BMI Drops Kim Burrell From Gospel Honors Over Anti-Gay Rant

Kim Burrell Cut From BMI Gospel Celebration It’s looking like Kim Burrell isn’t about to be welcomed anywhere but that pulpit where she declared death on homosexuals a few weeks back, because more and more people are distancing themselves from her. After already getting dropped from multiple appearances and even losing her radio show…even more L’s are coming her way. In an official statement, BMI announced that they have formally dropped Kim from their upcoming celebration of gospel, since they are an inclusive organization, and Burrell’s views are clearly not in line with that message… BMI’s Trailblazers of Gospel Music is an annual celebration of gospel music and its many talented songwriters. Given the controversy surrounding this year’s co-honoree Kim Burrell, we have asked her to not take part in the ceremony in order to allow the focus to remain on the songwriters and their music. BMI was founded over 76 years ago with an open door policy to welcome songwriters across all genres, and that same spirit of tolerance, diversity and inclusiveness continues today. WELP. But hey, despite all the backlash, Kim seems set and comfortable with sticking to her statements. We guess holding on to her hateful rhetoric is worth more than those checks to her… Instagram

There was a time when it looked as though Hurricane Matthew would force Maci and Taylor to postpone the ceremony , but miraculously, the weather cooperated and the nuptials went off without a hitch. Jada Pinkett Smith Boycott Oscars Video You won’t be finding Jada Pinkett Smith on the Oscars red carpet or at home watching the ceremony either. After questioning whether or not people of color should boycott the show over the weekend, Jada doubled down on her statements with a new Facebook video detailing why it’s time for black folks “to do us, differently.” Jada says we’re too powerful and too dignified to be begging the academy for acknowledgement and that it’s time to pool our resources together and look at ourselves the way we’re asking mainstream to look at us. Do you agree with Jada’s comments? Is it time to stop laughing and actually pay attention to black-centric award shows like BET, NAACP, etc or should we continue fighting for seats at mainstream’s table?

Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth: The AMA Makeout Session!

Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth took to the stage at the 2015 American Music Awards and performed their hit song “Marvin Gaye.” But it wasn't the duo's dancing or its note-hitting that got the attention of all who tuned in for this ceremony on ABC. It was their spit-swapping! At one point during the duet, Trainor called Puth over and the game of tonsil hockey began. But this wasn’t just a short little smooth. There were open mouths. There was clearly tongue. There was Puth grabbing his partner’s rear end, which was clad in a painted-on glittery sheath dress. There was serious hotness attached to this makeout session. It wasn't even that Puth and Trainor had never kissed before: an outtake of their previously intense on-stage smooch made the viral rounds back in August after the release of Puth's video for “Marvin Gaye.” What made this kiss so memorable, however, was its passion… and its duration.. Following the embrace, Luke Bryan won the American Music Awards for Favorite Male Country Artist. Unsure how to follow the love birds' act, Bryan remarked: “I'm still laughing at that Charlie and Meghan getting it on with a little smooch. It kept rolling after the commercial break.” HA!
