Charlie Sheen: Concerned Parent or Self-Absorbed Phony?

Is Charlie Sheen a concerned, devoted dad looking out for his kids, or a delusional, unbalanced loon who talks a good game but is unwilling to really step up as a parent? The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services is going with the latter, and they’re not happy they’ve become a target of his verbal/Twitter grenades. The mess that has become Sheen’s family has been a hot topic lately, with the 48-year-old star reaming out everybody under the sun for their supposed refusal to do the right thing. According to Charlie, his ex-wife Brooke Mueller is an “evil whore,” the judge handling the case is an “anus brain” and DCFS is “incompetent and lascivious” (among other choice phrases). At stake is custody of Charlie and Brooke’s twins Bob and Max, who’ve been under the guardianship of Sheen’s other ex-wife Denise Richards for months due to Mueller’s drug problems. Denise wants out, due to the boys’ violent tendencies, and with the judge awarding custody to Brooke’s brother Scott , who will live with her and the boys, Sheen lost it on Twitter. While he’s great at dishing out blame, a DCFS source says Charlie has NEVER made a real move to gain custody of Bob and Max. Rather, “he cares more about his drugs and porn stars than the kids.” Some at the department feel Charlie is psychologically screwed up and angry, obviously doesn’t prioritize parenting, and should never have custody of the kids under any circumstances. Others believe that his intentions and abilities may not be as awful as you think, however his actions have never given officials the chance to take a serious look at him as a custodial parent. Either way … his face may be on the office dartboard at DCFS. As for the gag order he clearly violated by ripping everyone to shreds, a source says the DCFS and Brooke will NOT antagonize things further by moving to hold him in contempt. However, the judge who already warned him to shut his damn yap – and who Sheen berated as “Mr. Italian judge anus-brain ” – may be more than inclined to jail Charlie this coming week. Miley Cyrus Posts Showerrrrr Time Selfiiiie in Preparation for MTV EMAs

Miley Cyrus will perform tonight as part of the MTV European Music Awards. Prior to taking the stage, however, the young singer took a few moments to clean up her act… literally! Cyrus posted the following photo to Instagram today, depicting herself in the shower, hair in knotted pigtails and including with it a caption that reads: “I got that shower time showerrrrr time selfiiiie. (A la lana del ray) #happyemas.” This is rather tame for Miley these days, of course. Remember that spread of her exposing her nipples ? Or the GIFs of Miley Cyrus naked , riding a wrecking ball? We can only imagine what Cyrus has in mind for a performance this evening that takes place in Amsterdam.

Thor: The Dark World Hammers Box Office Competition

Despite less than stellar Thor: The Dark World reviews , the latest blockbuster from Marvel lived up to the hype and expectations this weekend, taking a hammer to all box office competition. The Chris Hemsworth film pulled in $86.1 million on Friday and Saturday. Thor: The Dark World Review This figure is over $20 million above what the original earned in May of 2011 and placed it well (well, well, well ) ahead of number-two finishes Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Ender’s Game, which finished on top last weekend, tumbled to number-five after seven days in release, while Free Birds and Last Vegas were sandwiched in before it. Downton Abbey: Picked Up for Season 5!

In television news nearly as shocking as The Walking Dead receiving a fifth season pick-up, ITV has announced Season 5 is a go for Downton Abbey. The British sensation is currently airing Season 4 in The UK and will premiere those new episodes on PBS on January 5 at 9/8c. Season 5, meanwhile, will air overseas in the fall of 2014 and not until early 2015 on American airwaves. Still… tea and crumpets for all! This is exciting news.

Kelly Rutherford: Bankrupt!

Former Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford has filed for bankruptcy. The actress’ lengthy custody dispute with her ex-husband Daniel Giersch seems to be the cause, according to legal documents from the 44-year-old star. She says she’s spent almost $1.5 million on legal fees. Rutherford says that she owes $350,000 in income taxes for 2012, and has an American Express bill of $25,251. Her debts, in total, are $2,021,832. Her current monthly income? Just $1,279.33. The custody battle over the former spouses’ children, 5-year-old Hermes and 3-year-old Helena, has been difficult for the star, financially and emotionally. In August 2012, a judge ruled that the children should live with German businessman Giersch in Monaco, where he moved after being barred from the U.S. Kelly Rutherford, the judge reasoned, has a flexible schedule and can travel to Monaco. The actress tried in vain to keep the kids in America while she was filming Gossip Girl .

Paul Giamatti Joins Cast of Downton Abbey

Another American is set to invade Downton Abbey . In a surprising/exciting bit of casting news, TV Line confirms that Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti has been cast on the British sensation as Harold Levinson, the maverick, brother of Elizabeth McGovern’s Cora. Look for the actor – currently filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – to appear on the Downton Abbey Season 4 finale. Giamatti is best known for big screen roles such as Sideways and Cinderella Man , but earned an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the title character in HBO’s miniseries John Adams . He also stopped by for a memorable guest-starring stint on 30 Rock in 2010. Downton Abbey , meanwhile, returns to PBS on January 5.
