Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 22 Recap: One Year Later…

Well, that’s one way to handle the grieving process: Simply do not show the grieving process. Running two hours in length,  Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 22 divided the fan base of this ABC drama, as it didn’t really show anyone reacting to Derek’s stunning death last week. Watch Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 22 Online Instead, we watched Meredith tell her colleagues, faint, grab her kids, get out of Seattle… and then it was Easter, with April leaving for three months to join Owen in some war-torn country. And then it was Memorial Day, with Ben and Bailey fighting about whether the former would want to remain on life support. And then it was July 4, with April telling Jackson she’s gonna remain overseas for a bit and Catherine turning down Richard’s proposal. And then it was Halloween, with Stephanie asking Amelia to join a support group in order to process Derek’s death. And then it was Thanksgiving, with Alex able to get Meredith on the phone, albeit briefly. And then it was Christmas Eve, with Dan thanking Callie for helping hime ith the operation and viewers learning Meredith was PREGNANT! During the second hour, we settled in a full year after Derek’s death. April came home; Owen kept Amelia from taking many pills; and Meredith gave birth to a daughter named Ellis. (Seriously, go watch Grey’s Anatomy online . This ALL happened in one episode.) View Slideshow: 9 TV Shows That SHOULD Be Canceled As the unique installment came to an end, Richard accepted Catherine’s proposal of marriage and Merdeith returned home with Alex and the children. She even managed to share a smile with Maggie and Alex. At work, Mer put on Derek’s surgical cap and told Bailey that she was totally ready for this. “All I have to do,” she said in a voiceover, “is begin.” What did you think of how the series handled Derek’s death? Was it a cheap, lazy writing trick to just skip ahead an entire year? Or did the show have no choice because this death was simply too big of a deal? Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 14 Recap: How to Save a Life

Amelia Shepherd tried her best go to “The Distance” on  Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 14 . She operated on Dr. Herman’s tumor. Again and again and again and again. We opened the hour with Amelia crying out some anxiety in the bathroom before her voiceover told us how a surgeon must “always be prepared to lose, but never fail.” She steeled herself for the long procedure to come, taking on a superhero persona with Stephanie prior to cutting Herman open. With her colleagues watching from the gallery, Amelia quickly realized just how daunting this would be. In time, she literally froze, getting trapped inside Herman’s head, unable to move without snipping out a vital part of her brain (Editor’s Note: We could never be brain surgeons.) Panicked, Amelia pleased with Richard to get Richard on a plane. STAT. But Richard remain calm, kept Amelia calm and helped her clear the optic nerve. After Stephanie collapsed from exhaustion (around the 13-hour mark), Meredith scrubbed in and Amelia learned just how tough it was to work while wearing thick gloves to protect her from radiation. So, to Owen’s horror as you’ll see when you watch Grey’s Anatomy online , she took the gloves off, making the procedure easier… but also risking disease and cutting her exposure time in half. But she forged on and succeeded! When Stephanie woke up, Amelia let her close up the patient’s head and then sank into an emotional heap on the hallway floor. Elsewhere, Miranda was concerned over Arizona taking over the complicated case of Glenda. But Robbins stood up to Bailey, delivering the baby and saving the mother’s life. Afterward, Arizona broke down when Callie came in with an update on her mentor. Finally, with Arizona by her side, Herman awoke. She seemed like herself… except she was completely blind. Still, she made a point of telling Arizona that she was alive solely due to her persistence. She had picked the right horse and she knew it. Grey’s Anatomy Stunner: Who’s Returning?

In a shocking announcement, Grey’s Anatomy producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed today that Isaiah Washington will check back in to her ABC series to help bid farewell to Sandra Oh in May. The actor departed the series at the conclusion of Season 3 amidst a firestorm he created by referring to then-colleague T.R. Knight by a gay slur. Washington’s character, Dr. Preston Burke, was written off the drama when he left Oh’s Cristina at the altar. Oh, meanwhile, said last year that she would be leaving the drama following Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 . Said Rhimes in a statement: “It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey – he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.” No word yet on what brings Burke back into the fold or how Rhimes will send Yang on her way. But it’s been presumed for awhile now that the surgeon will not be killed off. Washington starred briefly on NBC’s Bionic Woman after getting the boot from Grey’s Anatomy, but will soon pick up his first regular TV role in years when he appears on The CW’s  The 100 .

Grey’s Anatomy Season Premiere Recap: Most Intense Episode Ever?

Grey’s Anatomy returned for its 10th season with a two-hour premiere last night, and for fans who have stuck with the show, it was all they could hope for. Make-ups. Break-ups. Lighter moments and tragic ones. And probably the most intense first 15-20 minutes of any episode in Grey’s Anatomy history. Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 Premiere Recap We start off with Bailey, the baby, and everybody fawning over him and his cute parents. That little baby MerDer has the fans swooning from the start. But the levity is short-lived. Callie lets everyone know that Arizona cheated on her, and she is not happy. Richard is missing and Shane is sent to find her. Then tragedy strikes. Shane pawns the task off on Heather, who discovers a semi-conscious Webber, but is electrocuted and dies herself on the spot. Shane ends up finding Heather and Webber, who is alive, but weak and needs surgery. Since he is childless and a widower, they must find his next-of-kin. That would be Meredith Grey. Meredith chose to go through with the operation, despite any misgivings, but Katherine Avery demands they stop, claiming his body can’t handle it. Bailey was adamant that Webber needed surgery. Katherine told Bailey the reason she is so determined is because she told him he was a “drunk.” In the end, it was up to Meredith to decide and she gives it the green light. Webber survives, and Grey’s fans are rewarded for holding out hope. As for Heather, there was no hope. The interns were given the night off and ordered to come up with nice stories to tell their colleague’s mother. Initially, they couldn’t come up with any. They didn’t think they were close. Guilt weighed heavily on Shane, for his obvious, indirect link to her death. Alex tells them that Cristina and Meredith, the only two left from the original Grey’s Anatomy intern class, are his family and that they are the same. Owen and Cristina broke up in the season finale, but they are far from over. They get it on multiple times as a way to “redo” their last time together. Jackson and April are done. For now. He breaks it off, and she accepts Matthew’s proposal, but one gets the sense that it’s not over for them either. Arizona and Callie made for some of the episode’s most heated moments, as Callie moved out and took little Sofia to Derek and Meredith’s house. Callie then refused to let Arizona even see Sofia. Cristina told her such actions are only hurting Sofia in the end. Think Calzona can weather this? Read TV Fanatic’s Grey’s Anatomy review for much more analysis!

Sandra Oh to Leave Grey’s Anatomy After Season 10

Five-time Emmy nominee Sandra Oh has announced that she will depart Grey’s Anatomy following its upcoming 10th season, ending in May 2014. The actress said Tuesday, “It’s such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and to actually get the sense that she wants to be let go as well.” “Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go.” “[Cristina] wants to be let go, and I am ready to let her go. We have to start the process, story-wise, for the writers to think of why she’s going to go.” Oh signed a two-year deal with the series in May 2012, as did co-stars Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, whose deals are also up next spring. “I’ve gone through a lot of therapy over this,” Oh said. “I started thinking about it because I had to prepare myself. I gave myself two years to emotionally let go.” Despite the emotional departure of the acclaimed actress who brought us Cristina Yang, fans shouldn’t expect the hospital itself to close up shop. ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee said at this summer’s Television Critics Association that he hopes Grey’s Anatomy will continue to run for “many years.” How much it will resemble the show that premiered in 2005 and once averaged over 20 million viewers a week remains to be seen, but it will go on. Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 kicks off September 26 with a two-hour premiere.
