Rapper Nicki Minaj was allegedly involved in an altercation at an upscale luxury hotel in Dallas, Texas. According to TMZ, the rapper told authorities she was “struck” in the lower lip by a man during a heated argument. The Barbie doll rapper got into it with an unidentified man whom she was staying with. The verbal argument escalated by the pool, with Nicki telling hotel staff to call police while the man retreated to their room. Minaj followed after him soon after. Once in the room, its alleged that the argument further escalated and became violent, and she claims the man hit her in her lower lip. The man, who left the scene before cops arrived, will not face charges as Minaj says she does not wish to pursue the matter although the cops did file an incident report. While in Berlin promoting his new headphone line Chambers by Rza, the Wu producer told MTV News that he has given beats to a number of hip-hop artists, including Nas, Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, as well as his cousin and Wu-partner GZA for his Liquid Swords 2 album. “Me and GZA talked about doing Liquid Swords part 2, a sequel. We talked about it for a while,” RZA said about the follow-up to GZA’s 1996 album. “We actually started a little and then we pulled back based on scheduling, based on my movie.” RZA’s love affair with Hollywood is no secret. As an actor, Bobby Digital has appeared in “American Gangster” alongside Russell Crowe and has recently been cast in “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.” RZA has also been hard at work directing “The Man With the Iron Fists,” a movie set in feudal China which will star Russell Crowe, Pam Grier and Lucy Liu. “The movie has taken me out of the loop of music. But what I have been doing, I’ve been going to studios and inviting people to my studio. So I went to the studio with Luda and I emptied beats from my beat machine for him. Whether he use it or not is up to him, but I just been emptying out my beat machines,” RZA said before revealing more of his collaborative hopefuls. “I emptied out some beats on Busta, I emptied out some beats on Nas, emptied out some beats for [Ghostface Killah] and for Wu-Tang Clan — just sent them 20 beats a few weeks ago.” Though he is very passionate about making movies at the moment, RZA knows music is what got him where he is today. “I really want to put a lot of my energy into film, but I know that I got here because of music and I know people dig my music. And I’m like, ‘Why not put the music out there too?’ ” Judging from his activity, it is a safe bet that fans can hear a lot of new RZA music in the near future, but anyone expecting to hear collaborations between the producer and his cousin, the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the Abbot does confirm that he has plenty of unreleased Ol’ Dirty material, releasing those tunes are quite difficult. “That’s a very tricky situation, because ODB has passed and he has an estate,” he said. “When you got an estate, it’s so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with. I tried to put out a song last year called ‘Dirt’s the Boogie,’ and they threatened me with an injunction and I wrote the lyrics to the song. Made the beat, wrote the lyrics and Dirty just performed it.” Instead of holding onto the work, though, RZA is contemplating leaving the unheard recordings to Dirty’s son when the time is right. “I will tell the fans, I do have a few 2-inch reels of material nobody has but me. I was very nervous because I could not answer the call and my friend would not stop calling. I thought my friend had news about Justin’s visit, but never in my wildest dreams would have dreamed of news that she gave me . I made up one of the best excuses for the teacher to let me out of class (I study drama so it helped me) I left class and called my friend back. I went to class with tears in his eyes. Certainly not the case, but felt as if everyone was watching me. Nicki Minaj’s cousin was killed yesterday in Brooklyn, New York. The rapper announced the news on Twitter with no details as to how or why the murder happened. However, Radar Online is reporting that Nicholas Telemaque, 27, was shot to death and that they believe it could be a case of ‘mistaken identity.’ His cousin Carol Clarke said, “He was shot in the chest as he walked towards his car close to his home. Nicki is absolutely devastated as are all our family – she was very close to her cousin but now he has gone. She has reached out to Nicholas’ mom Victoria to offer her words of comfort but she is too distraught. The fun all started when I was browsing around, looking at all my friends on Facebook when I came across an old au-pair (nanny) of mine and I remembered she used to live in Canada. I clicked on her friends and searched Carin (Scooter’s girlfriend) and she had her on Facebook. I freaked out and told my dad because my au-pair was somehow connected to my old next door neighbor in South Africa. When I asked my au-pair how she knew Carin, she said that my neighbor was Carin’s brother so then again I freaked out. I got my dad to call my neighbor- as he lived in South Africa and we had moved to Sydney, Australia and my dad asked if there was anyway that he could organize a meet and greet for us at Justin’s concert in Sydney, Australia on the 28th April. He said he would try make a plan as it just so happened he was going to meet Justin, Carin and Scooter in Israel the next day. He replied and said he could get 3 passes for meet and greet. I was literally in tears and decided to take my sister and my cousin. The day of Justin’s concert, there was school so my cousin, sister and I went. We could hardly concentrate because we were so excited. When we walked in to get a photo, I was shaking. I walked in and saw him standing there hugging Carin. I freaked out and it was such a blur. Music , he got his start as an affiliate of iconic hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, appearing on four of the 15 tracks on the group’s 1996 album Beats, Rhymes and Life. These days, Cons is on the outs with Q-Tip. He was critical of the way the ATCQ frontman aired out his grievances with Michael Rapaport’s Tribe documentary “Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest.” “I was really disappointed in my cousin when he came up here and he had the email,” Cons said of the email Q-Tip printed out and brought up to “RapFix Live” in March. The email, which was accidentally sent to Tip by one of the documentary’s producers, indicated that there was a plan to cheat ATCQ out of getting producer credits on the film. “Man, you’re a superstar. Consequence also questioned what all the dissention would ultimately do to A Tribe Called Quest’s legacy. He pointed to the fact that the rap group was not on a unified front. Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez will help usher in the return of the Billboard Music Awards. Though the ceremony was cancelled in 2007, it will now air live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on May 22nd via ABC. The Billboard Music Awards honors those acts who excelled on the Billboard charts during the period of February 28th 2010 through March 1st 2011. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is Paltrow’s cousin. By Gil Kaufman Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images The nation is in shock from the tragic shooting spree that took the lives of six people in Arizona on Saturday after a gunman attacked U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords outside a supermarket, shooting the Democratic House member in the head. Giffords remains in critical condition after the assault by troubled 22-year-old Jared L. Loughner, who is in police custody and has been charged with five federal counts, including the attempted assassination of a member of Congress. In total, 20 people were injured during the shooting spree and while Giffords’ wounds are considered extremely dangerous, her doctors have expressed reserved optimism that she may survive. The victims of the violence have an unexpected connection to the entertainment world. “Entertainment Tonight” reported that Giffords, 40, is the cousin of actress Gwyneth Paltrow. A representative for Paltrow released a statement about the incident, in which the star said, “Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting congresswoman Giffords, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family as well as the other victims of this horrible act of senseless violence.” Actress Sophia Bush was also related to one of the victims, 9-year-old Christina Green, who was the second cousin of the “One Tree Hill” star. Green, who was born on September 11, 2001 and who had developed an interest in politics, was Bush’s second cousin. The actress posted a series of tweets on Sunday decrying the violence that took her cousin’s life. “There are no words to explain what my cousin’s family is going through in Arizona,” she wrote. “How can this be? Violence is never the answer.” Bush also encouraged anyone who knows somebody struggling with mental illness to lend a hand. “If you know anyone who is struggling, please reach out to them,” she added. “No one should feel so alone that they resort to senseless violence.” Green, who appeared in a book called “50 Faces of Hope” that profiled children born on the day of the September 11 attacks, had recently joined the student council at her grade school and attended the event for Giffords because of her budding interest in politics. “We got robbed, she got robbed of a beautiful life she could have had,” mother Roxanna Green told CNN. President Obama has called for a national moment of silence on Monday at 11 a.m. in honor of the victims in the shooting.
