Getty Images NASA Science Competition Hacked By Racist Trolls NASA has admitted to shutting down the public voting for one of their innovation competitions after a hacker tried to rig the vote against a trio of Black girls who were in the lead. “On Sunday, April 29, hackers attempted to change the vote totals in the NASA OPSPARC Challenge, so managers of the challenge decided to end public voting to protect the integrity of the results,” the agency announced in a statement . The Banneker Academic High School students—Bria Snell, India Skinner, and Mikayla Sharrieff—were competing in NASA Goddard’s Optimus Prime Spinoff Promotion and Research Challenge. Their entry involved creating technology that would purify water in public schools, and had taken an early lead in the final with a whopping 70% of the vote, according to The Ro ot . Now, it looks like NASA had to shut down the voting due to a hacker’s racist intentions to prevent the girls from winning. The prize is a trip to the agency’s national space program in Maryland. The statement continued, “Unfortunately, it was brought to NASA’s attention yesterday that some members of the public used social media, not to encourage students and support STEM, but to attack a particular student team based on their race and encouraged others to disrupt the contest and manipulate the vote, and the attempt to manipulate the vote occurred shortly after those posts.” The Washington Post reports say that the “anonymous posters used racial epithets, argued that the students’ project did not deserve to be a finalist and said that the black community was voting for the teens only because of their race. They urged people to vote against the Banneker trio, and one user offered to put the topic on an Internet thread about President Trump to garner more attention. They recommended computer programs that would hack the voting system to give a team of teenage boys a boost.” The winners of the competition are to be announced in the next few weeks, a NASA Goddard spokesperson told Newsweek . “NASA continues to support outreach and education for all Americans, and encourages all of our children to reach for the stars,” they said.

After a solid month of rumors, gossip speculation and discussion from countless sources, we have finally heard from Beyonce herself. And Queen Bey delivered. Big time. The global music icon has confirmed the names of her newborn twins and shared the first photo of the pair, a fittingly glorious image. Somewhat amazingly, the widely circulated Beyonce baby names we reported late last month actually turned out to be accurate. Neither the mother of three nor her husband Jay Z had publicly commented on the names (or even their birth, for that matter). As was the case with their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, the private couple kept all the details to themselves until they were ready. So we were left wondering when, or if, they would do so here, and highly skeptical of Internet reports citing “sources” with intel. But in this case, the rumors were true. “Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today,” the 35-year-old captioned the photo above on Instagram in the early hours of Friday morning. Posted four hours ago, it has already received more than four million Likes as we type … probably a lot more by the time you read this. (Don’t you even think of NOT engaging with it, either. The Beygency has spreadsheets of all people who view it but don’t Follow or Like.) Also noteworthy – and overshadowed by that epic photo – is her acknowledgement of Sir and Rumi Carter’s birthday, one month ago. That would indicate the little kids’ birth as Wednesday, June 14, a solid 3-4 days before word got out that Beyonce gave birth to twins . Pretty impressive in this day and age. The family portrait, in which Bey wears a Palomo Spain ensemble, we’re told, evokes the same themes as her stunning maternity photo. Without question, the photo of her with the twins is a callback to Beyonce and Jay Z’s double baby announcement in February (above). The couple reportedly filed trademark documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in late June to protect the baby names. Filing to trademark names of infants less than a month old may sound patently (eh, eh?) absurd for anyone not named Jay Z and Beyonce. Yet it makes perfect sense for the Carters, because you know someone would actually try to do exactly what they’re trying to prevent. (Sir Carter is gonna be an epic rap name, BTW.) Rumi and Sir join big sister Blue Ivy, 5. Their proud parents stepped out last night to support Roc Nation artist Vic Mensa in Los Angeles. In one of the A-list duo’s first public appearances since expanding their family, “she was all smiles,” an onlooker reports, and rightfully so. Dressed in a white long-sleeve mini dress, she had her arm wrapped around her 47-year-old husband’s waist as they left the bash. Jay-Z briefly went on stage Thursday night to introduce the rapper, who recently announced his debut album, The Autobiography . Neither addressed their family in any way, shape or form … likely knowing Beyonce planned to do so in the wee hours of this morning. It’s been a crazy month, much of which was spent in the hospital, but Beyonce and her family are all at living home, happy and healthy. For a while, their health was the subject of much discussion as the twins’ stay in the hospital dragged on longer than expected. From what we’re told, unspecified health issues after their birth – most likely signs of jaundice – delayed the duo’s departure significantly. While obviously concerning to any new parent, newborns spending time “under the lights” to correct possible liver issues is commonplace. Tensions in the Big Brother house tend to skyrocket as we edge closer to an eviction, and things went into overdrive on the latest episode. We picked up with the houseguests in shock over Josh publicly slamming Cody and Jessica. Alex noted that she was happy to let the argument rage on because it took the target off her own back. Jessica chanted that Josh was a mere pawn for both sides of the house and that he should probably go and change his diaper. Cody decided there was no point in continuing the argument and walked off. Paul followed and complimented him for taking his nomination like a man. Despite their differences, both of them knew when the other made a good move. Later, Christmas gathered the houseguests and revealed that she needed major surgery on her foot. She explained that she was given the opportunity to leave the game, but she decided to stay in and fight it out. Cody did not give a damn and felt like she was using the injury to advance her game further, and left the situation. Jessica, however, wanted to extend the olive branch to her. Even though Jessica’s been Cody’s shadow all season long, she knew she needed to build relationships out with her relationship in order to make it further. Christmas was not impressed with the way Jessica was going on about her reasons for wanting Christmas out. The funny thing is, Jessica had no clue about nominating Christmas. It was a tense meeting, but the two women parted ways. There’s no chance of them ever finding a way to get along. Too much has been done for them to make things right. Things went from bad to worse for Jessica when the houseguests celebrated Dominique’s birthday. Raven had made a cake, and the have nots did not get too have some. Naturally, Jessica disappeared to another room and cried her heart out. Cody comforted her, but at least he got to eat cake. Desperate to help Jessica’s game, Cody turned to Christmas to say that Mark and Dominique were in on the plan to get rid of Christmas from the get-go. Christmas was skeptical but took the information on board. He even went as far as telling her to work with Alex and Jessica. He may seem deluded at times, but at least he’s looking out for his girl. His plan took a bigger turn when he opened up about two people coming to him during his HOH reign. He revealed this to the house during Dominique’s talk show. However, Dominique made a mistake by telling everyone there was a dominant group in the house and Paul was pissed. Everyone wondered why she would say something like that, but she did. The target is most definitely on her now. It’s amazing how quickly things change in the game. One wrong thing can seal your fate. At the eviction, Christmas was not present but managed to vote from the hospital. Yes, this is getting out of hand now. – Jessica votes to evict Ramses – Kevin votes to evict Ramses – Christmas (via phone from the hospital) votes to evict Ramses – Raven votes to evict Cody – Dominique votes to evict Cody – Mark votes to evict Cody – Jason votes to evict Cody – Josh votes to evict Cody – Elena votes to evict Cody – Matt votes to evict Cody The biggest shock in the voting was that Christmas voted to evict Ramses. It was bizarre and proved she could not be trusted. Cody was evicted by a vote of 7-3-0! On his way out the door, he asked Jessica to be his girlfriend. To the surprise of absolutely no one, she accepted. Julie then dropped the bomb that there will be a Battle Back next week, and Cody looked ecstatic. Good news! You now have one more abomination to throw in the face of your idiot friend who keeps insisting you need to give the Trump administration a chance. Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of a generation of a schoolchildren. Moments ago, Betsy DeVos – Trump’s pick as U.S. Secretary of Education – was confirmed for the position in a vote so close that a tie had to be broken by Vice President Mike Pence. The 51-50 vote officially makes DeVos one of the controversial cabinet members in American history. And why are so many unhappy about the appointment? Well, there’s the fact that DeVos will be in charge of our nation’s public schools, despite the fact that she never attended one, worked in one, or sent her children to one. And the fact that she favors privatizing public schools, despite the fact that such systems promote racial segregation and fail to benefit others besides wealthy CEOs like herself and Trump. Or how about the fact that openly bought her post through millions in campaign contributions to Trump and many of the Republican senators who voted today. Here’s a helpful look at how her cash was distributed. Little Marco must be tough to buy off! Two Republican senators did vote against the appointment, proving that there is some opposition to Trump’s billionaires first agenda. Just not enough to make any real difference. This is far from the only controversial cabinet appointment made by Trump, and the president seems intent on privatizing or eliminating any of federal programs and services. There were cries of outrage when Rex Tillerson was appointed Secretary of State because the Exxon-Mobil CEO seems to have been chosen for no other reason than that he’s a close business ally to Vladimir Putin. Millions were infuriated when Rick Perry was chosen as Secretary of Energy because he admitted to being clueless as to what the department does, and had previously spoken of doing away with it. Then there’s Scott Pruitt, tapped by Trump to head the Environmental Protection Agency – which he spent his entire career as Oklahoma’s Attorney General at odds with, and often suing. And yet the DeVos nomination somehow seems even worse. Almost like the people of this country care about their children’s future. Did Trump overplay his hand with this one? No matter what you may think of the candidate, you can understand why his offspring would be proud to take this step. But Eric Trump then took another step, snapping a photo of his ballot and sharing it on Twitter. “It is an incredible honor to vote for my father!” he captioned the social media photo, adding: “He will do such a great job for the U.S.A! #MakeAmericaGreatAgain.” Again, folks can debate whether or not they believe this to be true and we’ll know in a few hours on which side a majority of the country falls… … but one thing cannot be debated: What Eric Trump did was illegal. A federal judge recently upheld New York’s ban on ballot selfies. As NY1 reported on Friday, voters who are caught taking selfies inside of the voting booth can face a fine of up to $1,000 and one year in jail. Likely made aware that he had violated the law, Eric deleted the above Tweet after just a short while. But this is the Internet. It will live forever. “A last-minute, judicially-imposed change in the protocol at 5,300 polling places would be a recipe for delays and a disorderly election, as well-intentioned voters either took the perfectly posed selfie or struggled with their rarely-used smartphone camera,” the judge’s decision read. It concluded: “This would not be in the public interest, a hurdle that all preliminary injunctions must cross.” Justin Timberlake committed the same offense last week when he voted early in Tennessee and snapped a selfie of himself doing so. So perhaps Eric Trump just wanted to be compared to Justin Timberlake for the first time in his life. “I recently voted,” the singer joked to Jimmy Fallon after this incident went viral. “Super quiet, under the radar. Went home to Tennessee and voted. Super quiet, in and out. No one even knew.” We doubt Eric Trump will go to jail, but it’s ironic, isn’t it? His dad has spent months trying to make the case that Hillary Clinton is corrupt… and then here comes his very own son, committing an illegal action on the very say Donald hopes to be voted into office.
