Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn to Star in True Detective Season 2!

It’s an exciting day for fans or eerie crime drama and boozy, philosophical bromances. After months of rumors we’ve finally learned that the second season of HBO’s acclaimed cop anthology True Detective will star Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in two of the lead roles. If it feels as though time is a flat circle and you’ve heard all this before, well you may have: Farrell was cast way back in June, but kept the role under his hat until yesterday. Naturally, rumors abounded on the web, regardless. Similarly, we reported in August  Vaughn would star in season 2 , but motor-mouth Vince had been uncharacteristically tight-lipped prior to confirming the news today. According to the the network’s description of the new season, Farrell and Vaughn won’t be partnered up on an investigation a la McConaughey and Harrelson, but will instead play a veteran cop and a career criminal, respectively. Also, unlike the first season, the second iteration of TD will reportedly be more of an ensemble drama will one of the lead investigator roles being played by a woman. Sadly, it looks as though the second season will not include any of the hilarious casting combos in the gallery below, nor any  Alexandra Daddario nude scenes . Worse, the series is tentatively scheduled for summer of 2015. Fortunately, you can watch True Detective online at TV Fanatic to hold you over until then. So grab a sixer of Lone Stars and your notebook full of Yellow King theories, because this is one series that definitely stands up to multiple viewings. True Detective Season 2: Who Should Star? 1. Colin Farrell to Star in True Detective Season Two?

True Detective was a surprise runaway hit for HBO, and the 2014 Emmy nominations indicate that the show is just as popular with the Academy as it was with viewers. Naturally, there’s a lot of pressure on showrunner Nic Pizzolatto to deliver again in season 2, and the show’s one-and-done anthology format means that acclaimed stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson won’t be returning for a second go-round. So who will fill the (probably gritty, psychologically complex) voice in the show’s second season? Well, rumors that Jessica Chastain will join True Detective were shot down months ago, and no new casting information was leaked until today.  According to unconfirmed reports, it now looks as though Irish actor Colin Farrell will continue the show’s tradition of transplanting big screen stars to the world of premium cable. The series will feature an entirely new setting and storyline for season 2, so there’s no telling if Farrell will be drinking heavily and vocally contemplating the nature of existence a la McConaughey in season one. (Read: that’s totally what he’s gonna do.) Early reports indicate that TD will feature three leads this time around, and there’s no word yet on what probably A-list stars will join Farrell. Sadly, the cast shake-up means there will be no more Alexandra Daddario nude scenes . To re-live those, you’ll have to watch True Detective online at TV Fanatic. Prayers go out to his family. “Free Willy” Actor August Schellenberg Dead At 77 According to TMZ August Schellenberg — who played Jesse’s Native American mentor in “Free Willy” — has died Thursday in Texas after a long battle with cancer … TMZ has learned. Schellenberg’s family tells TMZ … August died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. 77-year-old Schellenberg had a long and storied career in Hollywood — often playing Native American characters. In fact, he was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role as Chief Sitting Bull in “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.” August appeared in all 3 “Free Willy” movies. He also appeared alongside Christian Bale and Colin Farrell in the 2005 flick, “The New World.” At least he passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. Getty

According to the new issue of Star , the singer – currently taking a break from The Voice – is nearly done with her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, Matthew Rutler. “Their relationship is convenient. It was always casual, very on and off, and not something Christina saw a future in,” an insider tells the tabloid. So, where will Aguilera goes when she breaks it off with this relative no-name? “She’s wasting no time setting her sights on a number of eligible bachelors,” claims the source, adding that Aguilera “wants an A-list boyfriend to complement her newfound confidence.” With a hot music career, “all that’s missing is a hot, headline-stealing man on her arm,” concludes the mole, saying Xtine even have two names picked out: “Colin Farrell and Jared Leto.” Someone should tell her that Justin Bieber is single. Colin Farrell attended the Eighth Annual Irish-American Alliance “Oscar Wilde: Honouring the Irish in Film” party at JJ Abram’s Bad Robot Productions in Santa Monica last night. The Ireland native was honored for his contributions to the film industry and for helping to strengthen the Irish-American bond. On the green carpet, Colin talked about what receiving the honor meant to him, discussed who he wants to see win at Sunday’s Academy Awards and joked about plunging into New York’s icy-cold East River for a scene in his upcoming film “A Winter’s Tale.”

Jessica Chastain Eyes Liv Ullmann ‘Miss Julie’

Jessica Chastain is riding high with her critically acclaimed Oscar-nominated performance in Zero Dark Thirty , but her next gig may be a bit of an about-face from her role at the center of covert operations to snuff out Bin Laden. Chastain will star in a film adaptation of August Strindberg’s play Miss Julie , which will be directed by Swedish actor-director Liv Ullmann . Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton will also star in the film, according to The Guardian. Written in 1888, Miss Julie helped pave the way in utilizing theatrical naturalism in telling its story of class and power. The story revolves around the daughter of a count who falls for her father’s footman. Originally set at a Swedish country house in 1874, it is unclear if Ullmann will set the movie version of the story there or if she’ll pick a different period and locale. The last major adaptation of the play was a Mike Figgis-directed version which starred Saffron Burrows and Peter Mullan as the leads. Ullmann starred in ten of legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman’s movies and took up directing in the 1992 family drama Sophie . Miss Julie will be her fourth feature, though her last film, Faithless was released in 2000. [Source: The Guardian ]
