The 2016 Emmy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and air on ABC on Sunday, September 18. They will honor the very best in television, both in drama and in comedy. In anticipation of the ceremony, we know many readers out there may be wondering on which shows and stars to place their money. So while we can't condone illegal gambling, we can provide the odds of winning for each series up for Best Drama… 1. Game Of Thrones Last year’s winner in this category, it stands a solid chance of repeating. Game Of Thrones ended with an incredible finale, which had to have left a positive impression in the minds of voters. It actually won’t be eligible next year, either, meaning this is the time to reward TV’s most universally beloved series… or wait to do so again until 2018. ODDS: 3-1. 2. Mr. Robot Forget the terrible second season, it’s Season 1 that is up for this award. And Mr. Robot burst on to the scene, giving us incredible performers and visuals that made it look unlike anything else on television. Just getting nominated was an achievement for a USA show, but this made enough of an impression that it could actually win. ODDS: 7-1. 3. House of Cards Here’s a Hot Take: House of Cards has gotten worse each season. But no one wants to admits this apaprently. It is still considered a “prestige” show, the kind the Emmys often recognize. ODDS: 10-1. 4. Homeland Another Emmy darling that just finished its best season since Season 2. But it’s still a shell of what it once was and we’re not sure if Homeland deserves to win this category when its best days are behind it. 5. Better Call Saul We’d love to see Better Call Saul win. It has succeeded where so many other spinoffs have failed, thanks to great writing and a great leading man. But will it suffer from the fact that it’s still no Breaking Bad, the show that made its existence possible? ODDS: 15-1. 6. Downton Abbey Please, God, no. Downton Abbey has come to an end and we could see Emmy voters wanting to honor the series as some sort of tribute. But we’re stunned it’s even nominated… and we’ve been saying that for years. ODDS: 25-1. View Slideshow

After six successful season, Downton Abbey may be over, but that doesn’t mean its characters stopped existing. While series creator Julianne Fellowes prepares for the Emmy Awards ( Downton is nominated in two categories ), he spoke to Deadline Hollywood at The London Hotel in West Hollywood about the impact his show has had on the American audience. Fellowes is quite proud of the way he wrapped the British series. Instead of leaving viewers hanging as he’s done in the past, Fellowes ended things on a high note. “I feel that if an audience has been loyal to you for six years, they deserve to go away from the last episode feeling good,” he said. “And Edith, especially, deserved a happy ending. I had teased people, with the end of the series before the Christmas special—with once again, it had all gone wrong. But it came right in the end, and I wanted her to outrank Mary.” Edith had fallen in love with a man who ended up inheriting a Marquess title from his late cousin, making Edith a Marchioness, which meant she ranked higher in the British aristocratic hierarchy than Mary, who was only a Lady. Don’t worry about Mary, though. “It’s never “poor Mary,” Fellowes insists. “She would survive the 1917 Revolution. She’d become a Commissar.” What sort of life does Fellowes’ leading lady live post- Downton ? “My own belief is that Mary, whether you like her or dislike her, is a hard worker, and she’s practical. I think she will employ the kind of advice that she needs,” Fellowes predicts. “She would probably have opened the house to the public in the 1960s, as so many of them did, and she’d have retreated to a wing, and maybe only occupied the whole house during the winter.” Many families with stately homes opted to open their doors to the public, treating the estate as a sort of museum. The money raised from admission fees would then help to keep up with the costs of running a place such as Downton Abbey. “My own belief is the Crawleys would still be there, just as the Carnarvons are today [in the real Highclere Castle, where Downton was filmed],” Fellowes said. “George [Mary’s son] would have gone to the Second World War, and of course the fear is that he would be killed. “We know that Mary is pregnant, so there’s going to be another child. “As for the title, I don’t know where it would go beyond George, but let’s hope he gets through the war and has children of his own,” Fellowes continued. “George was born in 1921, which makes him nine years younger than my father, and he only died in 1999. If he lived to the same age as my father, he’d have died in 2008, which takes us right into the modern age.” Well, there’s seasons 7-10 right there. Somewhere on the Highclere estate, Lady Mary’s great-great granddaughter is sneaking a cigarette with her equally naughty friends. Downton Abbey Cast Performs Scene in American Accents

Tatiana Maslany was finally nominated for an Emmy Award this year. Hooray! Thank goodness! It's about time! But while we're psyched to see the Orphan Black star up for Outstanding Actress in a Drama, we're sad to NOT to see certain stars and shows up for certain trophies on September 20. With that in mind, here's a look at the biggest Emmy snubs from this year… along with the stars or series we think they should have replaced. 1. The Americans for Best Drama The Americans is only the best written, most tense show on television. Downton Abbey, meanwhile, has grown worse each year. 2. Walton Goggins for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Led by Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins, Justified delivered a terrific final season. Jim Carter? He doesn’t have a quarter of the range that Goggins possesses. 3. Gina Rodriguez for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Gina Rodriguez was a breath of young, fresh air on Jane the Virgin this year. We adore Edie Falco, meanwhile, she may be the best TV actress of her generation. But not when it comes to comedy. 4. The Good Wife for Best Drama Homeland is a once-great show that is now a shadow of its former self. The Good Wife must produce nearly twice as many episodes as dramas on cable… and yet it keeps getting better. 5. Eva Green for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Eva Green deserves recognition for that seance scene alone. We’d give her the spot occupied by Robin Wright of House of Cards. 6. Matthew Rhys for Outstanding Actor in a Drama As mentioned before, Matthew Rhys stars on the best show on TV. Jeff Daniels, meanwhile, starred on an Aaron Sorkin soapbox. View Slideshow

After you meet Kate Middleton , there’s nowhere to go but down… Carnival films, the producers Downton Abbey, confirmed today that this beloved drama will come to an end following its upcoming sixth season. We’ll give you a moment to pour out some tea in honor of its memory. “Millions of people around the world have followed the journey of the Crawley family and those who serve them for the last five years. Inevitably there comes a time when all shows should end and ‘Downton’ is no exception,” said producer Gareth Neame via statement. He continued: “We wanted to close the doors of Downton Abbey when it felt right and natural for the storylines to come together and when the show was still being enjoyed so much by its fans. “We can promise a final season full of all the usual drama and intrigue, but with the added excitement of discovering how and where they all end up…” There has been speculation over the future of Downton Abbey ever since star Maggie Smith told The Sunday Times a few weeks ago that “this is the last one and I can’t see how it could go on.” You’ll always be able to watch Downton Abbey online , but the soap opera will soon bid farewell to the small screen forever. 9 TV Shows That SHOULD Be Canceled 1. Grey’s Anatomy It’s been an amazing run for the show that put Shonda Rhimes on the map. But a plane crash, a hospital shooter and an earthquake later, there’s just nowhere else for this show to go. Nearly all original cast members have departed. Grey’s Anatomy should say goodbye before it soars too high over the shark. 2. Revenge The red sharpie barely makes an appearance any longer on this once-suspenseful ABC drama. Any revenge plan that takes this long to carry out likely isn’t gonna be successful. 3. Homeland Homeland basically died along with Nicholas Brody. It’s just a watered down version of what it once was now. 4. American Idol It’s just sad to watch this former ratings juggernaut limp to its conclusion… with no real end in sight. Advertisement A message from our sponsor. 5. 2 Broke Girls This show is just racist. 6. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD It turns out that a Marvel universe without superheroes just isn’t all that exciting. 7. Keeping Up with the Kardashians Just… please… make… it… stop. 8. The Bachelorette Once producers resort to the gimmick of TWO Bachelorettes basically pulling each other’s hair out and possibly offering the guys sexual favors in order to earn the honor of being voted the sole Bachelorette… we’re pretty sure it’s time to move on. Advertisement A message from our sponsor. 9. The Odd Couple Yes, The Odd Couple just got underway on CBS. But it replaced Two and a Half Men and it’s JUST like Two and a Half Men and we… just… can’t. Matthew Perry deserves better. The End. Up Next: ” 9 TV Shows That SHOULD Be Canceled .” We’ll be redirecting you shortly… We’ll give series creator Julian Fellowes the last word: The Downton journey has been amazing for everyone aboard. People ask if we knew what was going to happen when we started to make the first series and the answer is that, of course we had no idea. Exactly why the series had such an impact and reached so many people around the world, all nationalities, all ages, all types, I cannot begin to explain. But I do know how grateful we are to have been allowed this unique experience. I suspect the show will always be a principal marker in most of our careers as we set out from here, and if so, I consider that a blessing and a compliment.
