Newborn Baby Holds Mom’s Failed IUD in Adorable Viral Photo

The story of a woman named Lucy Hellein and her brand new baby boy is going viral, and for good reason. It’s fascinating, it doesn’t really make sense, there’s a precious little baby involved … there’s something for everyone! Lucy just gave birth to her fourth child, a little boy she named Dexter, on April 27th. Dexter was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, and weighed in at just over 9 pounds. You may be thinking something along the lines of “Congrats or whatever, but why are we talking about this?” And the answer, friends, is that we’re talking about this because of this photo of the baby, which has gone viral this week: That’s precious little Dexter experiencing the world for the very first time. He’s also — and this is the real fun part — holding his mother’s IUD in his tiny baby hand. Yep, Lucy had the Mirena IUD implanted last year as her chosen form of birth control. Obviously it did not take. A couple of weeks ago, Lucy wrote a post on Instagram, explaining what went down. “Back in December, I found out I was already 18 weeks pregnant,” she wrote. And to all the people wondering how she could have gone so long without knowing about the pregnancy, she said that she still had her IUD in. “This boy was definitely a HUGE surprise,” she continued. “Apparently I’m part of the 1% who end up with a viable Mirena pregnancy.” The baby’s due date was May 4th — she said that “even my OB said The Force is Strong with this one.” However, she scheduled a C-section for April 27th “to find the mirena and close down the baby factory.” Doctors found the IUD behind her placenta, then placed it in the baby’s hand because, come on, it’s a great photo. In an interview, Lucy admits that she didn’t think the photo of her son would go viral, and that her doctor estimates she conceived about three weeks after getting the IUD. A Planned Parenthood nurse has commented on the story as well, explaining that it’s “next to impossible” to get pregnant while on Mirena. Specifically, she said “You have a better chance of winning the lotto.” Well, better start buying up those tickets, ladies: as Lucy’s photo has been making the rounds on social media, several women have been sharing their own stories about their “Mirena fails.” Congrats to the happy little family! Lena Dunham Reveals Hospitalization, Speaks Out on Trump Care

Here’s something that won’t surprise you: Like the majority of the civilized world, Lena Dunham is no fan of the odious GOP-backed legislation commonly referred to as “Trump Care.” Here’s something that probably will surprise you: During Monday night’s 2017 Met Gala , Dunham was rushed to the hospital shortly after walking the red carpet. Dunham suffers from endometriosis, a chronic illness affecting the female reproductive system that often results in chronic pelvic pain and infertility. The actress and writer underwent a fifth surgical procedure in April with the goal of alleviating her symptoms for good, but apparently she experienced complications the night of the gala. Yesterday, Dunham shared a photo from her hospital bed in which her custom Elizabeth Kennedy dress can be seen in the background. She posted the pic alongside some thoughts about healthcare in America: “Thank you for all the love & concern that’s been pouring in since Tuesday. Although I’m much healthier than I was a year ago, complications arose from my most recent endometriosis surgery,” Lena wrote on Instagram. “When the healthcare of so many American women, especially our trans sisters, is at-risk- or already nonexistent- I am lucky to be in the position to seek help when I’m in pain.” She added: ‘To those in that privileged spot- never forget that we are blessed and can pay it forward by supporting Planned Parenthood and LGBTQ clinics like Callen-Lorde with our [money] and [time]. Dunham went on to offer words of encouragement to other women who are suffering from chronic illnesses: “I also want to remind all the women suffering from chronic illness that we aren’t weak- quite the opposite, actually. We do our jobs with skill even when we’re struggling.  “We care families even when we can hardly care for ourselves. We serve major face on a red carpet when we feel like lying face down would be more appropriate.” Dunham went on to address recent the recent controversies at Fox News , pointing out that on-air personality Diana Falzone recently sued the network for allegedly discriminating against her as a result of her endometriosis diagnosis: “Just that morning @dianafalzone sued Fox after they took her off air for disclosing her endometriosis,” Dunham wrote. “But they’re the ones who lost when they fired her, because everyone who’s anyone knows that if you can battle chronic illness there’s nothing you can’t take on.” Powerful words from a powerful woman. Fortunately, Lena says that despite the recent setback she’s healthier than ever these days. We wish her all the best as she continues to battle this potentially debilitating illness. Lena Dunham: Please Stop Talking About My Weight Loss!

So Lena Dunham has lost a lot of weight recently, right? A considerable amount of weight, really. But the thing is, she doesn’t want any of us to talk about it. “But why?” you might be thinking. “She keeps talking about it herself, what does she expect?” And those are good questions — Lena started losing weight a few months ago, and she’s been open about the reason behind it. In a February interview with Howard Stern, she explained that “Donald Trump became president and I stopped being able to eat food .” “Everyone’s been asking like, ‘What have you been doing?'” she went on. “And I’m like, ‘Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.'” In January, she called a Glamour cover in which some cellulite was visible on her legs a ” triumph for womankind ,” so she’s clearly comfortable with talking about any and all aspects of her body and her weight. But in a great big long Instagram post she shared yesterday, she insists that she’s not cool with people talking about her weight. We know that because the photo she shared was a screenshot from an article titled “People Need to Stop Talking About Lena Dunham’s Weight.” In her caption, she writes “I feel I’ve made it pretty clear over the years that I don’t give even the tiniest of sh-ts what anyone else feels about my body.” “I’ve gone on red carpets in couture as a size 14. I’ve done sex scenes days after surgery, mottled with scars .” “I’ve accepted that my body is an every-changing organism,” she writes, “not a fixed entity — what goes up must come down and vice versa.” “I smile just as wide no matter my current size because I’m proud of what this body has seen and done and represented. Chronic illness sufferer. Body-shaming vigilante. Sexual assault survivor. Raging hottie. Just like all of YOU.” And this is where it gets weird — she says that “Right now I’m struggling to control my endometriosis through a healthy diet and exercise.” What about Trump though, girl? Why the change in the story? Regardless, Lena continues by saying that her weight loss “isn’t a triumph and it also isn’t some sign I’ve finally given in to the voices of trolls.” “Because my body belongs to ME — at every phase, in every iteration, and whatever I’m doing with it, I’m not handing in my feminist card to anyone.” “I refuse to celebrate these bullsh-t before-and-after-pictures,” she concludes. “Don’t we have infinitely more pressing news to attend to?” … K. It’s just strange because … like, of course her body belongs to her. And as someone who thoroughly enjoys posing nude or nearly nude at every opportunity, she should realize that people are going to notice big changes. Pointing out her weight loss isn’t somehow an anti-feminist move, and it’s not like people are saying “Thank goodness she finally lost some weight, she’s finally a real person now!” Everyone loves a good weight loss before-and-after. It’s human nature. It doesn’t have to mean something terrible, and it doesn’t require an essay. So take that body that belongs to you, Lena, and just chill for a little bit. Lena Dunham Has Something to Say About Kim Kardashian Getting Robbed

Lena Dunham is never one to hold back with an opinion. The Girls writer, producer and creator is one of the more outspoken celebrities in Hollywood and she has a point to make when it comes to Kim Kardashian getting robbed at gunpoint in Paris this week. Are you ready to hear it? Speaking on Wednesday to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, Dunham referred to the act perpetrated against Kardashian as something that was “so awful.” The only thing worse, in a manner of speaking? Anyone making a quip at Kim’s expense this week. “What I really hate about this Kim thing is that people are feeling so much license to make jokes,” the 30-year-old star says. “That’s a human being.” It’s a similar point to the one James Corden made so clearly in a Tweet just hours after news of the robbery broke. Wrote the talk show host online at the time: It’s true. Think what you want about Kim Kardashian (any regular reader of The Hollywood Gossip knows that we have quite a few issues with the star), but do not dare to think that she somehow deserved this to happen to her. Don’t make light of the situation. Kardashian was bound and gagged by armed assailants in France early Monday morning. She begged for her life, telling the men that she had two little kids at home, and multiple sources have said Kardashian believed she was going to be raped . Can you possibly imagine being in that kind of situation?!? “You may not agree with everything she does, but that’s a woman and a mother and a daughter who just went through something so heinous,” Dunham added in the interview. “So, my heart is with Kim.” Amen, Lena. Preach on! According to TMZ insiders, Kardashian doesn’t take the blame for this horrible crime or anything. But she does acknowledge that flaunting her wealth as often as she has done on social media isn’t a great idea. Sources tell the website that Kim will take a few weeks off from posting at all… and when she does return to Twitter and/or Instagram, it will be with a far more subdued presence. Don’t expect her to share photos of her jewelry anymore or even promote her fashion line as often. “Material things mean nothing,” she has allegedly told friends behind the scenes since the robbery took place, finally realizing: “It’s not all about the money. It’s not worth it.” Karl Lagerfeld Blames Kim Kardashian for Robbery An investigation remains ongoing. Some are wondering whether the robbery was an inside job, others are pointing at the concierge, who was tied up with Kim in the bathroom of her apartment. He was especially calm under such duress, insiders claim, and he was eventually left unharmed in the lobby. Might he have been in on the whole thing? Elsewhere in her interview, Dunham touches on controversial remarks she made this summer about Odell Beckham Jr . “It seemed like I was accusing him of some kind of misogyny,” she said, adding that she inadvertently added to negative stereotypes and saying: “It was a great lesson to me in how your humor can be misconstrued. In the written word, it did not translate… I apologized immediately, I apologized to him privately.” Watch Dunham’s full interview below: Lena Dunham on The Breakfast Club
