It’s been a while since we had TWO movies nude in theaters to tell you about! Hollywood is hoping to capitalize on the Friday the 13th “holiday” by releasing two scary movies: The Cabin in the Woods , opening in wide release, and Detention , opening in select cities. Both movies put their own unique twists on the slasher movies of their directors’ youth, while still remaining true to the genre’s most titillating convention with nude scenes from Anna Hutchison (above) in Cabin and Brooke Haven and Shanley Caswell (‘s body double) in Detention . As The Cabin in the Woods director David Goddard told New York Magazine’s Vulture blog: ” [Nudity is] crucial to that part of the genre, and we felt we had to honor the genre. ” Getting naked on film: it’s the respectful thing to do. Find out more about The Cabin in the Woods and Detention after the jump!
Most people I know haven’t even heard of ‘Prometheus’, so if you haven’t, then check out the trailer below. The movie works two ways, by itself as a stand-alone Ridley Scott-directed movie, and secondly, a sort-of prequel to Ridley Scott’s awesome ‘Alien’. Alien really changed things up in the genre when it came out, and paved the way for James Cameron’s awesome Aliens. Prometheus looks much more… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : TweakTown News RSS Feed Discovery Date : 22/12/2011 19:36 Number of articles : 2

There are hundreds of reasons we should welcome the new trend of movies featuring women who aren’t afraid to admit they enjoy sex and who use language that isn’t always granny-approved. In theory, the Georgia O’K eefe-like flowering of the genre should speak of a newfound freedom in how we think and talk about women’s sexuality. There’s just one problem: The movies are crap.
For those weary of parsing which part of the post- Dirty Harry , post-Tarantino cops and robbers homage is demonstrating its fondness for the genre and which is just declaring it, writer and director John Michael McDonagh’s The Guard is more exhausting than entertaining. Ideally one would have better things to do while in the act of watching a movie — like say watching the movie — but from its assaultive, nihilistic prologue to its last flat invocation of American culture, The Guard foregrounds the extent to which it is leaning on artifice and affect to get over.
Good news for Marvel and the team behind Captain America: The First Avenger : The summer’s latest major comics-hero tentpole also had the genre’s best midnight showing of the season with $4 million. That exceeds the previous best of X-Men: First Class ‘s $3.4 million and hints at a better-than-expected three-day total near $60 million. Startin’ here, startin’ now, honey everything’s coming up Portman! While her terrifyingly bi-curious ballerina is still raking in the dough (and the awards), Natalie Portman enjoyed a number one opening, as No Strings Attached came out on top this Friday, bumping down the boys club of The Green Hornet and The Dilemma to numbers two and three, respectively. Your Friday box office is here.
“Let’s tear this place apart!” So instructed director Jason Eisener before Friday’s midnight premiere of Hobo with a Shotgun , the unabashedly campy Canadian-American grindhouse flick about a homeless drifter who cleans up the streets of a depraved urban metropolis with only a pawn shop shotgun and plenty of gloriously insane death-dealing catchphrases in his arsenal. And while it may have disappointed Eisener and Co. that an actual riot didn’t erupt before or after their film, they must have been pleased that Hobo played exactly right to just the genre-loving crowd it was made for.
