Andrew Gillum Barely Loses Florida Governor Race By The Slimmest of Margins

A ndrew Gillum  barely fell short on Tuesday night in his historic campaign to become the first Black governor of Florida’s next governor. CNN projected that the contentious election would go to Republican and former Congressman Ron DeSantis , who edged the mayor of Tallahassee by the slimmest of margins that, in classic Florida fashion, could result in a recount. Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum: “We didn't win it tonight. We didn't win this transaction. But I want you all to know that is just it, a transaction, that what we believe in still holds true today.” https://t.co/QF15MHrJt2 #ElectionNight pic.twitter.com/RfsNpoY8y4 — ABC News (@ABC) November 7, 2018 Andrew Gillum concedes to GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis in Florida's gubernatorial race: “We recognize that, you know, we didn't win it tonight. We didn't win this transaction.” https://t.co/QF15MHrJt2 #Midterm2018 pic.twitter.com/lFYbOlVgJs — ABC News (@ABC) November 7, 2018 With 48.9 percent of the vote, Gillum, who earned more than 3.9 million votes, lost to DeSantis by a single percentage point, according to CNN’s count . Gillum, 39, cast his own ballot for himself late Tuesday morning at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee. He and his wife, R. Jai, and used a moment of levity for what was the biggest moment of his young but accomplished political career, according to the Tallahassee Democrat . “I voted for you,” R. Jai told her husband, who responded in front of a throng of supporters: “Okay, my wife voted for me.” ELECTION RESULTS: Follow NewsOne’s Midterm Election Coverage Here The election, however, was anything but a laughing matter. The post-primary Florida gubernatorial campaign has been marred by overt acts of racism from the DeSantis, whose distinguished record of racism has been well documented for years. On top of that negative distraction, Gillum was polling by as many as seven percentage points and as few as three over DeSantis, depending on which survey was being cited. The distinction between the two became clearer when they faced off twice for gubernatorial debates, during which Gillum showed his mastery of Florida policy while reducing DeSantis to racist dog-whistling attacks instead of substantive talking points. Aside from warning Florida voters not to “monkey this up” by electing Gillum, the Republican’s white supremacist supporters funded racist robocalls to Floridians that included monkey sounds. There was even the apparent FBI probe into Gillum allegedly inappropriately receiving tickets to the hit Broadway show “Hamilton,” but that issue seemed to fade pretty quickly after DeSantis tried to make it into a bigger deal than it was during the debates. Still, Gillum found the time to remain an effective mayor while waging a legitimate run for governor, even suspending his own campaign twice to deal with natural disaster striking Florida as well as a deadly shooting in Tallahassee. Bruce Jenner Reacts to Kris Jenner Heartbreak: Who Cares?!?

According to various accounts, Bruce Jenner is now dating  Ronda Kamihira , the best friend of his ex-wife, Kris Jenner. And even though Kris is allegedly torn apart over this development, crying herself to sleep every night because neither party even gave her the romantic heads-up, an insider says Bruce has only one reaction Kris’ waterworks: SO WHAT?!? ” Kris is devastated ,” a source tells People. “This was her best friend of 20 years, [but] Bruce isn’t really concerned with her feelings about it. Jenner and Kamihira were first spotted out together at an Elton John concert in Los Angeles on October 4, just a few weeks after he and Kris filed for divorce. Kris Jenner called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this week and played it all cool, saying she didn’t know anything about Bruce’s personal life, but that she wished him the best. “I don’t care who he goes out with,” she also said on the Today Show on Monday. “He doesn’t check in with me and give me a play-by-play!” But People says otherwise. “She is so sad, completely heartbroken and just truly shocked,” the magazine writes, partly because Kamihira’s children grew up with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and the children “have been best friends.” So, might Kris date again soon in order to get back at her ex-husband and best pal? Jenner “doesn’t have the time,” says the source, adding, “she’s not ready.” Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner: Through the Years… 1. Bruce and Kris Jenner in 2012 Awww, remember when? Leah Messer Spends $600 a Week on Pills, Drug Dealer Claims

Rumors that Leah Messer is addicted to prescription drugs seem to surface every few weeks, and the newly-remarried mother of three has vehemently denied them each time. Now, however, a drug dealer who claims to be Leah’s personal connection says he has all the details about the Teem Mom star’s dangerous pill problem. “She’s picked up 30 to 40 pills at a time from me,” the anonymous supplier tells Radar Online. He adds that since she’s become famous, she sometimes employs a middle man to carry out the transaction. However, he also says she frequently gets desperate and picks up the pills herself. The dealer claims Leah frequently spends several hundred dollars a week on pills, and her own friends and family have discussed her addiction publicly: “I’ve seen Leah pop a handful of pills, chew them like they were candy, and swallow them,” says one relative who asked to remain anonymous. Leah justifies her pill-popping with complaints of a bad back, but the source says “it’s actually the pain from withdrawal that bothers her, not her back. She can’t do a day without opiates.” Insiders claim that Leah’s habit may soon cost her her children and husband. Last week, Jeremy Calvert accused Leah of cheating in a series of vicious tweets. Leah denied cheating , and the couple seems to have overcome that particular dispute, but friends of Calvert’s claim he’s since decided to leave his wife. “He doesn’t have an exact timeline, but he’s done,” says the source. Shady Instutuions: Banks Made Over $32 BILLION In Overdraft Fees Last Year!!!

Banks Made Over $32 BILLION In Overdraft Fees Last Year Yes, BILLION! According to NBC News: Bank customers may complain about hefty overdraft fees, but they’re using the service more and paying the price. A new report from Moebs Services, a respected economic research firm, shows overdraft revenue at banks, credit unions and thrift institutions totaled $32 billion last year. That’s an increase of $400 million or 1.3 percent from 2011. “Consumers use of overdrafts shows no indication of going away, and is actually increasing,” said Michael Moebs, who wrote the study. At the current rate of growth, Moebs predicts revenue from overdraft fees will hit a new record by the end of 2016, topping the old record of $37 billion set in 2009. The Moebs study found that about a quarter of the people with a consumer checking account – that’s 38 million people – frequently overdraft. The median overdraft is about $40. More than half of the customers who frequently overdraft – 57 percent or 20 million people – go to payday lenders when they are short on funds. Why? Because a payday loan is significantly cheaper. “Payday lenders are the low-price source for short-term cash needs,” Moebs said. “You can get a cash advance for $16 as opposed to $25 at a community bank, $27 a credit union and $30 at bank or thrift. Those are median prices.” While the cost of an overdrawn account has been going up at many financial institutions, the price of borrowing from a payday lender has dropped. The median charge for a $100 cash advance dropped $1.50 from 2011 to 2012, from $17.50 to $16. Moebs firmly believes many of the people who use a payday lender would rather not, if the cost of the overdraft penalty was more in line with what the payday stores charge. He puts that price point at $20. Debit-card transactions often cause an account to be overdrawn. Remember: Your bank or credit union will deny a point-of-purchase debit-card payment or cash withdrawal from an ATM if there is not enough money in the account to cover it, unless you “opt in” to their overdraft protection plan. In that case, the transaction will go through and you’ll get hit with a fee. A recent study by the Pew Charitable Trusts found that 54 percent of the customers who had overdrawn their accounts said they did not realize they had signed up for an overdraft service that cost money. Susan Weinstock, director of Pew’s Safe Checking in the Electronic Age Project, said this shows there is “a very high level of confusion” about how this overdraft protection works. Shady, shady, shady. SMH.
