Twee Alert: Watch Six Adorbs Clips from Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom

You already know you’re in for a twee-fest packed with richly colorful characters and a healthy dose of quirky charm in Wes Anderson ‘s period kid romance Moonrise Kingdom , so watching these six newly unveiled clips from the film probably won’t spoil all that much. Instead, they give us more of what we’re already expecting: Game turns by Anderson regulars like Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman as well as Bruce Willis , Frances McDormand , and Ed Norton , the hazy muted palette of the isolated New England countryside as if filtered through Instagram, and our two preternatural adolescent heroes, plotting their summer camp flight through the wilderness in the name of love. Obviously, avoid the below clips if you’d like to go in completely spoiler-free. While I’m guessing the scenes in question occur in the below order in the film, who knows? The charm of Moonrise Kingdom promises to be in the performances (get a fun glimpse of Tilda Swinton ‘s ball-busting turn as Social Services, for instance), though I will add this spoiler: Moonrise Kingdom ‘s dolly shot budget appears to have been quite high. “New Penzance” “The Most Important Decision in Your Lives” “Were You Followed?” “Loaded Question” “I’m Deputizing the Little Guy” “Juvenile Refugee” Official synopsis: Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl. Moonrise Kingdom debuts at Cannes and opens in limited release May 25.

Psycho Titles + Blockbuster Spies = First Bourne Legacy Trailer

There are no new ideas in Hollywood, hence a Bourne franchise reboot whose first trailer — just released via Apple — borrows somewhat heavily from the opening titles of Psycho . (At least they’re both Universal films, right? Score one for synergy!) But that’s immaterial here after a certain point, probably around the time when Stacy Keach is all WHO IS HE? or when a house blows up or simply when Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross is revealed in all his rifle-toting, tree-hopping glory. Who can resist? Anyway, the whole gang’s here: Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Albert Finney from the original series; Keach, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton from the new generation… everyone but Matt Damon, I guess. Oh, and who’s missing the nauseating promise of more shaky-cam stylings from director Paul Greengrass, replaced here by Bourne screenwriting vet Tony Gilroy? Good, me neither. VERDICT : Sold! Edward Norton Responds To Hulk Controversy

‘I sincerely hoped it could happen and be great for everyone, but it hasn’t turned out as we all hoped,’ he writes on Facebook. By Eric Ditzian Edward Norton Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ Getty Images Things got ugly in the Marvel universe over the weekend when word leaked that Edward Norton would not be reprising his role as Bruce Banner — a.k.a. the Incredible Hulk — in the 2012 superhero all-star flick “The Avengers.” Marvel production president Kevin Feige zinged Norton for a lack of “collaborative spirit,” a statement Norton’s agent called “purposefully misleading.” Now Norton, who took on the Banner role in the Louis Leterrier-directed “Incredible Hulk,” has weighed in on the brouhaha with a post on his Facebook page . “As most of you know, I don’t like to talk much about the business of making movies because it means a lot to me to protect the audience’s fullest enjoyment of the ‘magic’ that films can have,” the statement began. “But I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans of the Hulk and the Avengers that I feel it would be rude not to respond.” Norton went on to avoid addressing the specifics of Feige’s statement, as well as the heated words of his agent. Instead, Norton simply stated the facts of the situation, declared his appreciation for playing the character at all and thanked fans for their support. “It seems it won’t work out for me to continue playing Bruce Banner for Marvel in ‘The Avengers,’ ” he wrote. “I sincerely hoped it could happen and be great for everyone, but it hasn’t turned out as we all hoped. I know this is disappointing to many people and that makes me sad. But I am very sincerely grateful to Marvel for extending the offer and even more so for giving me the chance to be a part of the Hulk’s long and excellent history. “And I really can’t thank the fans enough for how much enthusiasm you’ve sent my way about what Louis and I tried to do in our turn with the legend,” Norton concluded. “It means a lot to me. I grew up with Banner and Hulk and have been a fan of every incarnation. I’m really proud, and very blessed, to have been one of them and will be thrilled to see him live on through other actors. Hulk is bigger than all of us, that’s why we love him, right?” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘Hulk Is Bigger Than All of Us’: Edward Norton Offers a Facebook Franchise Farewell

You won’t like Edward Norton when he’s conciliatory. Fresh off a weekend of he said/he said mudslinging , the erstwhile green menace has apparently decided to act like Bruce Banner even though he can’t play him. Norton has taken to Facebook to post a note to his fans — many of whom apparently actually cared for The Incredible Hulk — expressing regret that he’ll lay down the tattered purple sweats in The Avengers . After the jump, take a look Norton’s mannered and utterly vanilla response and imagine a world where the casting decisions for a Marvel feature don’t take up 72 hours of your time.

Edward Norton Booted from The Avengers Due to Lack of "Creativity and Collaborative Spirit"

Edward Norton is an Oscar-nominated actor. But that bullet point on his resume wasn’t enough to help the star keep his most recent job, as Norton has been booted fron the upcoming big screen adaption of The Avengers . The May 2012 movie will bring together Marvel comic book heroes such as Captain America and Iron Man. It will star Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson , Samuel L. Jackson and more – but will NOT include Norton in the role of Bruce Banner. The studio explained why in this harsh statement: “We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers. “Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble… We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.” Snaps, yo ! Replied a rep for Norton: “This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light… This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings.” Norton starred in a 2008 remake of The Hulk that was panned by critics and bombed at the box office.

Will Joaquin Phoenix Replace Edward Norton in The Avengers?

It simply doesn’t seem possible for anyone to care this much about who plays the seventh lead in a comic book movie that won’t be released for another two years, but leave it to Marvel to make a simple casting decision feel like an event . All that was missing from the “Let’s toss Edward Norton under the bus!” e-mail that Kevin Feige sent out this weekend was an option to read it in 3D and a picture of Scarlett Johansson wearing a skin-tight leather jumpsuit. But there is good news: Once Comic-Con hits in two weeks, all these Avengers stories, rumors and innuendos will be over. But until then: Have you heard the one about Joaquin Phoenix?
