Although Drake won a Grammy for Best Rap Song, he used his acceptance speech to shade the organization.  Drizzy actually picked up his hardware (he won for “God’s Plan”) in person, while acts like Jay-Z and Childish Gambino (who won Song of the Year for “This Is America”) were no-shows to the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards. The Toronto rapper sent a message to the kids aspiring to do music, and his peers who make music from the heart, from the stage at the Staples Center. “We play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,” said Drake. “So it’s not the NBA where at the end of the year you’re holding a trophy because you made the right decisions or won the games. This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say or a fly Spanish girl from New York or anywhere else.” He added, “My point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown. Look, if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here. My Love , but made a big splash in 2018 with his trap-tinged “This Is America” single. The artist born Donald Glover made Grammy history by having the first rap song win the coveted Record Of The Year Grammy Award on Sunday (Feb. 10). Billboard reports : With Gambino — a.k.a. Donald Glover — notably absent from tonight’s festivities, the prestigious award was accepted on behalf of co-writer and producer Ludwig Göransson, engineer/mixer Derek “MixedByAli” Ali and mastering engineer Mike Bozzi. “Creating music with Childish Gambino has been one of the greatest stories of my life,” Göransson told the crowd. “As a kid growing up in Sweden, loving American music, I always dreamt of migrating here, working with an artist like Donald Glover. “I really wish he was here with us right now, because this truly was his vision, and he deserves this credit,” he continued. “No matter where you’re born or what country you’re from, you connect with it. It speaks to people. It connects right to your soul. Black Billionaire Robert Smith Offers Full Scholarships To Chibok Girls Billionaire tech investor and equity titan Robert Smith was recently named at one of the richest people in the world but the quiet guru has also invested his money for the culture. The billionaire has now pledged to help pay for the education of 24 girls from the Chibok region in Nigeria, many of whom escaped Boko Haram last year according to Forbes . Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Nigeria’s President, Garba Shehu, says the scholarships will help the young girls after their traumatic ordeal. Shehu said that the girls will be admitted through negotiation at the prestigious American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, with the American billionaire footing the entire bill of the girls’ tuition, accommodation, feeding and other related expenses. It costs anywhere from $5,000 to $11,000 a year to educate a student at the school which is owned by wealthy frontline Nigerian politician and businessman Atiku Abubakar. “Smith has offered to pay for the education of the 21 released through negotiations and is offering to take responsibility for all the others who will hopefully be eventually set free,’’ Shehu added. This is great news!
