Wilmore and Youssef will write and executive produce the show, and it’s being developed under ABC. “To have ABC challenge the narrative and stereotypes that have long stuck to people in my region is something spectacular to say the least,” Youssef said. “To have only terrorist roles available for us one day, then get to play superheroes the next, is ground breaking.”

Days later and fans of Beyoncé are still discussing her losing Album of the Year at the 59th annual Grammy Awards, including her sister. Solange Knowles took to her Twitter account to voice her displeasure with her older sister losing AOTY and with the Grammys in general, despite winning her first Grammy during Sunday night’s […]
The 59th annual Grammy Awards were last night and while a number of the night’s biggest nominees chose not to attend (Kanye West, Drake, Justin Bieber) the show still managed to have a few memorable moments. One in particular was when the night’s Album of the Year winner was announced and it went to Adele, […]
Adele had a rather huge night on Sunday. The singer opened the 2017 Grammys with an emotional performance of her smash hit single “Hello.” She then went on to win Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year, defeating fellow superstar Beyonce in each category each time. And that's really all Adele wanted to talk about when she took the stage to accept the trophy for Album of the Year (for “25”). “I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé and this album to me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental,” Adele said, acknowledging the pregnant singer, who was sitting mere steps away from her with husband Jay Z. Clearly wanting to remain on the good side of The Beygency, Adele continued: “It was so monumental and so well thought-out and so beautiful and soul-baring. “We all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see and we appreciate that. All us artists here adore you. You are our light!” The mother of a four-year old named Angelo, Adele touched on how Beyonce’s music made her and those around her feel, including her African-American friends. “It is empowering and you make them stand up for themselves and I love you,” she gushed. “I always have and always will.” Adele then went backstage and talked to reporters and kept lavishing praise on Beyonce . “I’m not going to lie, cause I was completely rooting for her – I voted for her,” Adele said, after literally breaking her Grammy in half to give a piece to her close pal and industry rival. She hilariously added: “I felt like it was her time to win. What the f-ck does she have to do to win Album of the Year?” Adele became the first person ever to sweep all three main Grammys categories twice. She previously won Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year for her second studio album, 21, in 2012. “Grammys, I appreciate it, the Academy I love you,” she said on stage. “My manager, my husband, and my son, you’re the only reason I do it.” Amazing stuff. Ed Sheeran was a last-minute addition to the 2017 Grammy Awards ' list of performers, but his effort Sunday night looked … effortless. Not in the sense that Ed didn't put in the effort, but the British singer-songwriter has a way of making it look easy on stage sometimes. Sheeran, 25, took the Grammy stage, having announced he was doing so just seven hours earlier, for a smooth, stripped-down performance. His loop-pedal roots are what launched Ed's popularity, and he showed that Sunday night with a rendition of “Shape of You.” It was a performance profound in its simplicity. An acoustic guitar, a keyboard and a couple of mics (which worked, unlike with Lady Gaga and Metallica ) were all he used last night. No in-ear monitors were employed, even. Ed is known for his casual style fashion-wise as well as personally and musically, and was true to that as well at the Grammys. Sporting a simple black t-shirt and jeans, he crushed the performance … and in the process, he unwittingly crashed a website. How did he pull that off, you ask? Sheeran's pedal board of choice, the Chewie II Monsta Looper, caused fascination among the millions of music fans tuning in to watch. As such, an influx of web traffic to Equipboard (dot) com caused the online database of music gear to display a 502 error after Ed played. Without getting too technical, the site got an arse-load of traffic thanks to Sheeran, and its servers became overloaded with the demand. Even more awesome considering that not even 24 hours prior, he was the musical guest performing on Saturday Night Live in NYC. Three thousand miles away. Watch part of Sheeran's performance below and see how it compared to Adele's Grammy performance and others from the evening!
