Justin Bieber: Boyz II Men ‘Perfect’ For Christmas Song

Holiday collabo is called ‘Falalalala,’ group reveals to MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Boyz II Men Photo: MTV News After a photo surfaced online of Justin Bieber and Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman in the studio together, Beliebers were pretty excited about the Christmas track they were putting together. Bieber had his musical heroes in mind when he heard the song — called “Falalalala,” the group revealed to MTV News — for his upcoming holiday album. “He thought we’d be perfect for it,” Stockman said. “And we went in and locked in.” When the Boyz stopped by to talk about their October album Twenty, Wanya Morris recalled meeting the teen star for the first time way back before they all worked together. “We met him in the hotel, at the Le Montrose, in L.A. and the dude, he had a cast on at the time,” Morris remembered. “And he stepped up and said, ‘Oh my God! Boyz II Men, you’re my favorite group!’ And we’re like, ‘Oh, OK,’ and at the time, we didn’t know who he was. He was a new dude, and the next thing you know, he’s huge. And I’m like, ‘That’s the same guy!’ ” Bieber was a fan of Boyz II Men from when he was a kid, but there was one track that wasn’t allowed in the Bieber household. “He told us his mom didn’t want him to sing ‘I’ll Make Love to You,’ so he’d sneak and go sing it somewhere,” Morris said. “It’s also good to know we’ve influenced such a good artist. It’s something that makes us feel we’ve accomplished [something and] we’re doing our job, [that] a guy so young and so into his craft [is] influenced by three guys from Philadelphia that love to sing.” What are you expecting from Bieber and Boyz II Men’s Christmas collabo? Lady Gaga Sends Love To Clarence Clemons On Twitter

‘Can we all make some get-well videos?’ Gaga requests of her Little Monsters. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Clarence Clemons is reportedly “responsive and in stable condition” after two brain surgeries, according to Bruce Springsteen fansite Backstreets.com . The E Street Band member suffered a stroke on Sunday and is now reportedly on the mend. “Yesterday, it did not look good at all. Today … miracles are happening. His vital signs are improving. He’s responsive. His eyes are welling up when we’re talking to him. He was paralyzed on his left side, but now he’s squeezing with his left hand,” a source close to the musician tells the site. “This is the best news we’ve heard since [the stroke] happened — it’s nothing short of miraculous. The next five days will still be critical. But he’s a fighter.” Fox New York confirmed the report. A rep for Springsteen had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment or further information on Clemons’ condition by press time. Lady Gaga, who worked with Clemons on her Born This Way album, took to Twitter to send love and well-wishes to the saxophonist. “Little monsters, my very close friend +musician on ‘The Edge of Glory’ Clarence Clemons is very sick,” she wrote. “Can we all make some get-well videos?” “Edge of Glory” producer Fernando Garibay recently recalled to MTV News Gaga’s desire to get the musician on the song, which she wrote as an ode to her grandfather. “As soon as she was done with it, we said, ‘Let’s go with it.’ I think it’s very epic. It’s an emotional song,” Garibay said. As for Clemons’ appearance on the song, he added, “She wanted a sax part, so he came in and played on ‘Edge of Glory,’ and what a moment that was to have her family there when the sax was being played on the track and it was all really magical. “Clarence Clemons came to the city; we were in New York,” he continued. “He heard the song twice. We set up a mic and everything [and he] just played live all the way through. It was kind of one take. It was really amazing.” Related Videos Track By Track: Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Related Artists Lady Gaga

Tyler Clementi’s Roommate Indicted On Hate Crime Charges

Clementi’s September suicide inspired nationwide anti-bullying movement. By Gil Kaufman Tyler Clementi Photo: Facebook A New Jersey grand jury indicted Rutgers University student Dharum Ravi on 15 charges on Wednesday in connection with the September suicide of his roommate, Tyler Clementi . The charges came nine months after Clementi’s death inspired a nationwide anti-bullying movement that has drawn support from everyone from Lady Gaga to President Obama, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. According to The New York Times, after initially being charged with invasion of privacy, Ravi was accused in Wednesday’s indictment of acting with antigay motives in posting a romantic encounter between Clementi and another man online, a hate crime that could result in a sentence of five to 10 years in prison if convicted. In addition, the grand jury charged Ravi, 19, with an attempted cover-up in the case, accusing him of deleting a Twitter post that had alerted others about a second encounter Clementi had planned with the man and replacing it with a post that was “intended to mislead the investigation.” Prosecutors also claimed that Ravi attempted to persuade some witnesses not to testify against him. Prosecutors explained on Wednesday that the bias-intimidation charges were based in part on events that began on August 6, when Ravi learned his roommate’s name, later announcing on Twitter that Clementi was gay. “The grand jury charged that the invasion of privacy and attempt to invade the privacy of

Lady Gaga Approves ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Parody Of ‘Born This Way’

Comedian claims Gaga’s people initially denied him the right to release his parody ‘Perform This Way.’ By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Jemal Countess/ Getty Images The great “Weird Al” Yankovic-Lady Gaga standoff of 2011 appears to be over. After the song parody king wrote a lengthy blog on Wednesday complaining that Gaga’s people had denied his request to release his stinging “Perform This Way” cover of Gaga’s “Born This Way,” he updated the situation later in the day and said it was a big misunderstanding. “After putting my Lady Gaga parody on YouTube this morning — and announcing that it wouldn’t be on my next album because Gaga didn’t approve it — there was a huge outpouring of disappointment from the Internet,” Yankovic wrote . “Apparently the fact that she didn’t approve it was news to Lady Gaga herself! Gaga’s manager has now admitted that he never forwarded my parody to Gaga — she had no idea at all. Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that’s what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own.” Though a spokesperson for Gaga had not returned requests for comment at press time, Yankovic said the singer’s manager has apologized to him for the mix-up and noted that apparently Mother Monster “loves the song.” Yankovic’s songs are legally protected by fair-use laws, but he has made a point of getting approval from the artists he is parodying before releasing his songs, including Michael Jackson, R.E.M., AC/DC, Madonna and Chamillionaire, who sang the praises of Al’s “White & Nerdy” take on “Ridin’.” Citing an unnamed source “extremely close” to the singer, TMZ reported that “there must have been a misunderstanding because [Gaga] is in no way trying to block the release of the parody.” Other unnamed sources added, “she’s busy touring and hasn’t heard the song yet. Her manager hasn’t had a chance to play it for her yet … she’s a huge Weird Al fan.” Yankovic, 51, said he’s thrilled the situation has been resolved because he not only respects and admires Gaga as an artist (who clearly has a “great” sense of humor), but it also means he gets to put out his new album. Proceeds from the video will go to the Human Rights Campaign. Related Photos The Evolution Of: Lady Gaga Related Artists Lady Gaga

Lil Wayne’s ‘Green And Yellow’ Is ‘Wild,’ Wiz Khalifa Says

‘Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it,’ the ‘Black and Yellow’ MC tells MTV News. By Matt Elias Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Super Bowl XLV might not have panned out quite like Pittsburgh MC Wiz Khalifa would have wanted, since his beloved Steelers get edged out by the Green Bay Packers. But still, there was an upside for Wiz — namely, hearing Lil Wayne take on his Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow” with his own remix, the aptly titled “Green and Yellow.” When MTV News caught up with Wiz on the set of his “Roll Up” music video in Venice, California, we had to ask what he thought about Weezy’s remix. “I actually thought it was real cool when he did his version,” Wiz said. “Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it. Not saying that he wouldn’t, but it was kind of wild, like, hearing Wayne flip how I rap, ’cause that’s Lil Wayne. But it was cool.” It’s a great compliment to the momentum Wiz has built in the last year. First, he was named MTV News’ 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC , then he signed to Atlantic Records and teamed up with Snoop Dogg for the official “Black and Yellow” remix , and now he’s gearing up for the release of his debut, Rolling Papers, next month. And even though the Steelers lost, Wiz was in characteristically good spirits about the whole situation. “My reaction to Sunday is just like, we’ll get ’em next time,” the mellow MC said. “We’ve been to plenty of Super Bowls. It won’t be the last one, and it was kind of a bummer just losing. But we had a great season and a lot of momentum just going into it, so I think that just had everybody boosted anyway. There was a lot of attention on Pittsburgh.” What did you think of Lil Wayne’s “Green and Yellow”? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Wiz Khalifa Lil Wayne

Chris Brown ‘Jumped’ On ‘Make A Movie,’ Twista Says

‘It’s sexy to the people,’ Twista tells MTV News of Perfect Storm single. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias Twista Photo: MTV News Twista might be known more for his tongue-twisting rhymes than his sexier fare, but the veteran MC has scored big hits in the past with crooners like Trey Songz and Jamie Foxx. Now, the Chicago star has recruited Chris Brown for his latest, “Make a Movie,” the lead single from his forthcoming effort, The Perfect Storm. He said landing Brown was a matter of mutual respect. “It was just a groove that I really felt, the whole vibe of the song,” Twista told MTV News. “It was something that fit the criteria of what I wanted to come with as far as my next single, as far as me making the sexy jams and being able to come like that. So when I heard the song, I knew it was a jam we could really work with. By the time it came around to get Chris Brown on it, I was like, ‘Man, we got to put the homie Chris on it.’ ” According to Twista, he and his camp made a few calls to Brown and his representatives to gauge their interest. It didn’t take long for Team Breezy to get back to the rapper. And to hear Twista explain it, both sides knew they had something on their hands with “Make a Movie.” “When he heard the song, he immediately jumped on it, as far as the mutual respect he had for me,” Twista said. “When I got it back, I listened to it one time, and we knew it was a wrap. We knew we had to roll with it, because it was a jam. It’s sexy to the people. Whenever we play it for different people we try to catch a vibe from, they always like it, so I knew it was the one for me.” What do you think of Twista teaming up with Chris Brown?
