Eminem And Slaughterhouse Toast The Good Life In ‘My Life’ Video

Slaughterhouse link with Cee Lo and Em for their new video, and boy is it rich. By Rob Markman Eminem in Slaughterhouse’s video “My Life” Photo: Don’t you just hate when rappers flaunt their riches in the face of the less fortunate? Well that’s just what Eminem and Slaughterhouse do in the quartet’s new “My Life” video , except they make it all look really cool. The Syndrome-directed video , which dropped Wednesday (June 20), starts off with a rather lengthy skit featuring the super-rich Eminem thumbing his nose at the poor and lowly by skeet-shooting his platinum plaques, showing off his fleet of 300 Chrysler 300s and playing whack-a-mole with real-life baby seals. It’s all part of a Robin Leach-inspired opening skit called “Rappers Are Richer Than You,” and in the end, Slim Shady bathes in the tears of struggling MCs and gets fed grapes by his pet tyrannosaurus rex. It all sounds pretty farfetched, but if quality rap bars directly translated into dollars, then Royce Da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Crooked I would be the wealthiest MCs in the game. In the video, the fearsome foursome, along with Cee Lo Green on the hook, detail their rise from starving artists to being one of hip-hop’s most celebrated acts. Long Beach, California, lyrical assassin Crooked I sets things off, turning his broken-down lemon into a convertible Porsche thanks to some choice visual effects. Crook takes a joy ride as he ponders, “How does it feel to count dollar bills that I found off skills?” in the middle of his verse. Ortiz sits on a housing-project bench reflecting on his early days as a drug dealer getting chased by the police. He goes from scaling a barbwire fence to a beach where he sips drinks with tiny umbrellas in the company of two vixens. Budden depicts a similar come-up, starting off taking mug shots and finishing his verse posing for the paparazzi. Still, Joey proves that his recent wins haven’t just brought him riches; they’ve also helped bring him closer to his estranged son Trey, whom he has rapped about for so many years. “What a success story, the film plays, it gets less gory/ My son didn’t know who his pops was for years, now it’s less Maury.” Royce caps things off, rapping about putting on for his city and earning enough so his dad could retire from his job as a U.S. postal worker. The fact is, fans have never seen Slaughterhouse smile so much, but there is no hate here: After all they’ve been through, Joey, Joell, Royce and Crook deserve a taste of the good life. Kenya Bell Talks About Her Fight With Evelyn, Husband’s Plastic Surgery Claims “Basketball Wives” newbie Kenya Bell must like having bottles tossed at her head, cuz she’s still running her yap… This season’s biggest target talked to Juicy Magazine about how things went down on the show and her soon to be ex-hubby’s claims she spent over 100 racks on getting knifed up. Check out what she had to say about the fight below: Juicy: What was going through your mind when EVELYN threw that bottle at you during dinner? KB: I’ve been professionally trained to fight thanks to my Dad. I have no fear of any of them and all of their bullying, negativity, and pure haterism. It’s sad that as women, they aren’t supporting my efforts to be independent as a woman and a mother, especially after I spent years helping my husband make it to the NBA and he’s chosen to ruin his life. [The cast] can talk all they want, as long as neither of them put their hands on me, they have nothing to fear. Pretty sure nobody is scurrred of you anyway Kenya! Hit the flip for her answer about getting knifed up.

This cow was like “eff whatcha heard, I’m outta this beyyyoootttchhhhh!!!!” A cow that escaped from a slaughterhouse in a New Jersey city will be spared. The black-and-white bovine was running through the streets of Paterson sometime after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Animal control officer John De Cando tells The Record newspaper (http://bit.ly/IqWC6F ) it was like “Dodge City” with police cars trying to corral the 750-pound animal. But the cow managed to break loose. De Cando tranquilized the cow after it became trapped between a fire hydrant and a truck. De Cando says the slaughterhouse owner has promised to take the animal to a farm. No one was injured. Good for the cow! Source More On Bossip! Ryan Tedder Finds His ‘Calling’ With Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso

Team-ups with Tommy Trash and Steve Angello and solo originals will follow Miami Music Week favorite ‘Calling (Lose My Mind).’ By Akshay Bhansali Ryan Tedder Photo: Getty Images “Calling (Lose My Mind)” — the vocal version of “Calling” by rising star Alesso and Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso — was released weeks before Miami Music Week and has become one of the most popular anthems from the annual EDM get-together in Florida. It serves as a prelude to a collection of new material fans can expect soon courtesy of the Swedish gents. What makes “Calling (Lose My Mind)” extra special is the addition of an A-list vocal by songwriter to the stars and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder . Tedder wrote and sent over a hook intended for another artist to sing, but what Seb and Alesso heard was too good to replace. Ingrosso leaned on his friends in the business to arrange some one-on-one Tedder time. “I called a friend of mine who works for Interscope, Dave Rene,” Sebastian told MTV News. “He is Mr. Magic when it comes to those kinds of things. I’m like, ‘It’s going to be a long shot. Do you think that Ryan Tedder could do it?’ We sent the track. [Ryan] was like, ‘OK. I have 45 minutes in between the American Music Awards.’ We ran to the studio, because I live around the corner. Boom. Recorded. Boom. Done.” Having arguably the most sought-after songwriter in the business — Tedder has worked with Beyonc

Yelawolf Trying To ‘Get Right’ After Spleen Injury

‘He just had to cancel a couple of shows just so he could get right,’ Royce da 5’9″ tells MTV News in Austin, Texas before SXSW Shady showcase. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Nadeska Alexis Yelawolf Photo: Joey Foley/ Getty Images There’s a Shady party scheduled to go down at SXSW on Friday night (March 16), but sadly Yelawolf will not be performing with his labelmates 50 Cent and Slaughterhouse . The Gadsden, Alabama, MC was hospitalized March 2 with an injury to his spleen after a stage-diving accident in Madison, Wisconsin. “I have [spoken] to him, I spoke to him, I called him and checked on him. I think he stage-dove or something like that,” Royce da 5’9″ told MTV News of Yela’s status when we caught up with the MC in Austin, Texas. “I don’t know if people know this because Yelawolf is such a mild-mannered, laid-back kinda guy, but he gets real rowdy onstage and he doesn’t mind putting his physical health in danger as well as the fans’, which makes for a greater show.” No doubt, Yela has earned a reputation as an energetic performer, mixing both rap and punk-rock elements into his stage show. Unfortunately, after the Wisconsin show, doctors recommended he cancel a number of dates, including a concert at Saint Andrew’s Hall in label boss Eminem’s native Detroit and, of course, tonight’s SXSW showcase. Not that the Shady 2.0 show will be without highlights. 50 Cent is set to perform his 2003 classic debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, in its entirety and Slaughterhouse will take the stage in what is expected to be a lyrical free-for-all. Big K.R.I.T., Schoolboy Q, Action Bronson and XXL freshman Don Trip are also scheduled to hit the stage. As far as Catfish Billy, Royce expects his buddy to make a full recovery. “He’s well, he’s doing well,” he said, “He just had to cancel a couple of shows just so he could get right.” SXSW is under way in Austin, Texas, and MTV News has you covered with all of the action. Eminem King Of BET Ciphers, Slaughterhouse Say

‘We enjoy what everybody else is doin’, but our focus is us, and in our minds, we’re the best rap group,’ Joe Budden tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Joe Budden, Crooked I, and Royce da 5’9″ of Slaughterhouse Photo: MTV News At its core, hip-hop is a competitive sport. Hit records are nice, but the greatest MCs are often defined by their wordplay. Judging from fan reaction across Twitter, the highlight of Tuesday’s 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards were the nine different rhyme cipher segments , which showcased a total of 41 MCs all vying for rap supremacy. Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, B.o.B, Machine Gun Kelly, Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group and Eminem and his Shady 2.0 crew all contributed lethal bars to the program. According to Slaughterhouse member Joe Budden, it was Marshall who reigned supreme in his round of rhyming. “We wasn’t chumped, though,” Budden told MTV News on the show’s black carpet. Yelawolf set it off with a tongue-twisting verse, while DJ Premier spun the instrumental from the East Flatbush Project’s 1996 classic “Tried by 12.” Joey threw the gauntlet next, with lines referencing some of rap’s elite, including Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne. “I’m grown, I’m not watching the throne, I’m sabotaging it,” he spit before dropping, “Enough raps from you scrub cats about cocking the snub back/ Wayne couldn’t teach me how to love that.” When asked to contemplate Shady’s place among other rap crews, Crooked I pounded his chest and nominated Slaughterhouse for the highest honor. “Right now, we’re the best f—in’ rap group, straight up,” he said. “Best rap group in the universe,” Budden chimed in. “We thinking about us and what we’re doin’. We enjoy what everybody else is doin’, but our focus is us, and in our minds, we’re the best rap group.” After last night’s performance, Slaughterhouse certainly made a case. With his verse, Royce Da 5’9″ expressed his appreciation for pop star Rihanna, and after the cipher aired, “Hi Rihanna” became a trending topic on Twitter. Still, the segment’s main draw was Eminem, who stacked rhyme triplets atop each other in vivid and witty ways. Taking poetic license, Em described his rollout plans for both Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf’s upcoming album releases, spitting: “You’re about to see peace destroyed, it’ll never be restored/ When I unleash these beastly hoards on your CD stores/ Wanna stop it? You will need a priest, at least three swords/ A license to ill from the Beastie Boys, three Ouija Boards and a squeegee/ And please be warned, don’t ask what the squeegees for/ Or the holy water, acid raps that’ll eat these floors.” And it all sounds delightful. Freddie Gibbs To Talk Straight, ‘No Filla’ On ‘RapFix Live’!

Gary, Indiana’s own Gangsta Gibbs will swing through on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Rob Markman Freddie Gibbs Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images The real is back! On Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, “RapFix Live” returns with Freddie Gibbs , who will hit the couch to discuss everything from coming up in Gary, Indiana, to signing with Young Jeezy’s CTE label to his upcoming project Cold Day in Hell. While rap has diversified its cast of characters to include MCs from all walks of life, Gibbs has remained unapologetically gangster . Originally signed by Interscope in 2005, Gangsta Gibbs struggled to get the label to see his vision and was eventually released from his deal in October 2007. But in 2009, Freddie proved that there was room for his brand of music. With his The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs and midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik, Gibbs made fans take notice. His grind paid off, and in 2010, Freddie earned himself a spot on XXL magazine’s 2010 Freshmen cover. He went on to drop the independent release Str8 Killa No Filla on Decon Records. In April, the Midwest MC made his biggest move yet when he inked with Young Jeezy’s CTE (Corporate Thugz Entertainment). Since the signing, the pair have released quite a few songs, including their hustle ode “Run DMC,” “Do It for You” and “Rough,” a song off of the Snowman’s latest mixtape, The Real Is Back 2. “RapFix Live” will also bring you backstage at the Rock the Bells tour stop in New York City this past weekend. On Saturday, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Slaughterhouse and Mobb Deep all performed, and “RFL” has all the exclusives for you as well as our regular Get in the Game and Weekend Rotation segments. Catch Freddie Gibbs on “RapFix Live” Wednesday, September 7, at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com! Related Artists Freddie Gibbs
