Kony 2012 Campaign Catches Eyes Of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga

Campaign aims to bring African militia leader Joseph Kony to justice for war crimes and for enlisting children as soldiers. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News A campaign to stop the nearly 30-year, brutal rule of African militia leader Joseph Kony became a viral sensation this week. “Kony 2012,” started by the group Invisible Children, aims to make Kony’s face so famous that authorities will finally be able to arrest him and try him for his crimes. A 30-minute documentary released on Monday is one of the keys to the campaign, and as of Thursday it had gotten more than 26 million views. The video details the atrocities carried out by Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army. The campaign appears to be working, as at one point on Wednesday, Invisible Children and #stopkony were trending higher on Twitter than Peyton Manning or the new iPad. Since 1987, human rights officials say Kony has forcefully abducted more than 60,000 children to be soldiers in his army and reportedly raped, mutilated and killed civilians in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan and displaced more than 2 million people. The leader is wanted for committing atrocities by the International Criminal Court and is being hunted down by 100 U.S. Special Forces advisers and local troops in four Central African nations, according to the Associated Press. Kony 2012 is an effort to capture Kony and disarm the LRA before a reported window of opportunity closes. One way it plans to do that is by encouraging users to directly message a variety of stars to make use of their Twitter ubiquity to get the word out. Among those listed on the site are: Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Jay-Z, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres, along with a number of major policymakers. When users click on the celebs’ photos, a tweet pops up that reads: Help us end #LRA violence. Visit kony2012.com to find out why and how. @timtebow Join us for #KONY2012. Iran Declares State Of War

In a rare move, Iran has declared a state of war on its northwestern border, DEBKAfile's military and Iranian sources report. Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps men and equipment units are being massed in the Caspian Sea region against what Tehran claims are US and Israeli forces concentrated on army and air bases in Azerbaijan ready to strike Iran's nuclear facilities. The announcement came on Tuesday, June 22 from Brig.-Gen Mehdi Moini of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), commander of the forces tasked with “repelling” this American-Israeli offensive. He said: “The mobilization is due to the presence of American and Israeli forces on the western border,” adding, “Reinforcements are being dispatched to West Azerbaijan Province because some western countries are fueling ethnic conflicts to destabilize the situation in the region.” In the past, Iranian officials have spoken of US and Israel attacks in general terms. DEBKAfile's Iranian sources note that this is the first time that a specific location was mentioned and large reinforcements dispatched to give the threat substance. Other Iranian sources report that in the last few days, Israel has secretly transferred a large number of bomber jets to bases in Azerbaijan, via Georgia, and that American special forces are also concentrated in Azerbaijan in preparation for a strike. http://www.debka.com/article/8868/ added by: ibrake4rappers13

Bradley Cooper Says Zach Galifianakis Is The ‘Toughest Guy’ At ‘A-Team’ Premiere

MTV Movie Awards nominee says not even his ‘A-Team’ co-stars could go toe-to-toe with bearded ‘Hangover’ actor. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Lauren Davis Bradley Cooper Photo: Michael Caulfield/ Getty Images Bradley Cooper is kicking butt and taking names as Lt. Templeton “Face” Peck in “The A-Team.” But real life doesn’t always imitate art, as Cooper admitted he isn’t quite as tough as his onscreen Special Forces soldier. The real badass, he said, is his “The Hangover” co-star Zach Galifianakis . “No one’s tougher than Zach Galifianakis, who played Allen [in ‘The Hangover’], so I don’t even try to even compare anybody,” Cooper told MTV News at movie’s Los Angeles premiere on Thursday. That may come as a surprise to fans looking forward to seeing the big-screen adaptation of the classic 80s TV series. “The A-Team” cast lineup &#8212 including Liam Neeson, Sharlto Copley and former UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson &#8212 isn’t exactly made up of wimpy guys. Still, MTV Movie Awards nominee Cooper insisted bearded funnyman Galifianakis was the dude to be most afraid of. “They won’t make it,” Coopers said of his other co-stars. “He’s the toughest guy I ever met.” While Cooper was focused on Galifianakis, someone else was focused on Cooper. “The Hills” star Stephanie Pratt told MTV News she became a fan of the cute actor after seeing him in “The Hangover.” “The movie looks so funny,” Pratt said. “I’m gonna say, I think I’m gonna like [Cooper] better in the ‘A-Team.’ ” Does Zach Galifianakis seem like a tough guy to you? REVIEW: Smoldering Saldana Can’t Save Cartoonish Losers

In the first 10 minutes of The Losers, a helicopter loaded with cheerful Bolivian children crashes in the jungle after being struck by a U.S. missile obviously bent on destruction. Previously used as mules by some heartless baddie, these cute little tykes have just been rescued by the members of a U.S. special forces unit; the men look on, aghast, as the chopper that ought to be carrying the kids to safety turns into a big fireball in the sky. The soldiers approach the wreckage with downcast eyes and heavy hearts, and the camera moves in on a smoking pile of twisted metal to show us the shredded remains of one kid’s teddy bear therein. If you’ve started to wonder how low Hollywood entertainments can possibly stoop, The Losers brings the bar down a few notches: Nothing rapes the emotions like a smoldering teddy bear.

Arianna Huffington thinks Joe Biden Should Resign – Do you?

Joe Biden met with CENTCOM chief Gen. David Petraeus this morning to talk about Afghanistan — an issue that has pushed the vice president into the spotlight, landing him on the cover of the latest Newsweek. I have an idea for how he can capitalize on all the attention, and do what generations to come will always be grateful for: resign.
