Question Of The Day: Is God On Tim Tebow’s Side???

Our father, who art in Denver… Today at 8pm EST The Denver Broncos will play the New England Patriots to determine which team will advance to the AFC Championship game and a chance to attend “The Big Dance” The Superbowl. Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has been a lightning rod of controversy over the past 2 months not only because of his unconventional playing style, but also his stout religious beliefs. Tebow the athlete is fun to watch with his passion and flashes of brilliance. Tebow the acolyte – the devoted follower of God – is easy to admire, and even those annoyed by public piety can be won over by his goodheartedness and the sheer joy with which he plays the game. Perhaps most acutely, he’s a cultural avatar. The internet meme “Tebowing” took off because it’s a readymade symbolic gesture people can use to express themselves against our scoffing, serious times. Brady is a great football player. Tebow is a great football story, and stories are immersive – they give us a chance to get involved, to see ourselves through them. Tebow’s story tees up the questions that frame many people’s lives: Is God involved? Can he help us overcome? Can he help us win? What if he stops helping us – where is God when our critics are correct, when our flaws are exposed for everyone to see? Saturday’s game will likely be the most-watched second round playoff game in NFL history. Millions will be watching because they want to see how the story will unfold, and the hero most of them will be rooting for is not the playboy, but the momma’s boy. Tebow’s faith has been the fodder for late night talk show monologues, comedy skits, and hilarious sports banter, but there is one joke that probably best represents how a LOT people actually feel about Tim Tebow. A few weeks ago, a joke made its way around Denver about Tom Brady, the New England Patriots’ living legend, and Tim Tebow, the raw Broncos quarterback who is turning in a legendary season. It went something like this: Tom Brady dies and goes to heaven and is greeted by God, who shows him to his new house – a cozy, modest home with a Patriots flag flying from the porch. “Gee, thanks God!” says Brady, feeling very special. As Brady walks to his door, he notices another house down the street – a sprawling, gorgeous home with a 50-foot pole flying a Broncos flag, a swimming pool shaped like a horse, and a Tim Tebow jersey pinned to the front door. “Um, God?” Brady begins. “I’m not ungrateful, but I don’t get it. I won three Super Bowls and went to the Hall of Fame. Why does Tim Tebow get a better house than me?” God chuckles. “That’s not Tim’s house,” he replies. “That’s mine.” So we ask you, do think that God is rooting for Tim Tebow and the Broncos??? Kelly Clarkson Performs at Allstate Fan Fest

Kelly Clarkson stepped into some serious controversy last week when she endorsed Ron Paul for President of the United States. But the singer made up for that snafu in New Orleans last night, playing a long, free set as part of the the 2012 Allstate Fan Fest, an event that preceded this evening’s Allstate Sugar Bowl between two undeserving BCS teams, Michigan and Virginia Tech. Among other hits, the first-ever American Idol belted out such singles as “Since U Been Gone,” “Stronger,” “Mr. Know It All” and “Breakaway.” Listen to a version of “You Love Me” below: Kelly Clarkson – You Love Me (Live) “Thanks New Orleans! That was fun :)” Clarkson Tweeted after the concert.

THG Presents: 12 Movies to Get Excited For in 2012!

With the lowest box office gross in 16 years, 2011 was a year the movie industry would like to forget, despite a handful of mammoth hits. Will 2012 turn things around? Time will tell, but there are no shortage of exciting films landing in theaters in the next 12 months. From action thrillers to rom-coms to ‘tween fare, 2012 has it all! That said, here’s a look at 12 movies THG is particularly excited for this year: Men in Black 3 Trailer 12. The Bourne Legacy Okay, we don’t really care about seeing this. We just want to see if President Obama slams Jeremy Renner’s performance at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. 10. What to Expect When You’re Expecting Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Glee’s Matthew Morrison make for easily the most-hyped must-see rom-com of the new year. J. Lo does it all, baby! The Avengers Movie Trailer 9. The Avengers So many of your favorite Marvel superheroes in one film? America hasn’t geeked out so hard since … every other blockbuster of the last five years. Still, awesome! 8. Paranormal Activity 4 The low-budget, high-earning franchise just got the green light for a fourth installment due out late this year, and fans can’t get enough. We need not elaborate further, especially not after the trailer (above) raised already high expectations for the LOTR prequel. 5. Rock of Ages Tom Cruise proved he’s still got his box office mojo with M:I-4 . Can that translate into success for this hair band-era epic? We’ll be raising our lighters regardless. 4. The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Badass Bane’s borderline inaudible voice. Christopher Nolan’s final chapter. The hype and subplots are building by the day. Snow White and the Huntsman Trailer 3. Snow White and the Huntsman Charlize Theron is the reason to see this Kristen Stewart vehicle, though we have high hopes for K-Stew as the title character. Only reason she’s not #1 and #2 here is …

With Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback this season, the Denver Broncos are 7-1, sitting in first place despite their signal caller’s throwing motion looking uglier than this photo of Kim Zolciak giving birth . So, what is accounting for the team’s success? A stout defense? Matt Prater nailing two 50-yard-plus field goals at the conclusion of yesterday’s 13-10 victory? Will McGahee running for nearly 100 yards every Sunday? No, no and no, says Wayne Hanson, one of Tebow’s pastors in Colorado. “It’s not luck. Luck isn’t winning 6 games in a row. It’s favor. God’s favor,” Hanson tells TMZ, adding “God has blessed his hard work” and saying there’s no way Denver would be winning games if Tebow were not such a religious man. (Sorry, John Fox. You apparently aren’t the higher power responsible for W after W.) What do you think readers? Is God rooting for the Broncos this season?
