Justin Bieber Graduates From High School

‘I just finished high school,’ says Bieber. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News When most kids are getting ready to graduate from high school, the biggest worry on their mind is what college they’re going to go to or finding a job. Justin Bieber , of course, is not the average high schooler. And yet, in between releasing multi-platinum albums, touring the globe, renting out the Staples Center for dates with his sweetie
and hanging out in the studio with Kanye West
, Bieber has also managed to stay on top of his studies. “I just finished high school,” Bieber recently told England’s Daily Telegraph . “I passed my test – I’m free! It was hard doing school and work every day.” Amid all the globe-trotting and studio sessions, Bieber kept his eye on the prize because, well, he’s a good boy and he’d promised his mother that he would. “That was something my mom really wanted me to do, so I had to do it for her,” said Bieber, 18. “I mean, this kind of lifestyle has given me a different perspective on life. I’ve been able to travel the world. At school, usually you have to do a lot of writing and reading. I’m really not into that stuff. I like to be out there.” Bieber can clearly buy himself anything he wants as a graduation gift — he already has a batmobile — but his fans have already given him the biggest prize of all: another huge hit. When the video
for his new single, “Boyfriend,” debuted last week it sent a single-day record
on YouTube when it racked up 8 million views within 24 hours. As of press time the clip had been seen more than 19.5 million times. Related Videos Frame By Frame: Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ MTV First: Justin Bieber Related Photos The Evolution Of: Justin Bieber Related Artists Justin Bieber

Elsewhere In The World: Swedish Man Survives Two Months In Snow-Buried Car

Wow. A Swedish man was being treated in hospital Sunday after being dug out alive from his snow-buried car in which he had survived for two months with no food, according to police and local media. The 45-year-old from southern Sweden was found on Friday, emaciated and too weak to utter more than a few words. The BBC reported the temperature in the area had recently dropped to -22F (-30C). He was found not far from the city of Umea in the north of Sweden by snowmobilers who thought they had come across a car wreck until they dug their way to a window and saw movement inside. The man, who was laying in the back seat in a sleeping bag, said he had been in the car since December 19. “Just incredible that he’s alive considering that he had no food, but also since it’s been really cold for some time after Christmas,” a rescue team member told regional daily Vasterbottens-Kuriren, which broke the news. The Daily Telegraph reported that the man appeared to have survived on melted snow. Amazing that he survived. Source , Reuters

Has Kate Middleton Lost Too Much Weight?

“It’s like some sort of dark fairytale. A beautiful young woman marries the heir to the throne and starts to get thinner and thinner. Until one day we look and she’s not there at all.” – The Belfast (UK) Daily Telegraph It’s no secret that Kate Middleton looks thinner than in years past. But the trend – real or perceived – has become a cause for alarm to many royal watchers. Should we be worried that Kate is too thin ? Kate Middleton this summer (left) and in 2009 . Reports that she is being held up as a role model on pro-anorexia websites – there scarily are such things – has turned the spotlight on her weight more than ever. Observers reckon that the young woman who was once a healthy size 10-12 is now a UK size 4 – or, as it’s known in the US, Size 0 – though this is not confirmed. There is no doubt that Duchess Catherine has not “always been” as slender as she is now, but is it cause for concern? Or just tabloids looking to stir up drama? What do you think: Is Kate Middleton too thin?

Does More Internet Porn Lead To More Sex Crimes?

According to a group of psychologists, the internet is making freaky fetishes and fantasies seem a lot more normal… which is putting more women in danger. Researchers now believe there is a ‘causal link’ between the rise in explicit images available online and an increase extreme illegal behaviour in real life. According to experts, the internet is allowing like-minded people to share explicit and violent sexual fantasies, therefore making them more acceptable. The findings are based on research conducted by Dr Tim Jones, senior lecturer in cognitive psychology at Worcester University as well as top psychologists such as criminologist Professor David Wilson from Birmingham City University. They also point to the rise images of child pornography available on the internet. The Greater Manchester police obscene publications unit has seen a staggering leap in the number of illicit images seized. In 1995, they seized around dozen images of child pornography, rising to over 41,000 in 1999, and by 2001, the unit was so overwhelmed with the number of images that they stopped counting. Dr Jones told the Daily Telegraph: ‘The internet is fuelling more extreme fantasies and the danger is that they could be played out in real life’. Do you agree? Source

Miley Cyrus Slams “Friday” Singer Rebecca Black

Miley Cyrus worked hard to become the teen sensation she is today — and she seems a little bitter about Rebecca Black ‘s overnight success. Never mind that Black, 13, became famous because of her so-bad-it’s-good vanity single “Friday.” That song has now spent two weeks climbing the Billboard Top 100 — meaning that tens of thousands of people like it enough to buy it. But it’s safe to say that Cyrus, 18, isn’t one of them. “It should be harder to be an artist,” Cyrus told the Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph when asked about Black’s viral success. “You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour.” Since Cyrus essentially sacrificed her teen years to Disney in exchange for stardom, we understand why she’d harbor some resentment towards Black. And yet, they’re not exactly in competition. Miley is an established performer and recording artist with legions of fans. Black is a semi-talented kid who struck gold, and that’s exactly her appeal: Tween girls who aren’t as gifted or photogenic as Cyrus can look at Rebecca Black and say, “I could do that!” Miley clearly has the long-term advantage — so maybe she should back off and let Rebecca Black enjoy her 15 minutes. Even without Miley in her court, Black is getting a lot of love these days. Her brand-new official Twitter account has nearly 80,000 followers. Her video is approaching 7 million YouTube views. And after Justin Bieber jokingly performed “Friday” at a recent concert , Black fans started a petition to convince Bieber to sing a duet with her. Right now it’s only got 1200 signatures — but you know that if Justin Bieber takes advice from anyone (besides his “swagger coach”), it’ll be from his fans. Never say never, right? Who Will Design Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress?

Sorry, Phillipa Lepley . A new name has emerged as the leading contender to design Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. Now London’s Sunday Times and Daily Telegraph are both reporting that Sarah Burton (from the house of Alexander McQueen) has earned the honor. “The design of the dress [will] be a combination of Miss Middleton’s own ideas and Mrs Burton’s quirky interpretation of high fashion,” states the Telegraph , adding that Burton was “chosen for the discretion afforded by her relatively low profile, as well as for her alternative take on elegance.”

NASA scientists braced for ‘solar tsunami’ to hit earth

The earth could be hit by a wave of violent space weather as early as Tuesday after a massive explosion of the sun, scientists have warned. The solar fireworks at the weekend were recorded by several satellites, including Nasa’s new Solar Dynamics Observatory which watched its shock wave rippling outwards. Astronomers from all over the world witnessed the huge flare above a giant sunspot the size of the Earth, which they linked to an even larger eruption across the surface of Sun. The explosion was aimed directly towards Earth, which then sent a “solar tsunami” racing 93 million miles across space. Images from the SDO hint at a shock wave travelling from the flare into space, the New Scientist reported. Experts said the wave of supercharged gas will likely reach the Earth on Tuesday, when it will buffet the natural magnetic shield protecting Earth. It is likely to spark spectacular displays of the aurora or northern and southern lights. Scientists have warned that a really big solar eruption could destroy satellites and wreck power and communications grids around the globe if it happened today. Nasa recently warned that Britain could face widespread power blackouts and be left without critical communication signals for long periods of time, after the earth is hit by a once-in-a-generation “space storm”. The Daily Telegraph disclosed in June that senior space agency scientists believed the Earth will be hit with unprecedented levels of magnetic energy from solar flares after the Sun wakes “from a deep slumber” sometime around 2013. Dr Lucie Green, of the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, Surrey, followed the flare-ups using Japan's orbiting Hinode telescope. It remains unclear, however, how much damage this latest eruption will cause the world’s communication tools. “It looks like the first eruption was so large that it changed the magnetic fields throughout half the Sun's visible atmosphere and provided the right conditions for the second eruption. “Both eruptions could be Earth-directed but may be travelling at different speeds. “This means we have a very good chance of seeing major and prolonged effects, such as the northern lights at low latitudes.” A Nasa spokesman was unavailable for comment. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7923069/Nasa-scientists-braced-for-sola… added by: slagface

Flying Car a Step Closer to Reality

Weird-looking cars are a dime a dozen. Far less common are weird-looking cars that can also fly AND have approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. Indeed, as far as we know, there's only one of those babies: The Terrafugia Transition. The private aircraft/funky-looking car has been in the news before. But the recent announcement that it's going into production sparked mega-searches on the Web. Almost immediately, online lookups for “terrafugia transition” and “terrafugia transition pictures” both, well, took off. A popular article from the UK's Daily Telegraph explains that the FAA's special exemption allows the vehicle to function as both a “light aircraft” and a car. Normally, for a plane to meet the “light aircraft” designation, it can weigh no more than 1,200 pounds. The Terrafugia Transition weighs 1,320, due primarily to the number of car-related safety features, like airbags and crumple zones. The “light aircraft” designation is key, because licenses for planes with that label require only 20 hours of flying time. Fewer hoops to jump through means more potential sales. So, how does the plane/car work? Check out the flying car's official video below. So far, 70 people have placed a deposit. The total retail cost: $194,000. Expensive, but really, can you put a price on skipping commercial flights? Link to comments—- http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/93804?fp=1 added by: remanns
