Following a successful five seasons of competition, Rémy Martin continues to unite producers across popular music genres while fostering the community around the art of making music. For season six, Rémy Martin collaborated with Dupri, who will be the face of this year’s program and hand-select this season’s winner and, potentially, the industry’s next greatest music producer. So So Def: WeTV Announces Upcoming Jermaine Dupri Documentary

Source: Nicholas Hunt / Getty Jermaine Dupri Documentary Will Air On WE tv Congratulations are in order for Jermaine Dupri ! The legendary producer is the subject of a much deserved documentary that will air on WE tv. The network announced this week that the new project will focus on the mogul’s influence on music over the last 25 years. Dupri’s work includes cultivating the careers of Kris Kross, Jagged Edge, and Bow Wow, among many man others. The producer will be the subject of a special that traces his rise to fame and how he helped put Atlanta and its unique sound on the map. The special will feature never-before-seen archival footage, an exclusive look behind the scenes of So So Def’s recent 25th Anniversary concert and interviews with Dupri’s contemporaries and peers that will chronicle how a regular kid who opened for Run DMC went on to become a teenage millionaire, and then the creative force in hip hop we know today. It will also show the fierce competition and power struggles that Dupri faced along the way and how he rose above it all to create the soundtrack of a generation. Currently, Dupri and So So Def are being celebrated in a Grammy Museum exhibit in Los Angeles that runs through January 2019. In addition to being one of the biggest names in music, Dupri also stars on the WE tv docuseries “Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta.” The documentary is a production of WE tv in association with Entertainment One (eOne), who also produce “Growing Up Hip Hop” and “Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta” for the network. According to The Jasmine Brand , Nicki’s former stylist, Maher Jridi is claiming the rapper allegedly didn’t return certain garments she wore. Jridi and Nicki have been close for quite sometime and he even worked with her for the H&M promo. The stylist doesn’t understand why Nicki wore the outfits, but didn’t return them and if they have their day in court she will have to speak on the situation. Raymond Boyd/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images NYPD Sergeant Fired After Shooting Unarmed Man, Planting Knife Before Picking It Back Up A police sergeant who shot an unarmed man in the face has been fired—but not criminally charged. The New York Times reports that Ritchard Blake was under investigation in connection with the off-duty shooting of a man that’s been deemed his “love rival.” According to reports, Blake shot Thavone Santone Aug. 2 in East New York and video surveillance footage showed Blake, patting down Santana, as if looking for a weapon. When Blake didn’t find a weapon he was seen on surveillance footage pulling a sheath knife out of his back pocket and dropping it out of its covering beside Mr. Santana, reports the New York Times. Sergeant Blake then picked it back up. The two men reportedly knew each other and were involved in an ongoing dispute over a woman, the mother of Blake’s 10 year-old son. Santana survived the shooting and is currently recovering.

RÉMY MARTIN To kick-off the weekend, House of RÉMY MARTIN and The Breakfast Club’s DJ ENVY hosted the exclusive 5th Season of the PRODUCER SERIES at Atlanta’s Terminal West. The VIP event attracted some of the music industry’s biggest names, who enjoyed music-themed cocktails as the next generation of inspiring music producers competed for a co-sign to create hip-hops newest hit with BIG SEAN and DJ MUSTARD. RÉMY MARTIN The event featured performances by the four Atlanta regional finalists – Beezo, Kryptid, Young Sidechain and Young Pete the Official – who competed for a spot in the finale in Los Angeles this fall. The tournament styled competition allowed each contestant to play their beat as the crowd listened along before the beats were scored by the panel of judges. The judges included Zeno Jones and other Atlanta music mainstays. RÉMY MARTIN In the end, YOUNG SIDECHAIN emerged victorious for the Atlanta competition and will move on to the finals! Following the competition, DJ MARK DA SPOT spun a live set at the space as the after-party celebration began. RÉMY MARTIN The event also featured another new star, the Rémy Martin 1738 ® Limited Edition Speaker Box, in collaboration with Live Nation, crafted to echo the spirit of the Rémy Martin Producers Series and the brand’s music campaign.
