Even A Zillion Spotify Streams Won’t Stop The IRS From Taking Nelly’s Tour Profits

The #SaveNelly campaign to stream Nelly out of debt is great and all, but the IRS is still going after his bottom dollar — and they’re going after his Ticketmaster proceeds to do it.

I would never think that this day would ever come! I can’t…

I would never think that this day would ever come! I can’t even believe writing this at all. My dream came true one day when pre-sale for Justin’s North America Believe tickets came out. I didn’t skip school or anything on the day of the pre-sale because I know my mom would never let me stay home just to buy the tickets, and I already knew that I wouldn’t get tickets at all. I couldn’t concentrate during school, all I did was think about the pre-sale. FINALLY school ended, so I ran home and opened my laptop as fast as I could. I finally got to the site and put in my BieberFever code, and when the Ticketmaster was loading looking for tickets I called my mom and asked if I can buy tickets in Toronto. She told me to call my dad and he said YES! Ticketmaster stopped loading and there it was, my tickets! I grabbed my mom’s credit card and filled out all the info. I couldn’t even believe that I got tickets 6 hours after the pre-sale started. Fast forward to the day of the concert – December 1, 2012. I woke up so early, got ready and was bugging my parents to go early to the stadium because Justin usually goes outside of the arena before the show. Once I got to the Rogers Centre it was already packed! The doors opens at 5 p.m. and I came just right in time. I was shaking and couldn’t handle my emotions. My little sister was with me and she was just fangirling. We finally got inside the stadium and the security was checking our ticket. Then someone behind me screamed, “Omg look it’s Jon who directed Never Say Never!” At first I didn’t believe her and then I looked to my left and there he was! Then the camera was right in front of me, they were filming for the Believe 3D movie! All I could do was scream at the camera. The security finally checked our tickets and I ran to Jon and asked him for a picture. Even though he was in a hurry he still took a picture with me! I couldn’t even believe it at this point that I met Jon! My sister and I went to our seats after buying some merchandise. We saw people screaming and running on the other side of the stage so obviously we followed and there we saw Pattie, Justin’s tour bus and half of him. We were getting filmed and then we started chanting, “WE LOVE JUSTIN!” and singing his songs out loud. My seat was not on the floor seats at all but it was very close and I just can’t believe that I would be seeing Justin live! The stadium went all dark all of the sudden and everyone stood up and screamed, the concert was just beyond amazing! It’s a day that I will never ever forget and will always be thankful for. Don’t ever doubt yourself like I did. If you really want your dream to happen, you will fight for it and never give up! Keep chasing that dream of yours and it will happen very soon! Never say never right? -Camille (@JBieber_Secute) Go here to see the original: I would never think that this day would ever come! I can’t…

My name’s Amargo, I’m 17 years old and have been…

My name’s Amargo, I’m 17 years old and have been supporting Justin since his first Youtube video. My Bieber experience was awesome and I literally have been waiting to meet him FOREVER! I can’t believe it finally happened, not just once but TWICE. My first experience was in Philly on November 4th. My mom surprised me telling me that she not only got tickets but she got me and my sister MEET AND GREETS. I was freaking out and I couldn’t even sit still all day. I don’t think I have ever been more excited for something in my life. I live in Jersey and traveled all the way to Philadelphia! When we got to the arena, we went in and got our VIP lanyards and I didn’t know what to expect. While I was waiting in line, we got closer and closer to the curtain. I got to say hi to Dan and Kenny but they were going somewhere so I didn’t get the chance to take a picture with either of them. I got closer and they opened up the curtain for me to go in. I literally froze and just stared at Justin because he is pure perfection. Everyone in the room was like, “Okay you can go..” so I walked up to him and gave him the BIGGEST hug ever! He said “Hiiii” and I said ” ITS SO NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU,” and he said, “STAY REAL!!!!” It wasn’t very long but we got a cute picture and we said bye. I wish it was longer but I finally got to say that I met my idol. I was in the front row and the concert was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I cannot believe how good the seats were – honestly I could touch the stage. It all seemed so surreal and it was awesome. I went to another concert at the Izod Center and it was just as good as the first. I didn’t get to meet anyone there but the experience was awesome again! I then had tickets for November 28th at MSG and I was so psyched because everyone knows how awesome concerts at the Garden. I had entered the best collection contest and was praying that I was going to win because my best friend wanted to meet him really badly. I kept thinking “nahhhh I’m not going to win because I already was lucky to meet him once.” On November 27th I got the email saying that I was invited to the MEET AND GREETS at the Garden! I WAS SO HAPPY. I called my best friend and she was screaming she was so excited. The next day I didn’t go to school because I was too excited for that night. I was sitting in my room and thought that I’d write Alfredo a note incase I saw him. My friend and I went into the city and when we got to the Garden, we picked up our bracelets to meet Justin. We had to get into groups of six so I went up to these three really nice little girls and a mom and said, “Hi guys, do you wat to be in the picture with us?” THAT’S WHEN MBE turned even better. I started talking to the lady and her three daughters and they told me that they were here because “someone” invited them. All these thoughts started running through my mind and I asked, “Oh who?” and the lady said, “Alfredo Flores invited us here, he is my nephew and these are all his cousins.” I didn’t even know what to say, I was in so much shock because it all happened randomly. I didn’t even suspect them to be related to Fredo. So anyways I tried to stay calm and I started talking to her and she was like, “Let me text Alfredo to tell him we’re here!” So she texted him and he just replied with a smile. I started telling her how he is so awesome, how I really respect him and he seems so sweet and how I wrote him a letter. She just started crying and I said, “Omg I’m sorry are you okay??” and she said “You are so sweet, I knew he was going to make it ever since he was a little boy, I need to text him and tell him you made me cry!” I hugged her and she went right along and texted him saying, “I just met this girl and she made me cry, she has to give you a letter that she wrote!” and he replied saying, “AW she must be really sweet. Text me when you guys are close to the curtain.” So as we approached closer and closer, I was freaking out. She texted him and said we were close and he came over and kissed his aunt and cousins and looked at me with the biggest smile on his face. I said “HI ALFREDO HOW ARE YOU? CAN I GIVE YOU THIS LETTER I WROTE YOU?” He said “Of course, give it to me!” and he put it right in his pocket. He asked me  for my Twitter name and I said I put it on the note. After that I took a picture of him, his cousins and aunt and than he said, “Lets take selfies,”so we took a picture and he was like, “Okay now lets get a normal picture.” I gave him the biggest hug and we just talked like two normal humans having a conversation. I didn’t even realize who I was talking to anymore because it was so calm and collected. I felt a piece of candy hit me and Alfredo said, “Omg justin is throwing candy watch out,” and I just laughed. I then went in to meet Justin and I didn’t really talk to him that much but I said hi and he looked at me in the eyes. He’s so dreamy. Fredo told Justin that they were his cousins and it was all very rushed but it was worth the experience. I went inside the arena and I ended up meeting Madison Beer. She was absolutely stunning and so sweet! Anyways, that was MBE and NEVER SAY NEVER. I had such amazing experiences on the Believe Tour and I’m so sad that it’s over with around me. For anyone who has never met Justin before, you will definitely one day! KEEP BELIEVING! -@amargowhatever @hcontinooo Go here to see the original: My name’s Amargo, I’m 17 years old and have been…

‘Pearl Jam Twenty’: The Reviews Are In

Critics accuse director Cameron Crowe over fawning over the band, but fans probably won’t mind. By Eric Ditzian Eddie Vedder in “Pearl Jam Twenty” Photo: Vinyl Films In a neat bit of pop-culture convergence, the 20th-anniversary commemoration of Nirvana’s Nevermind (which MTV News has been feting all week long) is coinciding with another grunge-centric, two-decade celebration: Cameron Crowe’s documentary about the founding and globe-spanning success of Pearl Jam . “When I saw the early … edits of it, I thought it was very interesting and kind of exciting and, like I said, it runs the gamut of all those emotions,” guitarist Mike McCready told us in May. “And it actually put in some sort of musical perspective the past 20 years, like, ‘Oh yeah, we did do that, we did do this’: the Ticketmaster thing, there was Roskilde, there were all these issues, and there were these great highs and interesting beginnings. The story it tells is: Why did it work, and why does it still? It made more sense when I saw the movie.” After debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, “Pearl Jam Twenty” is set for a one-night-only premiere at theaters across the country Tuesday (September 20). The early word from critics is that while the doc gives fans unique access to the band, especially in early footage hauled out from the achieves, it suffers from director Cameron Crowe’s hagiographic treatment of his subject. But that might just be exactly what PJ devotees are looking for. The Comparison “Cameron Crowe’s feature doc … is among his most effective and deeply felt work. … Every rock act possesses a mysterious alchemy that becomes a kind of mythology; as a portrait of one of the biggest bands in the world, ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ doesn’t so much capture that alchemy as describe it. But it does so with passion, and even the unconverted will find a convincing case for the band’s longevity, popularity and influence.” — Sheri Linden, The Hollywood Reporter The Focus “Crowe, who does a remarkable job of collecting archival footage from the band’s earliest days (and even before that) focuses heavily on [the band’s early days]. He narrates the beginning (before getting almost totally out of the way), setting the stage for the late ’80s and early ’90s, when Seattle was the rock music capital of the world. Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell talks about how there was a wealth of bands, but unlike in New York or Los Angeles, the competition tended to be more friendly than cut throat. Even later, when the twin towers of the Seattle scene — Pearl Jam and Nirvana — seemed ready to face off after Kurt Cobain slagged Pearl Jam’s music for being too mainstream, they resolved their differences before Cobain died.” — Melinda Newman, HitFix The Fandom “The cinematic equivalent of a concert T-shirt, XXL biodocu ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ gives another awesome souvenir to die-hard fans of the chart-topping Seattle scenesters-turned-cult faves while leaving others to wish there was a thesis in former rock-journo Cameron Crowe’s two-hour puff piece. Finding a pulse only in the band’s late-reel performance of ‘Alive,’ a lusty passage that would’ve begun a pic intent on making a case for the group’s greatness, ‘Twenty’ simply counts the years from 1991 via sludgy backstage and onstage footage whose rarity can’t forgive its inclusion. Crowe’s critic mentor, the late Lester Bangs, would cringe.” — Rob Nelson, Variety The Frontman “Before Vedder was vaguely mystical and a little inscrutable, he was boyish, smiley and uninhibited. Vedder doesn’t come through any clearer after ‘Pearl Jam Twenty,’ but the band’s journey remains a thoroughly entertaining one. Any enterprise like this is inherently self-congratulatory, but the film is best considered from Crowe’s perspective: that of a fan.” — Jake Coyle, The Associated Press The Final Word “[It] suffers from being an all-out fawnapalooza. Crowe, a former Rolling Stone reporter, wastes unprecedented access to one of modern rock’s most private, compelling and enigmatic acts to create little more than a promotional video for Pearl Jam’s non-stop tours. There’s plenty to elicit fist pumps from steadfast fans, largely because of rare archival footage. (A silly slow dance between security guard-turned-rocker Eddie Vedder and Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain is lump-in-the-throat poignant). Yet Crowe glosses over too many of Pearl Jam’s darkest days — a drummer’s mysterious firing, addiction battles, nine fans dying at a show — to keep non-Jammers from getting bored.” — Joseph Rose, The Oregonian For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Scalping And scarcity: The economics of live music

With the record business decimated by illegal downloading, the live concert represents the ailing music industry's biggest source of revenue. But as journalist John Seabrook reports in The New Yorker, the live concert business has yet to reconcile two competing sides of its identity. For the world's leading concert promoter and ticket seller — LiveNation and Ticketmaster, respectively — a concert is a moneymaking venture.
