Will Smith has revealed that he’s pleased with how “quickly” and “aggressively” the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has responded to the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.…
Earlier this week, Jada Pinkett Smith called out the Academy for the lack of diversity amongst the 2016 Oscar nominees. It’s an important and legitimate complaint, but Jada has met with some serious backlash – and not just from the bigoted comment board trolls who always throw tantrums over this sort of thing. Yesterday, Janet Hubert – who played the original Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air – went off on Jada in a bizarre four-minute video that she posted online. It wasn’t terribly surprising, as Hubert and Jada’s husband, Will Smith, have openly disliked one another for years. The latest criticism, however, comes straight of of left field, courtesy of noted crazy person Alexis Arquette, who posted, then quickly deleted the following batsh-t rant on Facebook: “ When Jada comes out as gay and her beard husband admits his first marriage ended when she walked in to him butt servicing his sugar daddy Benny Medina..then I will listen to them. Will threw a fit on the set of Six Degrees of Separation when he was required by the scene to kiss Anthony Rapp. He persuaded the director to shoot the back of his head in frame. Blocking the non existent lip lock entirely. Fuck him. Gays have enemies. They lurk in gilded closets. Outing is healthy. You are either wish or against us. You decide. Today .” Rumors about Will and Jada’s sex life being far from traditional have been circulating for years, but even if every single one of those reports is true, who the hell cares? What does that have to do with Jada’s accusations of bigotry within the Academy? What’s the point of any of this, aside from drumming up some publicity for Alexis Arquette, whose previous claim to fame was describing Jared Leto’s penis ? Anyway, we’re sharing this story because it’s interesting, but Alexis deserves exactly zero space in your brain, so please zap yourself with one of those Men In Black memory-erasing dealies right now. We’re sure in this case, Will would happily lend you his. View Slideshow: The Cast of Independence Day: Where Are They Now?
Award season is upon us and tonight, Hollywood’s A-listers came out for a memorable night at the 2016 Golden Globes. Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the show started off with a few low-blows by the comedian – taking shots at Sean Penn‘s snitching to Caitlyn Jenner‘s remarkable year. But it was alas the speeches by some of your favorite actors and […]
Bennet Omalu, the real life doctor who inspired the Will Smith film, “Concussion” believes there should be an age of consent for children to play football.
Will Smith Wants To Run For Political Office In The “Near Future” It’s possible Kanye West may have some serious competition when he runs for president in 2020 because Will Smith’s looking to join him in the political arena. During a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter podcast, Big Willie revealed he has dreams to take his talents to Washington, DC because the political climate is so sh*tty, it literally keeps him up night. VIa The Hollywood Reporter : “America’s the only place on Earth that I could exist. No other country on Earth produces Will Smiths, you know?” He adds, “If you look back historically, of how black people have had it on the planet, America is elevating quite well, based on the history of our people.” That is not to say Smith is content with the state of affairs in America right now — in fact, he’s far from it. He catches me off-guard with his next declaration: “I’m a climber, so if I see a mountain, I have to climb it. I’m not a camper; I don’t like hanging in one place too long. So I think, at this point, I’m elevating my ability to be useful in the world. I think that that’s what my grandmother always hoped, that I would make myself useful to people in this lifetime. I’m working really hard and my storytelling is elevating, my ability to be eloquent with my body and with my voice and to deliver ideas as an actor is elevating. And, you know, as I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me. They might need me out there. This is the first year that I’ve been incensed to a level that I can’t sleep, you know? So I’m feeling that at some point, in the near future, I will have to lend my voice to the conversation in a somewhat different way.” We wonder if holding any type of political office will be more “excruciating” than being married to Jada . Chrissy Teigen Denies Making Tyra Banks Leave Talk Show We reported earlier this week that Tyra Banks had quit her own daytime talk show to pursue other endeavors. According to The Hollywood Reporter the model wanted to work on her makeup collection instead. In a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter, Banks said that she wanted to scale back on her daytime duties in order to focus on her cosmetics line. “This is a very difficult decision, but necessary,” she said in the statement. FABLife is produced by Disney/ABC. Banks will remain as executive producer through December. With a bench of co-hosts and contributors – including Chrissy Teigen, fashion editor Joe Zee, interior designer Lauren Makk and YouTube star Leah Ashley – there are no plans to replace Banks. “I will be devoting more time to my new, growing cosmetics company, TYRA Beauty, which is expanding faster than anticipated, as well as overseeing my company’s other entertainment ventures. I will however continue to support the growth and success of FABLife and greatly admire my fellow co-hosts and the talented production team behind the show,” Banks added in her statement. Will Smith And Jada Pinkett Smith Admit 20 Year Marriage Has Been Grueling Now this actually looks like an excruciating marriage. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith made another joint appearance this week, with Will keeping it 100 about how they’ve made it 20 years together through all the ups and downs… Via Daily Mail reports : At the Los Angeles premiere of his film Concussion on Monday, the 47-year-old spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how they keep their relationship so strong. ‘We’ve been married 20 years and we’ve been asking ourselves [what’s the secret to marriage] and really at the end of the day it’s just not quitting,’ the star revealed. ‘You can’t expect it to be easy,’ Will continued, adding: ‘It’s like our marriage was the most difficult, grueling, excruciating thing that we have ever taken on in our lives. And you know we’re just not quitters.’ He also opened up on what he believes to be the secret to maintaining a good marriage, which is always working to be a better person. ‘I would say is that we never went into working on our relationship,’ He explained. ‘We only ever worked on ourselves individually, and then presented ourselves to one another better than we were previously.’ That seems like a good strategy… Especially considering they have that “open” situation. Kinda hard to work on something with someone when they are running around humping somebody else. #Just Sayin… The duo are frequently plagued with divorce rumors, though they always shoot them down, with Will most recently refuting claims this past August with a Facebook post. ‘So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are…NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ the star emphatically wrote. He continued: ‘I promise you all – if I ever decide to divorce my Queen – I SWEAR I’ll tell you myself! #Dumb People Should Have to Wear Scarlet D’s.’ The Gotham alum echoed her husband’s sentiments on Twitter, simply posting: ‘My king has spoken.’ And the pair frequently gush about each other on social media as well, with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum sharing a sweet throwback photo of the couple along with a heartfelt message for Jada’s birthday. In September he wrote: ‘I’ve told you “I love you” at least 8,285 times. And of the nearly 3.96 Billion women on the planet – there is only 1 that I want to spend the rest of my life with.’ For Will’s birthday about a week later Jada similarly gushed, writing: ‘I’m not going to pull out the calculator like you did but know this… you have a 100 percent of my heart and the rest of my days…’ Upcoming drama Concussion, in which Will plays plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic neuropathologist who was the first to discover chronic traumatic encephalopathy in football players, hits theaters Christmas Day in the US. Are you checking for Will’s new movie? Do you think the Smith’s marriage will last til death do them part or nah? AKM-GSI
