Source: Morgan Lieberman / Getty Geoffrey Owens Claps Back At Haters At SAG Awards Actor Geoffrey Owens was the unfortunate victim if the uncouth internet last September when some a$$hole thought it hilarious to film him bagging up work at Trader Joe’s to make ends meet. Fast forward to 2019 and Owens has been showered with employment opportunity and applause for the classy way that he handled his very public shaming. Last night Owens attended the SAG awards where he received more applause and ample opportunity to verbally extend his middle finger to those who thought him the butt of their jokes. Today, TMZ caught up with Owens to talk about what the moment meant to him and how his life has changed over the last four months. God bless Geoffrey Owens, but “unsweetened apple sauce”?

Forgive the most obvious pun in the history of writing, but it simply must be done. And here it goes: Mike Sorrentino officially finds himself in a bad situation. As sorry as we are for going there, we’re guessing this Jersey Shore mainstay is even more sorry at the moment for having not paid his taxes back in the day. He has been sentenced to eight months in jail as a result. The MTV personality and his brother Marc were indicted in September 2014. Then, in January of this year, they pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion and actually faced a five-year prison sentence. (Marc was sentenced to 24 months in prison on Friday.) Fast forward seven days to this morning and The Situation was accompanied to the courthouse by fiancee Lauren Pesce. All the familiar Jersey Shore names — Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Guadagnino, Pauly “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio and Angelina Pivarnick — were all spotted on the scene as well. So Sorrentino at least had plenty of support when he learned his fate. On top of the eight-month prison sentence, Mike must also complete 500 hours of community service and was given $123,913 in restitution already paid, plus a fine of $10,000 that must be paid within 30 days. The day before the sentencing, Snooki told Us Weekly that the cast was “hoping for the best,” adding of The Situation: “He’s just such a good person. He changed for the better. He’s a totally different person. He doesn’t deserve this right now, but obviously you gotta get that done.” Sorrentio and Pesce are allegedly planning a prison wedding at some point within the next year, as Mike tries to give himself something positive to look forward to in light of this news. In pre-sentencing memos obtained by the Associated Press yesterday, Sorrentino’s lawyer argued he should receive probation, stating that the MTV star played a minimal role in the supposed financial conspiracy … … and has worked diligently to overcome substance abuse in the time since his arrest. Conversely, prosecutors asked for a jail sentence of 14 months, arguing that such time would send the message that “tax fraud will be met with real punishment.” They also noted that Sorrentino’s substance addiction didn’t stop him from structuring cash deposits to avoid government scrutiny. Sorrentino has been to rehab on two occasions to try and overcome this addiction. Earlier this year, he told People Magazine that he has “worked so hard to turn my life around and be the best person I can be,” adding the following of appearing on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 2. “I had a very strong foundation for my recovery with over two years [sober] when I entered the house. “But I did have to challenge myself to go out and film a whole season of Jersey Shore and have fun without alcohol — to show the youth out there that it is possible.” The Situation’s status for Season 3 of this reality show revival is unknown right now. But it isn’t looking good.
Just days before Felicity Vuolo’s two month “birthday,” Jeremy and Jinger are taking to social media and gushing over their baby. Fans had expressed concerns about the precious infant’s health in recent photos. But as fans can see, little Felicity is all smiles. In the absolutely precious photo that you’re about to see, a grinning Jeremy Vuolo gazes warmly into the eyes of his infant daughter. Baby Felicity lays on her back and smiles up at him. According to the captions, this is a very common occurrence these days. Jeremy writes: “She’s all smiles these days.” This is a truly touching and beautiful family photo. Take a look: Felicity was born in July, as Jeremy and Jinger shared on the family website. “God is so kind!” the post gushed. “Jinger gave birth to Felicity Nicole Vuolo this morning at 4:37 am.” And then they laid out her stats: “Felicity weighs 8lbs. and 3oz. and is 19.5 inches long.” “Both mom and baby are healthy, doing great, and resting well,” they shared. The post concluded: “We are very thankful for her safe arrival and look forward to life as parents” Felicity will be two months old on September 19! Babies grow up so quickly, and the couple’s fans and followers are happy to see pictures. Of course, a recent photo of Felicity Vuolo raised concern among fans . They looked at the adorable baby girla nd perceived that she looked “blue,” which could indicate a problem with circulation or oxygenation. A number of fans shared these genuine worries in the captions, not to be hateful, but simply out of alarm. Fortunately, it looks like Felicity remains happy and healthy. Perhaps what followers perceived was merely a trick of the lighting? After Jeremy and Jinger shared the name of their young daughter, some were puzzled over its meaning. (And no, it is not a reference to a Keri Russell character) While you might not expect hardcore Christians like these two to name their daughter after a Roman deity (Felicitas), they explained that they named her after “a young Christian girl who lived long ago.” That is a clear reference to Saint Felicitas, a young Christian woman who was martyred alongside Saint Perpetua in the Third Century in Carthage. The Vuolos are not Catholic, but clearly they felt a connection to Felicitas’ religious convictions. More to the point, however, Jinger and Jeremy explained that the name simply “felt right.” It is wonderful that Felicity smiles so much. Babies are not generally capable of giving a full smile when first born — it is a skill that they develop. But smiling is a great indicator that Felicity is successfully bonding with Jeremy and with Jinger, expressing a rush of excitement when she sees her parents. Babies can be grumpy and they can cry, which is also normal and healthy, but it’s always good to see a baby smile. Let’s hope that she continues to smile — if Jinger and Jeremy prove to be better parents than anyone in Jinger’s terrifying family. We’re less than four months away from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding , and royal obsessives are already giddy with the anticipation of waking up at 4 am to watch two strangers say “I do.” As with all royal matters, the details of the planning process are being kept under lock and key, but it’s safe to say that Harry and Meghan’s reception will be as non-traditional as their relationship. In all likelihood, the ceremony will bow to custom, but it seems that after the vows are exchanged, Meghan is planning to let her hair down. (Not literally, of course. Her updo will probably cost more than your car.) We’ve already learned of various ways in which Meghan and Harry are planning to buck tradition. For example, the couple reportedly plans to invite Cressida Bonas , one of Harry’s most high-profile exes, to the ceremony. Not a big deal for most of us, but the sort of thing that results in widespread pearl-clutching in royal circles. But Cressida’s presence will probably go mostly unnoticed by the massive international TV audience. What reportedly has royal handlers far more concerned is the possibility that Meghan might … speak at her own wedding! Yes, insiders say the actress is planning to give a toast in which she’ll thank all those who have helped ease her transition from peasant to royal. She’ll apparently close by addressing Harry in an “affectionate” fashion. Since royals are basically forbidden to display any sort of emotion in public, this is apparently a big deal. According to tradition, men are allowed to give toasts at royal weddings, but women are just supposed to sit there and look pretty. “Historically at a royal wedding reception, the bride’s father would speak on her behalf, and the other speeches are reserved for the groom and the best man,” wedding etiquette expert Amber Harrison tells Huffington Post. Harrison adds that if she does decide to give a speech, Meghan will be “breaking centuries of royal tradition.” “It is more common for an American bride to give a toast or make a speech at her wedding reception,” says Anne Chertoff, another wedding specialist. “Since Meghan is an American it’s highly likely that she may make a toast or speech at her wedding reception, which will widely be received in a positive and wonderful way.” We don’t know what’s more shocking – that the royals still observe such an outdated tradition or that multiple people identify as professional wedding experts. We get the feeling that you’ll be hearing a lot from these “specialists” in the months to come. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: The Raciest Pics of Prince Harry’s Bride-To-Be
We're only five days into the new year, but 2018 has already seen a Duggar baby announcement and a whole slew of courship speculation. We now know that Jinger Duggar is expecting her first child , but that's certainly not the only way in which reality TV's largest family will be expanding in the months to come. Joy-Anna Duggar is also expecting, as is Joseph Duggar's new wife, Kendra Caldwell. And of course, several single Duggars are set to embark on courtship journeys of their own in the months to come. Here's a rundown of who might be next to leave the nest: 1. Jana Duggar The perennial fan favorite. Fans have been hoping for a courtship announcement from Jana for years now. And thanks to her increasingly close “friendship” with Caleb Williams, it seems 2018 will finally be her year. 2. John David Duggar This is another one that wouldn’t come as much of a surprise. In fact, it’s widely believed that John David is already involved in a secret courtship with a woman from Texas. No word on why he might be keeping things on the down-low. 3. The Pressure Is On! Both Jana and John David are no doubt feeling the pressure to announce relationships. The twins will turn 28 this month, and they’re the oldest unmarried Duggars by a considerable margin. 4. Josiah Duggar Many fans believe this is the year that Josiah Duggar will once again try his hand at courtship. Josiah is the only member of his family to enter a relationship that did not result in marriage, having pursued an ill-fated romance with Marjorie Jackson in 2016. 5. A Social Media Loophole Some fans believe Josiah is the next to go a-courtin’, as in many respects, he’s more modern and mature than many of his siblings. Duggars are typically forbidden to have social media accounts until they enter a formal courtship. However, Josiah has maintained an Instagram page despite the fact that his relationship with Jackson has come to en end, leading many to believe that he’s using it to keep in touch with potential mates. 6. Jedediah Duggar Smart money is on Jedediah Duggar announcing a courship in 2018. As many fans have pointed out, he was likely already involved in a romantic relationship that went awry. I woke up ready to write about the reconciliation between formerly estranged friends Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas. The video of their tearful hug popped up on social media and I thought it would be the thing that gave me the biggest emotional reaction of the day. Then news broke that Combat Jack died. Combat Jack, real name Reggie Osse, is an icon. His start as an attorney for early Jay-Z and Noreagaa gave way to writing about Hip-Hop and eventually launching a podcast network that put black voices at the forefront. Combat has always been and will always be known as one of those people who only cared about helping others and doing what he can to better people’s lives. The “take his shirt off of his back” cliche goes around when people pass, but it was absolutely true about Combat. The last time I saw Combat was A3C here in Atlanta. We’d known each other for years and kept in touch mostly through social media, bumping into one another on occasion. The conversation we had at A3C took me by surprise. He gave me a pep talk about my writing, my life and purpose. He spoke with his patented enthusiasm and intensity that’s only genuine. The talk boosted my confidence and sense of purpose. I went home and woke my wife up to tell her what Combat said to me. I’ve thought about that conversation a lot in the last couple of months and I understand why Combat spoke with so much passion: he cared so much about black people being as vocal as possible. He wanted our voices heard and dedicated his life to it. I’ve found myself reaching two months into the past trying to hold on to that moment again, wanting to relive it more vividly with each passing minute. So when our conversation ended, we dapped up and gave the generic phrase that doesn’t seem so generic anymore: “it’s all love.” Love. Combat is at the front of my mind but I still can’t help but think about Magic and Isiah. Because it’s all about the power of love. Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas used to be best friends. They came up in the NBA together in the 80s, dreaming of greatness. They used to embrace before each game and celebrate one another even as competitors. They defied the silly masculine notions that opponents had to have nasty attitudes towards one another off the court. Then their relationship deteriorated in one of the nastiest ways imaginable. Miss any of @MagicJohnson and @iamisiahthomas ' emotional sit-down? Catch it again NEXT on NBA TV! #PlayersOnlyMonthly pic.twitter.com/nHSlhdbueq — NBA TV (@NBATV) December 20, 2017 Magic Johnson revealed in 2009 that he helped keep Thomas out of the 92’ Dream Team because he felt betrayed, accusing the Pistons point guard of spreading rumors about Johnson’s sexuality in the wake of his 1992 HIV revelation. Thomas denied those allegations, citing the fact he fought to allow Magic to still play after the diagnosis in the wake of players like Karl Malone protesting otherwise. And Thomas’ pre-game kiss on the cheek with Magic in the 1992 All-Star game was a pivotal cultural moment dispelling many of the myths about HIV at the time. Nobody knows the truth and after enough time passes, the truth doesn’t matter nearly as much as the pain that scabs up over it. Now, decades after their split, Johnson and Thomas have come face to face. The video that NBA TV released of the two crying as they get over their past issues has captivated social media for its raw emotion. For me, it’s a wakeup call. We live in an era where cutting people off is celebrated. And, oftentimes, cutting off toxic people in the short term is necessary and helpful. But it can also be addicting. The healthy balance between cutting people off and healing often tilts towards the easier option of just shutting someone out forever. Especially for men. Because eliminating someone who I feel has wronged me is easier than looking that person in the eye and telling him or her that I was hurt. It’s just easier to never speak again, burying memories and feelings away and fighting them when they dare to return. Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas fought through that desire to hold on to their pride and anger. Instead, they chose love. Hearing Magic’s voice crack and seeing Isiah’s breakdown showed me how much they missed each other. They didn’t have to push those emotions to the surface again, but they chose to. Because love is a choice, and can be the hardest choice to make when given a bevy of different options. And that’s why I keep thinking about Magic, Isiah and Combat together today. Because they all chose love – especially now in a world where it’s so hard to make that choice. Magic and Isiah chose to fight through their pain to love each other again. And Combat Jack lived his life by loving on us every single day. He made love his life’s work by working for us and with us. God don’t make mistakes and the two reminders of unending love are shining brighter than the hate the world is piling on us. It’s the message Combat spread and it won’t die as long as the people he’s touched are around to spread it. Rest In Peace.
DJ Akademiks says that the “internal chaos” Budden blames for his early exit from the popular YouTube program comes from his months-long contract negotiation process with Complex. Apparently, whatever payment amount and terms they were offering simply did not work for Joe…and the brand couldn’t quite secure some of the sponsors they were interested in because of Joe’s delivery style. What do you think of Ak’s side of the story? YouTube
It’s been a hectic week for Jenelle Evans. On Monday’s episode of Teen Mom 2 , Jenelle didn’t exactly come off looking like mother of the year, and in a pattern that’s become familiar to fans, she quickly took to Twitter to blame the show’s producers and editors. Like we said, it’s a familiar form of tantrum, and one that Jenelle favors as a negotiating tactic whenever she feels her bosses are ignoring her demands. This time, Evans has changed strategy slightly, going so far as to threaten to quit Teen Mom 2 if producers don’t “treat [her] with respect” on future episodes. It’s a gambit that puts MTV in a difficult position: Either they lose one of their most inexplicably popular reality stars, or they once again give in to Jenelle’s demands, setting yet another dangerous precedent. Most of Jenelle’s co-stars have been tight-lipped on the matter, likely torn between wanting to ensure favorable edits for themselves and fear of biting the hand that feeds them. But it seems Javi Marroquin is well aware of where his bread is buttered because he’s come out in full support of MTV, bashing Jenelle in a scathing interview with Radar Online. “I feel like every girl has threatened to leave the show since we started this years ago,” Marroquin, tells the site. “I hate when they say that because if you take out the doors that it opens, the money it provides, the house you’re living in, take all of that out and where would you be?” Javi goes on to say that he understands Jenelle’s frustrations, but does not condone her public complaints: “We’re human too,” he says. “We get annoyed and we get frustrated. But at the end of the day, work with them and they work with you. I’ve heard I want to quit since we started this. People need to be humble.” He added that at this point, the entire cast is well aware of how to take charge of their narrative, and if they fail to do so effectively, they have no one to blame but themselves: “You control your story,” he tells Radar. You do what you do on camera. You know you’re being filmed. If you’re going to act that way, own it. I don’t think you can edit whatever is going on that’s happening.” Not surprisingly, Marroquin says there were times when he was unhappy with how he was portrayed on the show, but unlike Jenelle, he realizes that’s simply the cost of doing business as a reality star: “If I get a bad edit then I deserve it,” he says. “If I said something stupid or did something stupid. We signed up for it. Realize it and change.” Wise words from a seasoned pro. Watch Teen Mom 2 online for more from Javi and troubled Mrs. Evans-Eason.
