Anderson Cooper on Alec Baldwin: Where’s the Outrage?!?

Alec Baldwin going off on a reporter is not unusual. It’s become more of a norm for this actor than hosting Saturday Night Live . But Baldwin took his rage to a disturbing extreme last week when he blasted Daily Mail reporter George Stark for allegations the writer made about Baldwin’s wife. The Emmy winner has since apologized for the homophobic nature of his remarks, but Anderson Cooper has still raised an interesting question regarding Baldwin, an outspoken liberal. “Why does#AlecBaldwin get a pass when he uses gay slurs?” the openly gay anchor wondered on Twitter. “If a conservative talked of beating up a ‘queen’ they would be vilified.” Cooper then re-Tweeted a message from CNN producer Steve Krakauer, who quoted the excerpts of Baldwin’s tirade that read: ”[I’d] put my foot up your f**king ass, George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much.” What does that mean, Alec? both Krakauer and Cooper asked. No direct response yet from the star, but what do you think of Baldwin’s Twitter rant?   It was deserved! It was homophobic! Dude has problems. View Poll »

WATCH: Al Pacino And His Hoo-Ah! Hairpieces Aren’t The Only Reason To Watch HBO’s ‘Phil Spector’ Trailer

Can I get a Hoo-Ah ? Al Pacino has had a good run playing reviled real-life characters in HBO movies and miniseries, and, based on this trailer for Phil Spector , he’s going to keep his streak alive when the movie debuts on March 24. The actor, who played suicide machine inventor Jack Kevorkian in the 2010 HBO biopic You Don’t Know Jack , and was particularly brilliant as the homophobic gay lawyer Roy Cohn in the cable network’s adaptation of Lincoln screenwriter  Tony Kushner’s Angels in America in 2003, dons quite a few wacky wigs in this clip to play the legendary 60s music producer who’s serving 19 years to life in a California prison for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson . It’s not just the hair though.  The picture was written and directed by David Mamet , whose mean, hard-boiled writing sounds great coming out of Pacino’s mouth.  “First time you got felt up, guess what? You were listening to one of my songs,”  the actor brazenly tells Helen Mirren who plays his defense attorney. And then there’s the disembodied voice who, referring to Spector, tells Mirren: “He’s a freak. Theyr’e going to convict him of I just don’t like you.” Make that a talented freak. Spector produced albums by the Crystals, Darlene Love, the Ronettes, the Righteous Brothers, John Lennon , the Ramones and Leonard Cohen’s famous disaster of an album, Death of a Ladies Man.  His Wall of Sound production technique influenced Bruce Springsteen’s   Born to Run , among other albums. The scene in the trailer where Spector pulls a gun and shoots it into the ceiling next to a guitarist looks like it may be a recreation of a recording session with John Lennon.  The former Beatle told Spector:  “Phil, if you’re going to kill me, kill me. But don’t fuck with my ears. I need ‘em.” Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.

Tracy Morgan’s Co-Stars “Disgusted And Appalled” By His Statements

Tracy Morgan apparently is taking more heat after the release of his homophobic rant last week during a comedy show in Nashville, Tennessee. This time however the heat stems from his “30 Rock” co-stars and executive producer Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey. According to Huffington Post , gay rights activist and executive producer Tina Fey released a somewhat lengthy statement on her views of Morgan’s comments stating: “I hope for his sake that Tracy’s apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian coworkers at “30 Rock,” without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket.” True indeed. Fey also added: “Stand-up comics may have the right to “work out” their material in its ugliest and rawest form in front of an audience, but the violent imagery of Tracy’s rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community. One of Tracy’s openly gay co-stars, Cheyenne Jackson, of “30 Rock,” also shared his distaste in Morgan’s rant stating he was “disgusted and appalled by Morgan.” Tsk, tsk, tsk, Tracy. GLAAD Responds To Lil’ B’s “Gay” Album Title

Read more from the original source:

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) recently spoke out about Lil’ B ‘s recently announced album title, I’m Gay . During his recent Coachella performance, Lil’ B says the album title is meant to show that words don’t really matter. A spokesperson for GLAAD tells XXL that they are supportive of the album title… to a point. As a lyricist, Lil B knows that words matter. Slurs have the power to fuel intolerance. We hope that Lil B’s album title is not just a gimmick, and is really a sincere attempt to be an ally. He has the platform and the voice. We hope he uses it in a positive way.
