James Holmes Tries To Commit Suicide In Jail According to TMZ reports : James Holmes — the shooter in the Aurora movie theater massacre — was hospitalized after several “half-hearted” suicide attempts … this according to law enforcement. According to cops, Holmes ran headfirst into a jail cell wall on Tuesday … and while he sustained injuries … they were not life-threatening. Holmes also reportedly stood on the bed in his cell and fell backwards … in an apparent attempt to crack his skull open. He failed. Holmes — who killed 12 people and injured 58 more during his July 20 shooting rampage — has since been released from the hospital. Awwww, jail life is pretty tough huh azzhole? Amidst the sadness and shock over the fatal Aurora, Colorado shooting at a Dark Knight Rises screening early Friday morning, many celebrities have taken to Twitter to express their sympathy for the victims and their families. Many have also used this as an opportunity to push for stricter gun laws, an area in which President Barack Obama has been considered a total failure by The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.
