Source: Harry How / Getty With his glory days behind him as he considers riding off into the retirement sunset, Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzk i was honored for his court contributions in a most classy fashion. Los Angeles Clippers Doc Rivers used a timeout during a contest to urge the Staples Center crowd to stand and clap for Nowitzki. ESPN reports : Dirk Nowitzki had no idea why LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers called a timeout with 9.4 seconds remaining and his team leading by nine points Monday night. Rivers’ reasoning became clear seconds later when he walked to the scorer’s table, picked up the public address announcer’s microphone and gave an impromptu tribute to Nowitzki, the legendary face of the Dallas Mavericks franchise who is in his 21st season. “Dirk! Dirk!” Rivers hollered, gesturing to the Staples Center crowd to show its appreciation to the all-time great who was playing perhaps his last game in the arena, then pointing toward Nowitzki. “Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!” “One of the greatest of all time, Dirk Nowitzki!” Dirk Nowitzki hasn’t officially retired but it’s rumored he will step down at the conclusion of the current NBA season. — Photo: Getty

Every Day Stoopids: Joe Budden Eviscerates “Ugly Trolls” Nedeska & Akademiks Over Their Half-Baked Soulja Boy Interview

Source: Jerod Harris/MTV/TRL/Earl Gibson III / Getty Joe Budden Questions Complex’s Motives After “Every Day Struggle” Soulja Boy Interview Joe Budden has a thesis about a Soulja Boy interview conducted by his former colleagues at Complex. In his latest podcast episode, Joe said he thinks “Every Day Struggle” just exists to be in a “marketplace”, not contributing anything to culture and names DJ Akademiks and Nadeska as the “ugly trolls” who just perpetuate the vultures at Complex behind their branded hip-hop show. What sparked the critique was how poorly he says they handled their interview with Soulja. The hosts seemingly mocked the rapper/entrepreneur throughout the interview. Joe was ticked off even further by the audacity of Nadeska saying “we support Black businesses up here.” Joe, from his own account, said Complex has laid off countless Black talent and Rich Antonielloe (CEO of Complex Media) said to him verbatim that he has a “hard time selling ads on a show with Black people”… Yikes! Sit down! The other point in the interview that came off foolish was Nadeska asking “why do you have so many businesses?” as Akademiks trolled Soulja’s game console. Hit play at the 35:00 mark to hear Joe’s critiques. Here is the clip from EDS, in case you missed it: Big Soulja really out here teaching entrepreneurship. He ain’t making tennis shoes and calling himself Walt Disney .. he making whole video game consoles. pic.twitter.com/W8yOBCWAao — DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) January 17, 2019 Hmmm, is Complex really for or against the culture with this interview? Joe isn’t alone in his critique. As interview clips with EDS and Soulja Boy spread, folks online were similarly disgusted with the way he was handled. Hit the flip to see reactions. Continue reading

Babyface Says Bobby Brown Originally Hated “Don’t Be Cruel”

Source: Earl Gibson/BET / Getty There’s a lot of history between Bobby Brown and Babyface. In 1986, Bobby was on top of the world. He had just parted ways with New Edition and released his solo debut, King of Stage under MCA Records.  In 1987, Bobby began working on his second album, Don’t Be Cruel , with two young R&B songwriters and producers, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio “L.A.” Reid. Unbeknownst to the general public, he wasn’t really feeling them. We found out a little bit more about this during part one of BET’s The Bobby Brown Story . In the film, we see that Bobby Brown wants an edgier approach to music. He’s introduced to Babyface and L.A. Reid and is instantly skeptical. Their appearance nor their catalog really fit the energy Bobby was trying to achieve. Baby Face and L.A. Reid were fairly new to the scene and although they’ve reached some success of their own, Bobby Brown was skeptical that they’d be able to bring the level of success he was looking for. In fact, according to Babyface, as they worked on “Don’t Be Cruel”, the album’s lead single, he admits that Bobby Brown absolutely hated it. We spoke exclusively to Babyface who told us about his first time meeting Bobby Brown in the studio. “I think ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ might’ve been the first song we did,” said Babyface. “We were just trying to learn each other at that particular point. He didn’t love the song so it wasn’t like he was really into it. It took a little more work to get it done, I think. We got that one done and as other songs started to come in, I think he liked the other songs a little bit better.” According to The Bobby Brown Story , Bobby was very adamant about working with Teddy Riley, and he did for his new jack swing laced second single “My Prerogative.”  The track went on to earn Bobby his first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and become the second-biggest single of 1989. In the end, all five singles from the Don’t Be Cruel  album also reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Babyface wrote and/or produced 6 of the 11 songs on the album. Beyonce And Jay-Z Protected By Dancers Who Beat Up A Crazed Fan That Jumped On Stage

Source: Beyonce.com / Courtesy of Beyonce.com Saturday night was an eventful night for live music. Across the country, various artists were hitting the stage and they all had some wild and crazy things happening at the same time. Is Mercury still in Gatorade or what? The craziest event of the night had to go to The Carters. Let’s take a look at Beyonce and Jay Z’s On The Run II Tour in Atlanta. For the most part, the show was amazing. Almost everything went off without a hitch. Jay Z and Beyonce ran through all of their classics, Beyonce put on one hell of a show. Beyonce even gave Atlanta an amazing swag surf of all swag surfs. Swag Surfin'. #OTRII #Atlanta https://t.co/m47AMvyWCv pic.twitter.com/hu8AmX2uSD — BEYONCÉ LEGION (@BeyLegion) August 26, 2018 Everything was going surprisingly well until the end of the show. Jay and Bey performed their final song of the night, “Apesh*t” and as they were making their exit, a crazed fan jumps on stage and chases behind them. It was almost too crazy to be true but it really happened! Several videos began to pop up online showing a fan running on stage at the conclusion of the show. It’s unclear what his motives were but fortunately for us, Beyonce’s background dancers seemed to be military trained because they were able to apprehend him before he could get too close to the Carters (and by apprehend, we mean beat his a$$). Check out some of the videos below. “Yo, Beyoncé’s dancers are RIDE OR DIE. Somebody jumped on the stage and the male dancers stomped him the fuck out,” said Twitter user  @ Burrrittanie . Look how easily this fool got on stage and no one stopped him! #OTRII pic.twitter.com/E1dXthqgWN — J. Antonio ♕ (@DivineTonio) August 26, 2018 OMG Beyoncés dancers were ready!!! pic.twitter.com/RrmujVngsC — JOHN (@IAM_Johnathan) August 26, 2018 There are so many questions that need to be answered. The first question being, where in the world was security at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium when this man was able to effortless hop on stage like this? The second question is, who all is getting fire? And the third and final question is, will Beyonce return to Atlanta after this? All we truly know is that Bey and Jay are safe. Her dancers truly need a raise for their quick thinking because if it weren’t for them, things could have gone horribly wrong. Thankfully, the BeyHive does not come to play when it comes to protecting our hip hop royalty.

Twitter Exploded Last Night Over Whether Or Not The Gay Agenda Exists (Spoiler: It Doesn’t, Dummies)

The Gay Agenda Myth Explodes Last night, Nipsey Hussle riled up Twitter last night with his homophobic rants and a conversation with Deray that went a little bit like this: I don’t look down on gay people I love all Gods children foreal. I take issue with the larger agenda.and I’m VERY WELL INFORMED contrary to my appearance. And my conclusion is there’s AN AGENDA…we can go fact for fact and get u some understanding if you’d like. If not God bless https://t.co/DvewsKGojS — THA GREAT (@NipseyHussle) January 9, 2018 This caused a tidal wave of takes, opinions and plain old wrongness by a lot of people on the internet. Mostly the idea of a “gay agenda.” The idea is that America is “pushing” stories and images of gay black men to create feminized black men. This is unilaterally stupid. A TV show with gay black characters isn’t turning anyone gay. And, well, we’ll just leave the rest to Twitter to explain why the idea of a gay agenda is wildly dumb. It seems to us like the LGBT community’s agenda is to do things like live, enjoy life and not be bothered by people asking them about an agenda. Why is that so hard to understand? Hit the flip to get some knowledge… How fitting that a rapper who finally signed to a major label, the industry largely responsible for perpetuating a very specific image of Black men, offering that trite folklore that gay Black men are the ones advancing the white man’s agenda. pic.twitter.com/0FoLj6ghhG — Michael Arceneaux (@youngsinick) January 8, 2018
