Troy Nixey’s upcoming film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark shares elements in common with producer Guillermo del Toro ‘s Pan’s Labyrinth — the little girl heroine, the gothic old mansion, a world of fantastical creatures with sinister secrets — but its supernatural antagonists are tinier, scarier, and way more desperate for you to come “play” with them. Find out more about the goblin-like “homunculi” that live in the basement in two new clips from the upcoming horror-fantasy.

During MTV News live stream, Elizabeth Reaser recalls ‘crying a lot’ on the last day of filming. By Ryan J. Downey Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con Photo: Getty Images SAN DIEGO — MTV News returned to San Diego Comic-Con this year, and thanks to the magic of the Internet, we’ve brought you along for all the festivities. We caught up with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner from “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” and several of their castmates — Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Elizabeth Reaser and Julia Jones — came by to talk to us live. “The great thing about Comic-Con is that it never feels like work,” Lautner told us. “We come down to San Diego, we hang out together, we go in a room with 7,000 fans, it’s fun. It’s our way of thanking the fans. It’s amazing that they still camp out and have that same amount of passion that they always have.” We invited you to send questions via Twitter to @MTVNews with the hashtag #mtvsdcc, and we were very happy to provide some answers. Our live stream was full of “Twilight” revelations, pontifications and ruminations from the cast and director Bill Condon (as well as some expert “Twilight Saga” fans) about the first part of the saga’s epic conclusion, which doesn’t hit theaters until November 18. Your Twitter questions ran the gamut from specific story questions to wondering whether the stars have Googled themselves and which of them have watched “The Vampire Diaries” and “True Blood.” But mostly everyone wanted to know what it felt like for the cast to wrap up the cinematic adaptation of the popular romantic/supernatural novels that kicked off the current vampires-and-werewolves craze. “I think the most surreal experience was getting married [in the movie],” Stewart told us of the “Breaking Dawn” filming process, pointing out that the entire cast was anxious to see how it would all go down. “It had a feeling — I don’t want to say it felt like a real wedding, [but] it definitely felt like a ceremony.” “For me, personally, the last day, when we wrapped, I didn’t believe it,” Jones told us during the live stream. “I hadn’t even thought that was possible. I just stood there like a zombie. People started hugging me. ‘You’re wrapped! You’re wrapped!’ I was in a little bit in a daze.” “I think I’m going to miss the community,” she added. “I realize how valuable it is that there’s this big group of us and we keep meeting up all over the place and going on this ride together.” Reaser told us she wrapped “at the exact same moment” as her “show husband,” Peter Facinelli. “We were crying a lot. We were just completely shocked and hugging. We went out and we had a little meal together. It was surreal. But it was nice that I got to have a moment with Peter.” Reed was also focused on the different character pairings in the film. “I was really nervous about the relationship between Rosalie and Bella,” she said during our live stream. “It is a very special dynamic, and I wanted to make sure the transition happened naturally and organically. I wanted to make sure my head was in the right place. I’m a nervous wreck about all of these movies.” “I’ve been waiting to film ‘Breaking Dawn.’ It’s juicy,” Lutz said. “It’s a way larger production. We shot some really epic scenes that took multiple, multiple days.” “Twilight” isn’t the only major franchise at San Diego Comic-Con, of course. We’ll launch another live stream at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, we’ll have appearances from Justin Timberlake and Lautner (this time promoting “Abduction”) and exclusives from “Cowboys & Aliens” and “Thundercats.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Pirates’ star is reportedly lining up several new films, including ‘The Night Stalker.’ By Terri Schwartz Johnny Depp Photo: Jorge Herrera/Getty Images Though he certainly could happily retire on his “Pirates” loot, never let it be said that Johnny Depp is not one of the hardest-working men in Hollywood. This week, news broke of three new potential Depp projects in early discussions. Though he has commitments to Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” remake and Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger” update at the moment, and has said he would consider future installments of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise , it sounds like Depp is trying to keep himself busy for the foreseeable future. Deadline reports that two of the movies are being set up with Disney (Depp’s go-to company these days). The first is a feature film version of “The Night Stalker,” a 1970s TV horror movie and series that tells the story of tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak after he stumbles upon a series of supernatural killers. The second is an untitled Paul Revere film that Depp is working on with “Batman Forever” writers Lee and Janet Batchler. It would follow Revere during the 24-hour time period in which he made his legendary midnight ride to warn the revolutionaries that the British were coming. Depp would potentially star as the lead in both films. And earlier this week, “Miral” director Julian Schnabel let slip the other bit of Depp news during an interview with The Playlist , when he stated that the “Pirates” star had approached him about an adaptation of “In the Hand of Dante.” Depp had purchased film rights to the book by Nick Tosches several years ago and asked Schnabel to consider it as his next project. It’s not clear if Depp would star in the movie. “I’m not going to make it for a couple of years,” Schnabel said of the adaptation of the novel, which weaves the story of the 14th century poet and that of a contemporary writer caught up in the potential black market sale of Dante’s “Divine Comedy” manuscript. “We’re gonna work on writing it, developing it. We didn’t sign anything. It’s just something Johnny asked me to read, and I think it’s a great book, so maybe you should read it. It’s pretty beautiful. It’s about everything.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Related Photos The Evolution Of: Johnny Depp
Our apologies for the delay to all the True Blood fans out there in Skinland- Skin Central was out of town judging an American flag bikini contest this weekend. Actually, that’s only half true (we’ll let you figure out which half). But holiday or no, nudity never rests, and this weekend True Blood turned up the heat (and, one can only assume, the humidity) in the sleepy town of Bon Temps, Louisiana with three skintillating nude scenes. First Family Guy voice actress Alexandra Breckenridge appeared in the flesh as a vampire groupie, and oh what sweet, sweet topless flesh it was. Then Javina Gavankar bared some supernatural snookers as a nude shapeshifter, with a flash of full frontal as she stood up and changed into a horse. Finally, Javina’s fellow shapeshifter Lindsay Pulcipher took off her dress and changed into a panther, but not before we got a good look at her love muffins. We just have one burning, aching question- does swelling count as shapeshifting? Because if it does, there’s a major supernatural event going on in our pants right now. See all the nudes from this weekend’s True Blood after the jump!
Last night True Blood returned to HBO for its fourth season, and the sexy supernatural show’s ability to truly get your blood pumping hasn’t diminished over the past year. This season’s events take place a year after last season’s finale, and Tara ( Rutina Wesley ) has moved away from Bon Temps to start a new life with a new name, new job, and oh yeah, a sexy new underground cage fighter girlfriend ( Vedette Lim ). Vedette bares both boobs in bed with Rutina before their skinterracial lesbian lovemaking is interrupted by some bad news from back home. Series star Anna Paquin was also briefly nude last night, a quick flash of her left love muffin when a vampire walks in on her getting dressed. Tit’s not much, but according to reports Anna has some great nudity coming later in the season- this is just a warmup. Sink your teeth into more True Blood nudes after the jump!
The pair tied the knot in New York on Wednesday. By Jocelyn Vena Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig Photo: Getty Images It was the kind of clandestine operation only James Bond could pull off. Rachel Weisz and her “James Bond” beau Daniel Craig secretly married last week in New York. Reps for the couple confirmed the nuptials to the Daily Mail and People.com . Little is known about the Big Apple ceremony, but according to reports, the wedding took place on Wednesday and was attended by just four people. In addition to the actors’ children — Rachel’s 5-year-old son, Henry (his dad is “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky), and Daniel’s 18-year-old daughter, Ella — the wedding guests included two friends of the couple who acted as witnesses. “Daniel and Rachel insisted on having a small, quiet wedding,” a source reportedly told the News of the World. “They are madly in love and couldn’t wait to be husband and wife — but they wanted minimum fuss. They had a couple of friends as witnesses and their children from previous relationships and that was it.” Weisz and Craig have always been quite private about their relationship. Romance rumors were sparked last year when they were filming “Dream House,” in which they star as a married couple. In the supernatural thriller, their lives take a turn for the worse when they move with their two daughters to a quiet New England town and find out their new home was the site of a murder that claimed the life of a young mother and her two children. Naomi Watts also stars in the film as a neighbor with close ties to the deceased family. Last year, Weisz split from Aronofsky, whom she was with for nine years. Meanwhile, Craig parted ways with his producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell earlier in 2010.
That sound you just heard was the entire Internet saying in unison, “Good job, Joel Courtney!” The adorable Super 8 star has just been cast as Tom Sawyer in Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn . Per Variety, the Jo Kastner-directed adaptation will shoot in Bulgaria instead of Missouri, which is… odd. Otherwise, mint! Courtney is also in talks for the supernatural thriller The Healer . Spooky, scary, etc. [ Variety ]
