Remember when the world thought Ben Affleck got a huge rainbow phoenix tattoo , and he explained it away by claiming that it was a fake for the movie Live By Night ? Of course you don’t! That happened way back in 2015, and Live By Night tanked so hard over the weekend that you probably weren’t even aware it came out. But believe it or not, some people did see Affleck’s latest directorial effort over the weekend, and they Ben’s “fake” ink makes no appearance in the film. We suppose that’s not surprising, as the tatt is never mentioned in the Dennis Lehane novel from which Night is adapted, and it would’ve looked pretty anachronistic in a 1920s period drama. Sure, some people had full-back tattoos by then, but we imagine they spent most of their time at sea. So why would Ben lie about going under the needle? Well, it may have something to do with the fact that every Jennifer in his life roasted him to a crisp over the cheese-ball back tatt. The ink was first photographed shortly after news of Ben’s divorce from Jennifer Garner went public, and when sources stated that the Ed Hardy-esque body art was supposed to symbolize Ben rising from the ashes of his failed marriage, Garner made t clear she wasn’t having that at all: “You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario?” Garner told Vanity Fair last year. “I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.” When Ben’s ex Jennifer Lopez also mocked the tattoo , clearly the Oscar-winner felt it was time to go into damage control mode: Affleck told Extra that the ink was “fake for a movie” and then executed a quick change of topic: “I actually do have a number of tattoos, but I try to have them in places where you don’t have to do a lot of cover up,” Ben went on. “They get sort of addictive, tattoos, after awhile.” Smooooooth, Batman. On Wednesday night, Ellen DeGeneres was honored at the 2017 People's Choice Awards with her record 20th trophy at the event. Fast forward to the following morning, however, and Ellen was on the set of her talk show, sitting in her regular chair, acting as the one doing the honoring. And, in the following clip from Ellen , the subject of this honoring was President Barack Obama. “This is the last day that Barack Obama will be our president,” the comedian told her audience. She then continued, explaining in detail the kind of impact Obama and his wife have had on her journey over the past eight years. “I want to thank him for changing my life,”the 58-year old said. “I am a legally married woman because of him and so is my wife. His courage and compassion created equality for everyone. He moved us forward and made more happen in the past eight years than I ever dreamed possible. I love him, I love Michelle.” Back in 2010, DeGeneres said that she she and De Rossi would exchange vows after the ban on same-sex marriage in California was lifted. In June 2015, the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage for couples across all 50 states. Jeremy Calvert has a few things to say to Leah Messer. A few angry and bitter things to say to Leah Messer, we should clarify. As those who watch Teen Mom 2 online or on television witnessed this week, tension ran unusually high between Jeremy and Leah. The parents of three-year old daughter Adalynn divorced back in 2015, but had been on relatively amicable terms until recently. Not any longer, and it appears the reality show is to blame. Calvert, who recently called out MTV for manipulating footage and ruining lives through editing, went off on TM2 and his ex-wife. Jeremy was not pleased about Messer’s interpretation of his actions, making it look like he practically kidnapped their child. As depicted on Monday’s episode, Calvert took Adalynn on a trip to Ohio , failing to answer any phone calls or texts from Leah. The incident took place after Messer’s hometown of Elkview, West Virginia, suffered a major flood. Here’s where it gets a little complicated: While Messer’s house fortunately came out of the natural disaster unscathed, Calvert’s family residence in Ohio was significantly damaged. Jeremy therefore left South Dakota, where he had been working as a pipeline engineer, to return home and help out his folks. He had Adalynn with him at the time, and Leah claimed she was left in the dark when it came to her child’s whereabouts. “We’re supposed to get another flash-flood warning, and she’s in another city and I know nothing!” she screamed at one point. Leah later said Jeremy “lied” when confronted about this But now Calvert has taken to Instagram to tell his side of the story, which he says is just another case of MTV stirring up drama. “So, to clarify tonight’s episode about me leaving West Virginia and not informing Leah on my travels,” the reality star captioned a video clip. Jeremy Calvert Clarifies Teen Mom 2 Scene “I texted her at 6:42 pm and did not get a text message back until 9:38 pm when I was already in Ohio.” He continued in his attempt to escape blame: “I am not waiting around 3 hours for my ex-wife to respond to me and say yes you can take our child to Ohio or not during a disaster.” “We didn’t have no water, electricity and everything was flooded, debris everywhere. “So, no, I was trying to spend some quality time with my daughter while I had a chance to be home from South Dakota even though it was a complete nightmare trip and everybody lost everything.” “So, I tried my best to communicate.” “I can’t help if somebody don’t answer their phone, read text messages or whatever situation may be on that behalf. I can only do what I can do.” Jeremy Calvert Goes Off on Teen Mom 2 Editing “The phone conversations you all saw tonight took [place] a week later when I was already back in West Virginia,” he continues. Unlike how it looks, he was “packing my clothes, getting ready to go back to work in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.” “Therefore MTV, all they want to do is stir the pot and cause more drama that was unnecessary.” “Because we had already hashed out the issues, but they wanted to bring it back up,” he says. “So they have some good drama for TV for you all to watch and get your own opinions about and get the ratings through the roof.” “So there you go on that bunch of bulls–t.” It doesn’t sound as though this will be the last time we hear from Calvert on this topic, which he has promised to refute on a line-item basis. “As a repercussion for deceitful editing, I will address each scene with what really happened,” he told Instagram followers earlier this month, adding: “I appreciate all of your support over the years.” He has not addressed rumors that Jeremy Calvert and Brooke Wehr broke up earlier this month after getting engaged last fall. Messer, meanwhile, seems unfazed by her ex-husband’s complaints and rants, or is certainly trying to put on a positive front. On Tuesday night, she shared a meme that reads “Don’t let anyone rent a space in your head, unless they’re a good tenant.” Determined not to let either Jeremy bring her down or criticism over her parenting affect her, Messer wrote the following as a caption to this message: Becoming aware of who and what impacts you positively and negatively is essential to learning how to choose to feel good. The comedian cried on air after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton on November 8. She then seriously considered moving to Spain, prior to staying put and deciding to use her talk show as a platform to talk about politics and the state of this country. Handler also plans to lead the Women’s March at the Sundance Film Festival on January 21. Just days away from Trump being inaugurated as President, Handler spoke to Variety from her home in New York City, responding to a question about the real estate mogul’s victory with a surprising answer. Does she blame a poorly-run Clinton campaign for the stunning Trump win? Frustrated white workers in states such as Florida and Michigan? Trump’s message on jobs? Nope, nope and nope. Handler blames Kim Kardashian. And Khloe Kardashian. And Kourtney Kardashian. And probably Kylie Jenner , too. After blaming the media for treating Trump like an “entertainer” instead of a politician, Handler explained her viewpoint thusly: “We’ve turned into a reality show. I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end was the Kardashians. The way these people have blown up and don’t go away – it’s surreal.” There’s certainly something to be said for the Kardashians representing a new age of social media and celebrity, one in which one can basically “do” nothing and still be rich and famous. But Trump did a lot during his campaign for the Presidency. He didn’t just pose for racy Instagram photos… thank goodness. “Everyone is for sale. We’re looking at a man that gets mad at Vanity Fair for reviewing his restaurant poorly,” Handler expounded to Vanity Fair, adding: “By the way, have you ever been to that restaurant? It’s the biggest piece of garbage you’ve ever walked into. That place looks like a Southwest airport lounge. It’s the worst.” In all seriousness, though, Handler is concerned about the future of our country. “The idea that so many people were so wrong about the outcome is so screwed up,” Chelsea says . “The fact that Russia is interfering with our election is beyond repair. How do we ever recover from that? What’s to prevent them from doing it for the rest of our lives?” Elsewhere in the interview, Handler refers to Trump as a “sociopath,” says Kanye West “needs to get on his meds” and says of her role as a celebrity: “[It’s] to reach across and figure out the people who are so disenchanted that they voted for him, and try to find some common ground.” Sounds like a tall order. Rob Schneider is an expert as many things: Making bad movies. Making terrible movies. Making historically unfunny and pathetic excuses for movies. But Schneider does not appear to be a Civil Rights expert, as evidenced by a Tweet that has landed the “actor” in scalding hot water. On Monday, Schneider felt a need to lecture Georgia Congressman John Lewis on some American history, most notably the way Martin Luther King Jr. lived his legendary life. Lewis, of course, has been in the news of late because he has said he will NOT attend Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20. The politician said last week that he doesn’t consider Trump to be a “legitimate president,” based on intelligence reports that confirm Russia hacked into this year’s election, with the intention of helping Trump defeat Hillary Clinton. In response to that decision and assessment, Trump went off on Lews via Twitter. “Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results,” the President-Elect wrote, adding: “All talk, talk, talk – no action or results. Sad!” This Tweet is racist, misguided and ridiculous. Lewis literally marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and was arrested on many occasions while fighting for civil rights in the 1960s. You’d be hard-pressed to find a politician who has accomplished more or taken more action than John Lewis. But such lack of logic, intelligence and sympathy is to be expected from Trump. We guess it should have been expected from the actor best known for having portrayed Deuce Bigalow, too. This is what Schneider wrote yesterday on social media: “Rep. Lewis. You are a great person. But Dr. King didn’t give in to his anger or his hurt. That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.” Lewis – who has served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district since 1987 – was with King on the day of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963. He also famously marched with King during the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery. And yet Rob Schneider ( Rob Schneider !) somehow felt qualified to lecture Lewis on what King did and thought. Fortunately, Twitter users also saw the irony and felt the anger as a result of this Tweet. “Rob Scheider [sic] lecturing anyone on anything is offensive, much less John Lewis on MLK Day. #facepalm,” one person wrote online, while another added: “As if rob schneider and his entire shtick as a sidekick to Adam Sandler career wasn’t embarrassing enough.” There was also this amazing takedown, which pointed to all the times Schneider played characters that were nothing but ethnic and racial stereotypes: Schneider is yet to respond to this onslaught of criticism. We’d say it would be good for his career if he did so, but let’s be honest: Rob Scheider has not had any kind of career in a very long time. If this was his attempt to simply make some news and to see his name in a headline for the first time in years, then well done, Rob! Mission accomplished!
