While accepting the trophy for Best Video at the MTV EMAs last night, Miley Cyrus smoked up on stage. But viewers who tuned in to watch this broadcast in the United State will need to take our word for it… because domestic stations censored the act, switching to shots of the audience when Miley lit her joint for all to see. Still not convinced the ’90s are back ? Then how’s this for ya: the 20-year cultural cycle is in full effect over at ABC as Madonna ‘s racy new perfume ad stirs up controversy with censors. The 30-second clip sees the 53-year-old pop diva reviving one of her sexiest looks: the B&W T&A she sported in the nude documentary Truth or Dare (1991) and her softcore Sex book, which was released…exactly twenty years ago, actually. But just because she isn’t actually nude in the clip doesn’t mean it’s ready for primetime. ABC rejected the ad for broadcast, recalling MTV’s banning of her Justify My Love video back in 1991: “ABC viewed the ad [and] came back with a list of changes. They say they want her bra digitally made bigger, and to extend higher to cover more of her chest, and her corset longer to cover more of her bottom. ABC also wants to cut another suggestive scene where Madonna writhes around.” Madonna’s “Truth or Dare” ad is too hot for primetime, but not for Mr. Skin…watch it after the jump!

We’ve got no love lost for the MPAA here at Skin Central, but at least they let us see some furburger (or a merkin, as the case may be) every once in a while. Let’s not beat around the bush (heh): the Japanese have a pube problem. The country has long been saddled with a self-imposed ban on pubic hair , and bush is usually blurred out in both mainstream films and porno. Yes, even porno. No, we don’t know how they survive. So it’s no surprise that Rooney Mara’s full-frontal scenes in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) ruffled the Japanese censors (the fact that Rooney was actually wearing a merkin didn’t help). In the end, they allowed the film to debut in Japan with its provocative skin scenes intact but with, as The Hollywood Reporter puts it, ” some mosaic-blurring of the kind that graces even pornographic films in Japan. ” Still, that’s better than the plight of Indian move-goers, who won’t be able to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at all in their home country. The Indian Central Board of Film Certification rejected the film outright after director David Fincher refused to cut three nude scenes that are central to the plot, canceling its scheduled February 10 debut in India. I actually watched the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last night while enjoying a few golden lagers, and I’ve got to say I was a little disappointed. Not with all the hotness, I was in a constant semi-erect state throughout the entire thing, but with the censorship. Apparently here in North America we’re all such prudes that we can’t even look at a woman’s butt on television. CBS actually blurred them out. And these weren’t giant Wal*Mart shopper butts either, these were some of the best asses the world has to offer. It was ridiculous. Especially because they had a whole segment of the show where the girls showed off pictures of themselves as children wearing bikinis or going topless. So half naked children is alright, but the bottom of a grown woman’s ass cheeks is unacceptable. Are we all a bunch of morons now? What’s happen to us? Ok, so no one doffed their top in the judge’s chambers. But the 3rd U.S. Court of Appeals in Philadelphia did take a fine-toothed comb today to the FCC decision fining CBS $550,000 for the exposure of Janet Jackson ‘s suckle stalk. Ruling 2-1, the court declared that while the FCC does have the authority to crack down on “indecent images” like Janet’s milk nozzle, the commission acted unfairly by changing its policy towards nippage after the slippage fact and thus the fine was issued in error. In case you were in a coma in 2004, Janet’s top “malfunctioned” during a Super Bowl halftime performance with Justin Timberlake , causing one bejeweled baby button to be briefly exposed on national television. While Mr. Skin was delighted, legions of killjoys were not, and the “Nipplegate” (sk)incident led to a widespread crackdown on nip slips, raunchy song lyrics, sexually suggestive storylines, and everything else that makes network TV worth watching.
